When playing Izzet Hellraiser, some cool cards you can put in your sideboard against Mono Red, especially against Screaming Nemesis are: Unable to Scream - Extremely cheap 1 mana solution that essentially works as removal. The only downside is that it's sorcery speed, so you will take 3 damage before playing it. Eaten by Pirhanas - Slightly more expensive at 2 mana, but has Flash, so you can react instantly. The only downside is that it leaves a 1/1 Skeleton that can still attack. However, your Ill-Timed Explosion is an elegant way of dealing with it. Sugar Coat - The most expensive at 3 mana but also the most powerful. Has Flash, so it can be played instantly and doesn't leave a body that can attack later, only a Food token that gains 3 life which is irrelevant in the matchup.
In Bo3 Standard the only deck I can pilot respectably is Orzhov Lifegain and it isnt so good but overall enjoyable.. On the other hand the deck that clobbers me the most (and noncoincidentally in this top deck list) is Dimir Midrange....It's really insidious! Thanks for these vids Joe!
The reason for virtue in hellraiser is in the doc: Chandra -x and Jace -x work really well with Vantress Visions which is the adventure on Virtue. This deck has a ton of card selection so finding these cards is fairly easy in the late game and can lead to surprise wins. Chandra is able to double the virtue so it’s important to leave at least one loyalty so that she lives. (-x are tripled because of vantress visions being copied) Chandra -4*3 = 12 Dmg Chandra -6*3 = 18 Dmg Chandra -8*3 = 24 Dmg Jace -5*2 = 30 Mill Jace -5*3 (With Chandra on board) = 45 Mill
My favorite deck to play in Standard right now is Esper Reanimator. It's not good, it's janky but it beats playing Dimir Aggro like everyone else, at least imo! Thanks for the video MTGJoe!
I tried the Izzet Hellraiser deck and it feels like fighting with nunchucks. Half the time, you accidentally bash your own head in. Very fun deck, though.

I like unable to scream. Terror decks had that in the side as well and can also come in handy vs Shelly. Thanks for sharing

its a tricky deck to navigate optimally I find. May be playing it in a paper RCQ so will have to run it a bunch to get familiar with it
