Big mouth missed 2 fgs for the hicks so i'll give you that but they got their asses handed to them the rest of the game.
Pitt got screwed about 5 different times in this game. The holding calls on the receiver literally looked like the ref had money on wvu they were very suspicious they were that bad
the calls were awful.....they tried to screw PITT/ o'derrick turner sooooo bad with phantom holding calls which took away shady mccoy touchdown....it makes the win even more great....H2P

I honestly wasn't right for a couple weeks after this. And then near the end of the grieving process I was greeted with the headlines of Rich Rod bolting for Michigan. Even though this was a successful era winning this game and going to the Natty could have been a program changing event.
They went ultra conservative and didn't attack downfield for most of the game. Pitt made them pay by outnumbered them in the box, and they didn't adjust. Corners played off the ball deep, and they didn't throw curls until the end of the 4th quarter. I think after those two field goal misses they got in their heads and played not to lose
I wish I could go back in time to this year and bet all my money on Appalachian St to beat Michigan, Stanford beating USC, and Pitt winning this one. And then I'd take all that money and invest in Bitcoin a few years later lol.

ESPN really started to go all in on the SEC around this time so maybe your opinion is right this game was a fix to force the then BCS to take a 2 loss LSU team that year due to how crazy that season was or was it all a fix by ESPN to benefit the SEC. Alabama the next year really started to launch their dynasty.
