Jobim was the most complete musician. He was handsome, kind, funny, talented, played the flute, piano, guitar, could sing, could write AMAZING MUSIC and was always consistent with it
They're completely tuned. In Brazil, the summer ends in march 21. This transition brings tropical storms. And it use to cause many floods. The music talks about it.
I love this one and both of them are fantastic. I had a roommate from Brazil for a while and got exposed to a lot of music. My favorite of all time though is Elis Regina. She has so many different hits and stand out songs, it's amazing. She was kind of like the Elvis Presley of Brazil in a way, mostly an amazing interpreter as they call it. Check out Romeria for example. Especially the black and white live footage version. It's about a religious pilgrimage and that particular performance is not all that long before she died. She died way too early, just like Elvis.
They talk about most the trivial things in life, like a cut in your foot, a car stucked in the mud, a little of lonliness in the end of summer. "Aguas de Março" means water and march - the month name. It's the end of rain season in Brazil.
Nice reaction thanks!! How could anyone watch this two singing without put a smile in the face... I wish you all could understand the message of the song, its beautuful and peaceful . My brazilian portuguese its so beautiful and sounds as poetry naturally
Hello Again Sarah, This time you have Struck A Vein , as in a Goldmine..! These two singing together are absolute Brazilian Musical ICON'S... Sarah , If you open that 🚪 you will discover the most beautiful Music ever..! Both , JOBIM & ELIS REGINA are probably BRAZIL'S VERY BEST but make no mistake there is endless boundless Musical Genius & Talent in BRAZIL... 🙏❤️ Like I said Sarah , Once you open that 🚪 you will be forever swept away..!
this song is about the passage of life. Aguas de março means "March Waters" - the period when the summer in Brazil is ending and become rainy days. The rain and water is a metaphor about the rebirth of everything in this world.Tom JObim write a lot of nature references as metaphors like trees, birds and brazilian environment. He was a pioneer in art and environmental issues in music. A truly genius
But there is another version of this song which was written by Maestro Tom Jobim himself, (named Waters of March) which isn't merely a lyrics translation from PT to EN, but an adaptation to the Northern Hemisphere inhabitant viewpoint. You can find it here in YT (video: Waters of March - Águas de Março - Tom Jobim; channel: Carey McGleish). Next follows the lyrics. Waters of March (Tom Jobim) A stick, a stone, it's the end of the road It's the rest of a stump, it's a little alone It's a sliver of glass, it is life, it's the sun It is night, it is death, it's a trap, it's a gun The oak when it blooms, a fox in the brush A knot in the wood, the song of a thrush The wood of the wind, a cliff, a fall A scratch, a lump, it is nothing at all It's the wind blowing free, it's the end of the slope It's a beam, it's a void, it's a hunch, it's a hope And the river bank talks of the waters of March It's the end of the strain, it's the joy in your heart The foot, the ground, the flesh and the bone The beat of the road, a slingshot's stone A fish, a flash, a silvery glow A fight, a bet, the flange of a bow The bed of the well, the end of the line The dismay in the face, it's a loss, it's a find A spear, a spike, a point, a nail A drip, a drop, the end of the tale A truckload of bricks in the soft morning light The sound of a gun in the dead of the night A mile, a must, a thrust, a bump, It's a girl, it's a rhyme, it's a cold, it's the mumps The plan of the house, the body in bed And the car that got stuck, it's the mud, it's the mud A float, a drift, a flight, a wing A hank, a quail, the promise of spring And the river bank talks of the waters of March It's the promise of life, it's the joy in your heart A snake, a stick, it is John, it is Joe It's a thorn on your hand and a cut in your toe A point, a grain, a bee, a bite A blink, a buzzard, a sudden stroke of night A pin, a needle, a sting, a pain A snail, a riddle, a wasp or a stain A pass in the mountains, a horse and a mule In the distance the shelves rode three shadows of blue And the river bank talks of the waters of March It's the promise of life in your heart, in your heart A stick, a stone, the end of the road The rest of a stump, a lonesome road A sliver of glass, a life, the sun A knife, a death, the end of the run And the river bank talks of the waters of March It's the end of all strain, it's the joy in your heart

The male singer is the composer, Antonio Carlos Jobim (Tom Jobim). The song is "ÁGUAS DE MARÇO" referring to the rain season of March that in the Southern Hemisphere closes the Summer, with heavy rain. The language that you don't know is Brazilian Portuguese. I suggest that you find the lyrics on the Internet and hear the song following it.

Portuguese. They are from Brazil.
Elis had this special talent to bring "joy" to any music she sang. Tom was and always will be the "maestro" for us, Brazilians.
They're completely tuned. In Brazil, the summer ends in march 21. This transition brings tropical storms. And it use to cause many floods. The music talks about it.
I've loved this song since the first time I heard it in the 70's.
If you listen to bossa nova music without dancing you have no soul. Que bonito!
So nice to see someone react to what for me is the most PERFECT song ever written.
There's an english version by Art Garfunkel, that some poster has made a very good video of. th-cam.com/video/FrmcSJGvz4s/w-d-xo.html
Saudades de Elis e Tom.
Joyous and delightful…my favorite morning music
It sounds like a song for children, happy and fun, but above all it is a classic of Brazilian music.
Aqui do Brasil orgulhoso desses dois talento da música brasileira que infelizmente já não estão entre nós mais ficou a obra

Literally one of the best songs ever.
This is Bossa Nova 🎙🎵🎶🎷🎹🎻
I love this one and both of them are fantastic. I had a roommate from Brazil for a while and got exposed to a lot of music. My favorite of all time though is Elis Regina.
