Great video. I'm going with the DTNVS as well. As soon as my kidney sells, I'll order them. In the meantime, my dual PVS-14's in a Wilcox bridge will have to get me by.

Dual 14's MO BETTA in every respect except one. Somewhat heavier. For me the advantages gained by dual 14's is far more important than the additional weight.

@@wherenowhow6037 I totally agree. Thats why I went with dual 14's in a Wilcox bridge. For the money the modularity and advantages can't be beat. It's really only a few ounces heavier than 31's and DTNVS.

Laser surgery is probably cheaper than the 31s. I got it in 2001 and it was $1000 for both eyes. My vision has declined slightly but most importantly it got me through an almost two year deployment, most of that time in Iraq, and 15 years in my current field without having to worry about glasses or contacts.

I’ve got 1531s and DTNVSs. Personally I think 1531s are a no brainer over 31s. Wait time on repairs is quicker than 31s since they are using 14 tubes. Also adjustable diopters like the DTNVS. Basically all the benefits of 31s with less cons. So if you are looking keep 1531s in mind. Especially if you live in areas where it gets snowy. Manual gain in a snowy area with a full moon is pretty nice to have.

@@KineticConsulting People posted some pics of zone 2 Blems in 31s that would bug me for the price. When your talking about 2376 min fom tubes cosmetics come into play for me. I can’t tell the difference between a 35 SNR and 38 for example, so at that level cosmetics come into play. Plus when you order from TNVC you can hand select basically a 2376 Fom tube and be assured of no blemishes and a killer halo and ebi. That why I went with the dtnvs it’s the tubes man!

I love my DTNVS, but my PVS31s have a clearer image. My DTNVS have a fantastic image don’t get me wrong but both housing have 2600/2700 fom tubes, all specs are very similar but the 31s just have a more polished image and they are getting close in price. I’ve seen 31s sell for $12,500 and $13,000 seems to be normal. Yes DTNVS can sell for $10,000 but you aren’t getting comparable tubes. If your getting the 24UA with minimum fom of 2400 your paying $11,000 to $12,000. Some websites will let you choose your tubes and that’s where you can save the most money. Cause you can find 18um tubes for $10,000 and be able to choose specs and find a 2800 fom no blem tube from a 18um batch.

You look through 2 lenses, the glass matters and 31's have better glass, beyond that I'm not sure about any other advantage. I have heard about the flash bang protection feature on the 31's, but I'm not an expert on that.

I don't think so. I prefer to buy better tubes

@@KineticConsulting NVinc sent me a set of DTNVS with 24UA tubes both at 2600ish FOM RPO objectives and Ether eyelenses for the same price as a set of PVS31As. With that set of tubes and lenses I have a very good value.

You said the weight is not a factor and you said you only notice the difference in weight if the difference is over 10%. However, according to your logic, the weight difference is noticeable. The PVS-31A weighs 15.84 ounces and the DTNVS is 17.9, a 2.06 ounce difference. The DTNVS is about 11.5% heavier. Just saying, based on your logic, you should tell the difference.

13 years ago I wore PVS-7s without counterweight on a 3.5 lb helmet, you get used to it, now my helmet is 1.7 lbs and panos and a battery pack. I have it so much easier now and the weight is almost the same.

YES. This is exactly what he needs! I love the content but the constant turning up and down of my volume gets pretty annoying.
