    Good afternoon, Jim. Another awesomely, terrifically, helpful video. You truly are a "go-to" guy for learning Luminar and for skills enhancement. I'm not trying to be overboard, but your teaching style is great and so easily understood and- more to point - so readily applicable.
    I know and I've heard you say numerous times that your focus is with landscapes and cityscapes. One thing I do know is that you get better when you focus on a genre to get better. Having said that, have you ever done any wildlife photography? I would love it and find it so useful if you could show us how to use Luminar in that photo genre - especially birds. To my knowledge, I've not seen any Luminar instructional videos for wildlife / birding. That is one of my top photo soots and Im "crazy" anxious to get help with Luminar for those photo shoots.
    Nonetheless, I'm extremely grateful for what you do to assist the photo community. Thank you ever so much!!!
    P.S. I am glad to see you making Lightroom videos, too. There are so many TH-cam options, but very, very few with your style and instruction capability. Keep them coming.

      Oh thanks so much for the kind words, I appreciate it. As far as birds go, I really never shoot them, or any wildlife for that matter. I don't have the lens or opportunity for it most of the time. But, I did rent a 100-400mm when I went to Iceland back in August and got some shots of the puffins, and the horses. I was actually considering a video about them. But this may not quite be what you are looking for, since shooting the puffins is pretty simple. Are there specific things about editing these types of photos that you are challenged with?

      @@JimNix Hey Jim. Thanks for your reply. For me, it's first the photographic skill of capturing a bird in flight. If I'm satisfied with the image, it's trying to post-process the image against the sky (the contrast can make it difficult for me to to properly process) or against sometimes noisy backgrounds while maintaining movement. Also, adequately and properly capturing the colors of their plumage without color casting the rest of the image.
      For birds, it's soooo critical to have sharp eyes and crisp feathers, and I don't seem to be able to bring these out as often as I want to do so. Some of that is photo technique and other times it's post-processing. I'm getting better technique-wise, but then I'm not happy with my post-processing skills.
      I understand if this is not your bailiwick, but I thought I'd ask. Nothing ventured, right?!?!?!!? In any event your landscape videos are exceptionally helpful to me. Love 'em!!!

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@heelfan78 ok thanks and yes I sort of thought it might be about birds in flight, which I just don't photograph. The puffins are mostly just sitting there LOL, so not a lot of technical prowess needed to capture those. Also, puffins are mostly black and white, so not a lot of color capture either. Regarding a regular bird with colorful plumage, I would do whatever color work needs to be done on the feathers with a brush mask so that you isolate that adjustment and don't throw off the rest of the colors. Thanks.

    I'm a Luminar 3 and Aurora HDR user, considering upgrading to Neo... one thing I've learned following Skylum is that their products are always "on sale"; I've never seen them offered at what they list as "regular price".

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes they run a lot of specials, including one for the next couple of days. And you can use coupon codes (I have one: JIMNIX15) to save 15% more. It's a good deal overall, and these are the best prices of the year. But if you are not in a hurry, there will probably be some sort of special in the new year sometime too.

    Hi Jim - another great video - I have a question regarding using Color Checker Passport foro Wedding and/or Stock Photography to get WB, White, Blacks and colors right - is this something you had a chance to look at or used with NEO. Be great to see a video on how to use in NEO?

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Michael and thanks but no I have not done a vide like that and don't plan to, as I don't use one. For my landscapes and cityscapes, I always adjust WB in post to get it how I want it to look. And since I don't shoot portraits, weddings or stock/product photos I haven't felt the need to have one. Thanks.

      Hi Chris and thanks so much. I love both apps but Luminar is my #1 and most used app (and thus more videos about it). It can depend on what you need/want to do to a photo but generally speaking I get 99% of what I need out of Luminar, and it's pretty easy to get up and running with too. Thanks.

    Hi there, just a quick question. Can I upload an image to the app and have it completely transform the image ? For example, I upload an image of a couple and ask it "transform the image to a painting-like image". Will it do this ?

    I'm new to NEO. Fluent in PS, LrC, and DxO. How do you mask a subject (animals in particular) in NEO, MaskAI does not find mammals and birds (eagles, lions, etc.) MaskAI finds flora and backgrounds, etc, but not animals.

    • @JimNix
      @JimNix  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I am hopeful they add animals to Mask AI in the future. In the meantime you have to use the brush mask for that. Thanks.

    Hi Jim. I miss being able to move the modules in the order I use them or hide the ones I don't use. I don't know if this is possible. I used to use Luminar in the past and I've come back with this version after so long. I miss as well a more precise highlights recover. Masking is ok but nothing extraordinary comparing with the competitors. Thanks for your awesome videos.

    Jim, always enjoy your videos. I have been in contact with Skylum to try and fix an issue I'm having. I wanted to contact you to see if you have ever noticed what I'm seeing. Whenever I work on a RAW image, as soon as I click and start adjusting, the image blurs ever so slightly until I stop the adjustment. Have you ever experienced this?

      @@JimNix minimalist photography is about stripping a subject down to its most elegant essence, creating photos that cut through the corner by emphasizing the essentials, including clean lines and empty spaces.
