The 2008 team was special. The fact Saban won 5 in 14 yrs with the playoff change shows just how dominant they are. If you count the last year at LSU he'd won 7. That's mind boggling.
Entered the POs ranked #1, 5 times. Was 0-4 and then he got the great covid assist. No NC in history paired two teams where one team played 42% more teams than their opponent. 12-0 vs 7-0. Not to mention. * AL started practice 42 days before OSU * AL took their 1st snap 3 weeks before OSU * OSU's schedule was butchered during the season * AL played their biggest rival. OSU did not play MI * OSU played 3 times in the last 6 weeks of the season.
I will always enjoy what the 2008 team represented. Those guys bought in and maximized their talents, with most of the roster being filled with 3-stars, 4-stars, and a handful of 5-stars with great senior leadership.
I never forget when Coach showed up, I had a great feeling about this Man. I said wouldn't be nice to have a super coach lol, and he exceeded my expectations
Here we are 4 games into the 2021 season and Bama dynasty is still going strong. 6 National Titles in 12 years. Played for 2 more. Won 7 SEC Championships and 3 Heisman Trophies . Now, Bryce Young looks like he might win a 4th Heisman and Coach Saban's 7th National Title at Bama.
@@mas5867 A National Title Game appearance and Sugar Bowl victory and just signed one of highest rated classes ever. It was so dominant that is considered downhill.

They were so dominant they tried to change to the CFP and they still won championships. Hes the 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐 But everyone forgets he cut his teeth under Belichik in Cleveland. Look where that group of coaches is now. Amazing
I still believe that Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe in 2007 on purpose, to teach the players how important it is to prepare for each opponent the same no matter who they are. He did the same thing while coaching at LSU, when he lost to UAB. Same results.... a couple years later his motivation got them to win a National Title!
I have heard that it wasn't "purposely" but there had been some players that let's say didn't want to buy in. Like the atmosphere was bad. Saban could have played a couple of those players and probably won but he didn't. He had some really bad apples that really fought the "Saban way" and it was a battle. The first time he uttered the phrase "this is not a democracy, this is a dicatatorship" was after that game. When they got to the Indy Bowl, a couple had been kicked off, some failed their grades and Nakita Stover took over for a lax DJ Hall and Saban had turned the corner.
LOL. Chizik did it in 2. Is this where you flap about the state of AL football? HA! Check AL's record the year before Saban arrived then head on over and check Aub's record the year before Chizik arrived.
@The Real Tiny Talk *"He had cam newton."* So, not only did Chizik win a NC sooner than Saban, he out dueled Saban for Cam too? I think this discussion went south on you. maybe you should delete it.
I hear ya - but people forget that 2007 could have easily been (11-2) - it is crazy because the only 2 looses they really deserved both came down to onside kicks at the end of the game against Florida State and Auburn - all six losses were by 7 points or less - if you go back and watch those 6 games you will see how close this team was to having at least 10 wins - 2007 was the foundation in my opinion - they took the bumbs and bruises and never quit fighting that year 🏆🐘
@Christopher Brock *"all six losses were by 7 points or less"* LOL I'm sure if we're gonna spot you the close losses, you would surely spot us the close wins, right. AL beat AR by 3 Houston by 6 Ole Miss 3 CO by 6 4 for 4 leaves you feeling pretty stupi.d huh!
What if in 2009 Meyer said, "Wait, Saban will play in 2 NCs games without even playing in the SECC game. I am # 1 and it does me absolutely no good to play in the SECC game. I want to pull a Saban and not play so I can face TX." Saban: the most overrated, entitled coach in history.
I had seen Michigan State win a game (I think it was against Michigan) and I thought he was the coach we needed. At the time Bama seemed big on staying in the family and I didn't think they would get him.
LOL. He wasn't awful at MSU, but he wasn't good either. Never won a bowl game for one. Finally got the team ranked in the top 10, 55 games into his 59 game tenure and then proceeded to lose by 24 points.
Most of the 2009 NC team were Shula's recruits including the QB. Yes, several stars were Sabans, but the jist of the team were Shula's recruits. 88% of the TN and AU teams Shula faced were ranked. That number would be 38% for Saban. Shula would have found his way.,
Years later and still people don't get Saban's comments. When he said that he was responding to rumors, and at that point in time it's all they were... just rumors. He'd not met with the University or interviewed for the job. He was just the Dolphins coach. His agent realized the rumors were probably coming from the school having interest, and so he finally talked Saban into meeting with them. Yet people still act like he was just lying a decade later.

You FING poor sport. Don't give the opposing teams any credit.
@TheKnowitall LOL. Really most of the starters in the 2009 NC were Shula's. Yes, several stars were his but most of the team was Shula's.
Nothing crazier than the stretch of when Saban made 4 consecutive national championship appearances. That’s a crazy feat
The BUILDERS of GREATNESS.
And he won it all in his 3rd year for Paul’s information. 14-0 SEC/BCS CHAMPS 2009

Finding this documentary series is very upsetting as a Florida fan lol. Especially one who grew up in the urban era.
