  • How To Build Affordable, Space-Saving Gear Lockers from Baltic Birch!
Join Wranglerstar in his workshop as he tackles the intricate task of building custom gear lockers from the finest Baltic Birch plywood-without any pre-made plans. Navigating the build process without a blueprint is a true test of craftsmanship, requiring foresight into how each decision impacts the overall design and functionality. It's about creating not just for utility but for aesthetics too. Why settle for anything less than beautiful?
In this video, Cody explores the capabilities of his new M18 Milwaukee Track Saw, a critical tool in achieving the seamless look that all skilled carpenters strive for: no visible nails or screws. He’s thrilled with the results - lockers that are as stunning as they are functional.
Stay tuned for part 2 of this project where we continue to refine and perfect our craftsmanship. Don't forget to hit like, subscribe, and join us next time in the workshop!

Very nice. The only thing that runs through my mind is the 3/8" gap makes a great vent and a good access point for a mouse to a place where Momma Kitty can't follow. Since I was taught not to offer criticism without a solution. My humble offering is to put some galvanized mesh down there and use a wood strip to hide the edges of it so they don't catch anything in the cubby.

Was thinking the same as well as adding a computer fan to each one while doing the lighting. Airflow would be improved and less likely to get the smell too

I had the same thought about the mice ingress as well! Good idea with the forced ventilation too a timer switch would allow you to turn on a fan for a duration and shut off automatically.

So now he’s a cabinet maker too. Well done, Cody!
My one alteration: gap the hinged benches 3/8 on each side. Moisture rises and the wood may swell. Oh, and mount a vertical strip on on the back underside of each seat that firmly abuts the hinge to offer rearward support and help take pressure off the hinge when a person is seated.
    God Bless!

Mr W, I don't know much about cabinet making either. I have a strong interest in woodwork.
Personally I would add a piece under the bench seats to that your weight isn't relying on the small screws, as part of the hinge.
This may already be a part of your plan although I felt it necessary to mention.

My only add on would be some sort of seat support on the side walls of the under seat storage area. Maybe some 1 inch thick scrap pieces that would go 3/4ths of the way to the hinge from the front of the seat. Then you could drill through the side wall's and put in some wooden pegs with glue. When you finish the locker the little wooden pegs being a different wood would show up as nice little detail to show it wasn't just slapped together with screws.

Cody, if anyone complains about the cost of things you do or purchase they don't know you. You've been around forever and built up a massive following. I been around since Wrangler barn days and that time all those timbers you prepped for that small home were stolen and now look at where you are you have built an empire you built something to pass on You've helped so many young men over the years and if anybody complains about money then they're not worthy of your time I do like the fact that you threw in that short audio clip after you showed the cost of the plywood. I wonder how along that plywood would take to come in where I live I know it's special order so that's 13 ply hours wondered how many ply it was as I've seen other woodworkers use that type of plywood to make cabinetry

Very cool! One suggestion: put cleats either under each side of the seat or at the back under the hinge. I may have looked at it wrong, but it seems like the only thing holding your weight are the screws into the wood. With the amount of them there probably wouldn't be an issue, but I tend to over build stuff. Thanks for making interesting content!

I distinctly remember having seen all your sockets and wrenches sitting in. Just a quick series of the drawers.
