I kind of hate how you miss this up about how that captured female soldier learns to find out that her country is the bad guy and even tries to kidnap the queen and kill killer but then changes her mind it really was a big part of the show
The real mvp is the father, he drop the convenience life of magic and live only with physical labor to learn and find a way to live without magic, so he can teach his children who can't use magic a way of survival without magic

But the main character isn't strong. He get his ass kicked multiple times. It's the mech that's durable because it's made of metal parts unlike others.
All I got from this monotomous video is that Rygart does something but lacks experience and skill and is ambushed, but is saved in the nick of time at the expense of some comrades dying. After some time Rygart does something again, he almost dies again and is defeated and his mecha disabled, but another coincidence happens and he's saved in the nick of time... Yeah I can see the plot armor from a mile away.

Well this came out first so technically Black Clover is Broken Blade, but in the past. Also the main character doesn't have any powers whatsoever. It's inferred that his lack of ability to manipulate quartz let's him be recognized by the ancient mecha as human. Where as the "magic"-capable humans are either unrecognizable to the machine or their ability interferes with it.
It's too bad they changed the story after episode 3? of the ovas, but it was still good. Spoilers after the anime... Manga is still going on, currently over 100 chapters but it's only updated quarterly and he's involved in the Kingdom of Assams second civil war. Delphine does have guns now, Rygart defeats his friend(forgot his name, been a long time) in a 1v1, there's a weaker mass produced version of Delphine for his squadron, he gets Sigyn, the King sleeps with his Secretary? Maid?, blonde guy forgot his name that's friends with tanned skin girl and her brother died, Cleo defects with her mother and grandmother and up to current chapter(s) he may or may not be bleeding due to a gun shot but I haven't checked if there's a new chapter yet.
His mech is powerful though. But is in a state of disrepair. Not to mention damged reactor cooling system. His weapons and new armor are not made of metal anymore too as the people forgot metallurgy. So the mech was actually stronger during it's first activation than later. But had absolute crap pilot. Later pilot improves and mech gets weaker.
