If you like a stand up bass, you may want to see Reina Del Cid on youtube. They have a guy on the Stand Up that is phenomenal. Reina and Toni alone are extremely talented. When the entire group performs you'll get your bass.
Quite a few musicians are going back to the old instruments. You just won't find them in Hollywood country coming out of Nashville. I suggest you start checking out the real country (and other genres) musicians here on TH-cam, give the videos a 'like' and then follow the recommendations for other artists. Maybe check out Little Leslie and the Bloodshots - Doin' Fine to get started.
Went to Nashville for vacation about 5 years ago. To my surprise. Hank Williams is still the biggest attraction in Nashville. Every place you go has something of hank. There is full museums, there is his cars everywhere, there is his clothes, boots, papers, napkins where he wrote his songs on. Not one place doesn't have something of hank sr. Great big little up neon signs if hank. The man has been dead for 67 years and still the biggest thing in Nashville, the capital of country music
I remember my dad playing the Hank William's album in our living room, just fell in love with Hank's singing, he is the best country singer on earth, no challenges Hank! Young uns , listen to some old Hank Williams Sr. you shall be enlightened.
A truly great songwriter and performer! My parents used to dance to him when he would perform in Delcambre Louisiana, a small Cajun town about 2 hours southwest of New Orleans. I can still go to the place he played and hear Cajun bands that play there currently. It was called "The Bellvadere Club" when my parents danced to Hank Williams.
@@TM1Alan actually there are cities and people that live southwest of New Orleans. Small Cajun communities. So what I stated is actually the case my friend. :0-)
If Hank Sr. was still around... 1. He'd be really old 2. He'd have a worn out throat 3. He probably still be drinking himself to death But yeah, I'd go see Hank Sr. In a heartbeat 💓. 👍
My mom use to play the guitar. I can see her strumming away singing this song. She sang many of Hanks songs, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, ect. I grew up hearing all these songs. I miss that. They sure don't make songs like they use to!
60 and big fan of HWS since 5 sitting in front of a record player singing along. Seeing video of him makes me so sad, he seems look so un-able to feel comfortable, as if he knows he's different and nobody understands or accepts him. Yet, most of the time on stage he seems to be on a magic carpet ride doing the impossible, not only understanding the audience, but putting it all into music which expresses those feelings better then they could put into words if they tried.
@@shovel_head80 That would have been beyond awesome! Since you mentioned that your Mom saw Elvis at the Hayride, my Mom also was fortunate to have seen Elvis at the Reo Palm Isle dancehall in Longview, Texas back in '54, which of course was Elvis' first year. I sure wish she'd had a camera. Probably too poor. lol 👋🙂

You can find some good music today, but you have to be willing to search for it. I've found that, if you like old country, you're better off looking at Bluegrass and the music that's classified now as Americana rather than looking at music under the country classification. I listen to a lot of older stuff still, but Bluegrass and Americana can yield some pleasant surprises.

Hi Jacob, I love your video here. Why is there so maddenly little video of Hank Williams? I'm familiar with all the footage here on TH-cam. Do you know of any other compilations for sale or otherwise? Thanks Les
I heard Hank Williams sr had back problems growing up he took medicine for it and well I guess he got bad medicine from someone who said he was a doctor I’m not sure if I read it right but I think that’s what May have killed him it’s really sad he was only 29 still in the prime of his life and his country music career I wish he could have lived a longer life then he did🥺
Sorry, Im probably making it sound so complicated, I was saying that there was a snippet in here of the Lovesick video that I did not see in the original. Regardless, no big deal I was just curious. I LOVE Your Hank Videos!
Never seen this before & in color, Hank Williams was awesome & if he had lived there would've never been Elvis Presley Carl Perkins. Hank Williams would've adapted to rock n roll, rockabilly.
Just 29 y.o. when he died, yet his quality output & influence on C & W music is unparalleled
I'm 52'love the old country ,not much on the new junk,Hank is one of my favorites,,

The same people that fired him and tried to ruin his career, are still riding on his name and music. Hank built Nashville!
Riding his coattails, Nashville killed country music, the crap they peddle today is not country music, it's pop, and it sucks.
Hell just face it Hank made Nashville.

We have so much World War Two footage but few thought to record this legend on film. We need so much more!

Thank you for sharing these. I'm sure there are some of these scenes that Bocephus remembers. Pretty cool.
Thank goodness for home movies
R.I.P. Mr Hank Williams Sr
You can see how charismatic he was, his performance style, his swagger, Hiram was a rock star.
He had true talent ,born with it and sadly died way to young. He could have had a long career and many hit songs had he lived longer R.I.P. Ok Hank
29 years old and Buddy Holly was like 22, unbelievable how much they done in no time at all.
No doubt about that !
You make a good point but also think about this...Had he not lived the life he lived, the songs and music likely wouldn't have been the same either
@@HD4lyfe Yeah that's a valid point too!

He's the king of country
The first of the video looks to be next to the caddo parish courthouse in down shreveport, la. Which is where hank jr. Was born about this time .
My parents saw him perform on the
Louisiana Hayride in 1949.
My mom caught him and Elvis on the hayride too
My daddy saw him also at the Hayride in '49.

Like Dad said there will never be another Hank Williams.... I enjoyed his son singing his Dad's songs when he was younger....
