A homage to "Lawrence of Arabia." It's a very good movie, and it left a deep impression on me as it was made in the year I was born. There is nothing wrong with beauty.
It's interesting, but it seems like it doesn't know what it wants to be. Kind of a frankenstein combo of new and old. I"m sure a lot of people love the look but it doesn't quite work for me.
Dave7777 I would have preferred they made an exact replica, like Pur Sang do with their replica Bugattis. There would be endless demand for a new 1930s model Brough.
New and old isn't that the idea of Retro which is extremely popular now? Indian Vincent Royal Enfield, Triumph, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki etc. Its called supplying what people want and business to make money. I will agree with you on this one, it doesn't do it for me either - that engine is hideous - the V is too big an angle,, it should have replicated the JAP or Matchless 1000cc engines of the day. Plebs like me will never own one and the way the collectors market is many will be bought as investments even by none motorcyclists. These are my humble opinions.
Dave7777 I agree. It seems like a rich man's idea of a collection piece a bit like a Rolex is to watches...ie expensive but not necessarily any better than bikes at half the cost to ride. What us it? Not a sports bike bike...not a sporsts tourer like the original and not even a replica. The original was a collection of the finest bits made by others built together and using a bespoke tank. This isn't that either. Its a sort of retro mess of ideas none of which blend harmoniously on the eye. A true homage would have been a more accurate replica...more people would have understood that. These are not Broughs...the name may be used but thats it. Personally I think they're ugly and the sound on video anyway is dissapointing. Even if I had the cash I wouldn't buy one for the same reason I wouldn't buy a rolex. Leave it for the wealthy show offs.
I talked about the same way as you guys do. A bike that expensive, is tehre anything it can do a 10K bike can't do?? NO, nothing. Then I got the chance to testride one and it was like..... I AM HOME, everything felt right. It is lightweight, handlebar, footpegs all where it should be. This is pure riding Everything on this bike is made only from best materials and designed through and through... OK, the exhaust... I am still not friend of it, but I am getting used to it. Anyway, 5 month after my testride, slepless nights, reading everything that ever was written about htis bikes, watched every video ever made about it I added a SS100 to my bike gargae. The look? Never argue about design, not everybody has the same taste and I am happy about this. It would be boring if all would ride the same bike.
The cognitive dissonance and ego required to resurrect a mans company that was named after him is off the charts, you have to ask what the goal is in building bikes under the brough name, the only conclusion is you want to take a hard won reputation and prestige from a long defunct company and pretend that these bikes have earned that as well, they haven't, and if this is some sort of homage to broughs then there is nothing wrong with calling them something else, people would still be able to tell what the influences are, such a cop out!
Ya, I agree. A bit weird. There would be nothing wrong with bringing out this bike as a new retro-styled boutique bike. I personally quite like both the style and the finish, and performance seems quite good. Keanu Reeves did it with Arch, and he's building his own legacy. Don't see why this couldn't have been done here.
I would add that the finishes are beautiful as well as the bikes but they take the wrong approach compared to the true spirit of Brough Superior and I think they are capable of doing better if they change course. Of course, they can always keep a model in the cafe racer genre as many current manufacturers do.
Recently at a bike event, a guy in his expensive leather Belstaff look-alike appeared on his 1930's Brough SS100, he mingled around for about an hour then left only to appear about 30 mins later on one of these, again mingled for about an hour then left only to appear back on his Vincent Rapide. SS100 and Rapide - 2 beautiful bikes. This bike??? the engine V angle is all wrong, needs spoke wheels, silencers should be horizontal and with fin-tails. Lucky guy though and absolutely no envy.
I would like to see the machining marks polished out to give a 'superior' finish! Seeing those 'unfinished' parts, makes me feel like I'm in a machine shop again!
This machine just looks like an anachronism. Its new technology and old styling cobbled together without any thought whatsoever. For me, this was a missed opportunity and I have no idea who it would appeal to, someone with way more money than sense I expect.
For a boutique machine, this looks absolutely ghastly. The individual parts are cool and certainly well made, but the whole thing just doesn't work at all.
M-Kay two (mark two) & forward controls (switchgear).....seems a bit adrift for a PR person. It's a bit of an odd thing. Clearly not all that robust with indicators fracturing & exhausts falling apart on track. Sounds a bit like a CG125 to me too....
man , what a piece of art , i would be lucky to see it in person a glance would be the luckiest day , this bike looks like a look at a era which is nomore like it stopped in time
I've never been able to see the attraction for the Brough... they looked primitive even when I started motorcycling in the early sixties.. Vincent , now thats the motorcycle I would go for...A friend of mine owns a 1946 500cc Moto Guzzi, what a beautiful machine it is.. There are lots of bikes out there far better than a Brough ...
Well, I haven't yet watched the video... I'm just at 0:24 and I just can't help it commenting: Those mufflers...WHY WHY WHY?!? :))) It's been since the new BS were presented that I'm thinking of this... WHY??? I can see some really modern/hi-tech design tips... some vintages ones... and then, those 80s SuperSport mufflers.... ;) CHEERS
I've always wondered what happened with these bikes. They came out a while back but there was absolutely nothing in them..... So people put them away in sheds? There's no value apart from retail, an old one yeah but this new one much rather see it on the road
Of course they were! Designed to be the best in their era- this thing just hangs on the name and harks back to some of the early style cues. Looks a mess.
Gerry What if the present one was built exactly the aame with top technology and top build quality of today. Woulld you be willing to drop the necessary coin for purchase, or would it just be eye candy ?
I build the odd custom for friends. If I could not build a better looking bike, using all the main parts of this horrible machine, I would never pick up a spanner again.
The origin of this 88 degree 997 vtwin engine is a 2011 concept bike by French company Boxer Design called Superbob (alas not a black adder reference). Superbob had a single sided swing arm, 0.5 bar turbo and belt drive. Nice homage, but has big shoes to fill.
It has a nice tank, and all the machining. But some of the details like the wheels, light and back end are too modern looking and clash with the retro appearance. And the radiator is just hung off the front. Triumph Bonneville or Indian Scout have gotten the retro look down much better, this is a style salad.
Shit noice. Mk100 series, 100 build and 100.000euros each! The original bike looks great, but this new one has to much cnc parts, to "square" in my opinion
Beautiful bike and extremely well explained account of the SS100. I love the idea of taking one of these out for a jolly for a few days! When does the season start for SME? On your website there is a hidden description of the tours available on the 'Packages' tab... BUT if you hold down left click and drag the cursor over the screen the magic texts appears!!! 😉 I'm in!
Sadly not worth the price tag. If it was genuinely handmade then I’d say it is. But there are so many off the shelf Chinese parts on it that degrade the retail price. The front light for example is the same Chinese unit that CCM use.
I think the designer was having a giggle when he did this. Now most of the press are afraid to pan it because it's become the 'emperors new cloths'. It must be good because it's got CNC machined everything!
The part I dislike the most are the headlights: they're an exact copy of Harley Davidson's "Day Maker". Or was that an homage to how the original Brough used Harley forks? Anyways, the part I like best are those brakes! They sure look innovative but curious to feel how they work. He said @1:56 "you need no energy on that brake [lever] at all to get all the stopping power..." But IMO the more stopping power and the more sensitive the lever, particularly on a street bike, the more there is a need for ABS. I don't know if it's just nerves from being on camera, but a few things he said makes me think that this guy either knows very little about motorcycles, or he's a complete idiot: @2:50 "forward controls here and there for making the most comfy grips"? Maybe it's a Brit thing but over here, "forward controls" are foot controls and have nothing to do with grips. @2:55 "Stylish mirrors"? They're off the shelf round mirrors... just like the ones my 8yr old has on his bike! @3:05 "barrel into a corner on one of these and grab a whole bunch of that front brake". Who does that?! Great way to crash your limited production bike... especially when you've got no ABS. @3:36 "This particular bike is 101, we've got 93 and 96, and you know, six other numbers" Ok, maybe they didn't get consecutive serial numbers; but if they did... 🤔 @3:54 "Vtwin thats been built by Akira... they make World Superbike and BSB engines, they do some stuff for some of the big five". Akira certainly makes fine engines but I'd be curious to know, I'm sure Kawasaki would too, who else they're building engines for in WSBK and BSB. @4:07 "A thousand cc vtwin with a really big angle on it". It's 990cc set at 88 degrees, Ducati uses a wider 90 degree V. @6:20 "If you wanted to gear the bike up... it would have to be done inside the engine". That is totally inaccurate: there is absolutely no need to go inside the engine, the front sprocket is an external part that's simply attached to the transmission output shaft and changing it is no more involved than changing the rear sprocket. I rest my case. As a side note: I know he didn't design the bike, but if what he described @5:10 is accurate, then that's a terrible design. With multiple pockets of fuel in different locations, the bike's center of mass will constantly be changing as the gas is used up; they should have just stuffed all the electronics under the seat and all the gas in the traditional tank.
The legend is reborn!!!!!! I' remember to Col.Thomas E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) and his SS 100. Precious bike, congratulations!! Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I agree it seems like two different teams have designed the front and the rear of the bike and they have definetly not cooperated...
New and old isn't that the idea of Retro which is extremely popular now? Indian Vincent Royal Enfield, Triumph, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki etc. Its called supplying what people want and business to make money.

I love how he showed the busted blinker and liked the grinded exhaust pipe. he loves motorcycles, 'cause he knows they need to be ridden.
It's not an "Emm Kay two". MK is short for "Mark". Mark II.
Kyle first thing I noticed. Seems odd that a dude who runs a few of these doesn’t know that.
For a boutique machine, this looks absolutely ghastly. The individual parts are cool and certainly well made, but the whole thing just doesn't work at all.
Some designer said 'we want to keep the essence of the original bike' and failed miserably..

At least this fella is throwing the leg over it. Just another investment vehicle for the privileged few...pun intended. It's ugly to boot.

I would like the luggage rack you guys have for my SS100
They just look revolting though :/

Quad discs, how very 90's early 00's.
Great looking bike love the shiny aluminum used along with the classic retro style
Looks like a mishmash of ideas certainly not inspiring....sorry
Lots and lots of money. I’m afraid I’d be shitting myself too much in case I dropped it. And How long does it take to clean!??
How buy in japan
Rough.
Looks like a Hesketh engine has been shoved into some other kind of bike.
Wouldnt ideally be my first choice for a trip to the Pyrenees. Fair play though
Jay B not a trip to the Pyrenees. Rideouts in the Pyrenees. They will have a base with different tours around the area each day.
@@BikeShedMotoCo Ah two different things
Real shit.
Its not a bike. Its a polished piece of shit.
The looks is kinda like the Japanese Bosozoku bike

I like this bike a lot. Obviously it is not designed and priced for everybody.
Honestly?! It's looks wrong...
Personally, the alloy wheels do not fit the design, a nice set of laced spoke rims would be much better!
Looks alright but sadly sounds like a loud old sewing machine
I love and appreciate all motorcycles, but this is horrendous. No other word for it really.
A lovely looking bike, but not one for me. Now, can I get one of those girder fork assemblies for my Moto Guzzi… 😀
for such a boutique brand and price, it has the stupidist looking engine I have seen.
Does Jay leno own one of these ? Magnificent motor bike !
I want this
A desperate attempt to cash in on the Brough name. Its designed in France and built in France by an Austrian company. What a joke. Only ever seen them for sale as ex-demos or new 'from stock' so no one wants them either
Looked into this because of the anime oh my goodness =p
The very first look made me go WOW! this motor bike is special and it is special! Cheers!
Love it detail, detail, detail spot on pal 👍🏁
Good looking bike. 👍
Good...👍👍
It’s all about making a financial killing not to build a bike to be ridden- our world is full of bullshit and this smells worse than most

Sounds like a 250 - very disappointing.
$?
I think it would probably be in or above Confederate cycles range
So yeah, just a pipe dream...
I love this sort of retromod machine. I especially love that it upsets the purists and the fact it's French is just exquisite!
A hideous 'investment' item, not a motorcycle for actually riding.
Beautiful, please watch out carefully for Butcher Boys on bicycles.
Not sure why anyone would buy this 🤸 60 k fucking crazy 😭 petrol tank looks like its held together with straps Shite! the whole bike looks dire 😭
Nice old world with new world combination.
Love those ss100's that's a great looking Bike.
Yea this is great, first I've heard of it, glad to see they're doing this.
Love all the machining work and the engineering thats gone in to the bike but !! Lord av mercy its ugly as fook !!
It's what happens when you have a Frenchman design your modern take on a British legend, there is the inevitable injection of gallic quirk.
