It took me 7 hours to beat balteus but I knew I could've just swapped one weapon.
That's something I have always appreciated about Armored Core. Brought a tank to chase a high speed enemy? Good luck! Forgot you unequipped all your weapons? Have fun! Using a weak generator to fly long distances? Go ahead!
You can actually break the shield without the needle. According to someone else who did it (like hell am I gonna waste my time on this), there is no special dialog for completing the mission without the needle, only this initial line from Michigan.

That actor seriously did a great job, he had so many lines that made me laugh. My favorite was when you fight the redguns later in the game and he just shit talks everyone, “the only clown here is YOU” just perfect delivery

Was expecting Walter to suddenly start checking Raven's equipment and then when he notices the clear lack of Stun Needle he turns the chopper around and scolds Raven as if they had just forgotten their lunch box
I'd like to think Walter saw but kept quiet because he absolutely believes 621 can pull it off without it.
Ayre however, probably wasn't paying attention and didn't realise it to notify. Despite literally being in 621's head.

Still working on beating Ice Worm without the Needle Cannon, but I've almost gotten the shield down on Phase 2 before death took me for a break.
Hm, I wonder if electromagnetic gun can damage the shield similarly.
But I still prefer to do this mission with two of that special weapons (and actually almost the whole game). It is suprisingly effective against AC.

I actually did this on accident for my second play through. I genuinely forgot I needed it for this fight and didn’t realize i didn’t have until Michigan yells at me. Ayre sighing in immense disappointment is hilarious!
As someone just starting NG+ and basically trying to speedrun everything, I was thinking I could see myself doing this

Ngl I thought he sucked when he was first intoduced, but by this mission I was grinning every time he delivered a line. One of the best characters in the game lol
Michigan is the opposite of Slime. He speaks highly of you to his comrades while V-II sees you as a mere tool and hold a massive grudge if you tryed to kill him before.
I love the banter between characters that otherwise don't interact.
His character gets better after your first playthrough too.
The way he gave Volta and Iguazo shit during mission 6 was hilarious.

When the voice actor for Michigan really gets into his line reads he reminds me of Clancy Brown's Sergeant Zim from starship troopers
He's my favorite character in the game. One of my favorite lines from a mission called Intercept the Redguns: "Fine. Whoever takes down Gun 13 wins a Balam Cobalt Medal! They're good, y'know? They go real far when you throw 'em!"

Dam Complex Alter is actually interesting in that sense that MC seems deliberatly do not kill that two pilots and I don't remember any single time he did the same for the rest of the game. Thought he probably better if he killed one of them.
I'll be honest, after doing the NG+ content the ruined fieldtrip line is even funnier.

Asmongold didn't bring the Stun needle for this mission, and it took him a few minutes and a number of retries to figure out what was wrong even though the mission brief talked about using the Stun Needle. 🤣

yeah, my bad, the chat on his stream said he needed the weapon for the mission, then he decided to do it without it, tried it a few times, then finally decided to equip it. it just became an additional thing that his editors could use for content. haha

The fact that bringing the stun needle, a weapon that is NEEDED to complete the mission, is OPTIONAL...is funny as hell

Other games would tack on a mission to have you acquire the needle. Then not allow you to begin the mission without it or equip it for you.
AC6 just gives you the needle and expects you to act like an adult and bring it yourself.

I actually was just doing this mission and forgot to bring the needle but quit the mission as soon as it began so I didn't get to witness this hilarious dialoque for myself.

That's because G2 is taken out early on in the story, being the brains of the Red Guns, whilst G1 is more brawn and leadership. That agreement between Arquebus (spelling?), and Balam ceasefire?
G2 would've pushed G1 to disagree since G2 would see through Snail trying to get all that juicy PCA tech whilst Balam would be dicking around trying to do the arguably more difficult and less rewarding task of taking down the Ice Worm.
If Ng++ is the canon route, it's actually our fault since we're the ones responsible for G2's demise.

Stun needle and Songbirds fully staggers it in one attack, and it took me wayyyy too long to find out that other weapons have an effect.
That should be a speed run. Iceworm no stun needle.
When I first tried this mission I was blasting it with songbirds and I was able to get to the final phase but then I wouldn’t be able to get the damage out on the double shield it gets. Took me like 10+ tries before I quit out and reloaded later only to read the description for the mission saying to use the provided weapon…. Beat it first try after that

If you really want to do it, but efficiently: two bubble guns, one shoulder-mounted bubble cannon, and a pilebuker when its finally disabled.
It'll take a while, but this is the fastest way to chip at it's shield and still deal massive damage when it's taken down.
In other words, good luck.
The "Enjoy the show, and don't forget to smile" phrase is said if you bring the needle as well, its just part of the mission dialog.
