I found the Grav Hammer disappointing visually and audibly, my impression of the Gravity Hammer was that it was a rough crude weapon built for the powerful Brute race that could utilize such a weapon with devastating effect. I saw that the design and sound of older games represented this well but in Halo Infinite, the weapon seems more like nicely refined alien technology. The Gravity Hammer should be a loud, messy, powerful weapon.
well the banished are more refined than what the brutes were under covenant rule, their tech and combat methods have been improved under atriox to the point that they may even surpass what the covenant before him
Not only does the Hammer need it’s gravity effects back (at least ragdolling bodies) but it needs a better sound. I don’t think the Hammer has sounded good since Reach

The challenges always had a “play X matches” at the top, so if they keep that then it will always reward you for playing a match. People criticizing the challenges never mention this for some reason.
I only subscribed because my brother and I's first FPS game was Halo 2 on XBOX and that was in 2004. Ever since, we've never played XBOX, but we just recently purchased the Series X (for Halo & Fable) and PS5 (because we're Playstation fans) and I've been playing Halo MCC for the last 5 weeks. 224 hours in and I cannot stop playing. I've already beaten everything except ODST, and I've beaten 4 & Reach on legendary. I'm currently at Gravemind on Halo 2 and 3 levels in on Halo CE (had to take a break because I was stuck). Your the first channel that I've found that I can resonate with.
yeah im not a fan either :/ feels like they didnt have much of a choice though, there wouldnt be enough stuff that could be locked behind microtransactions without the armour coatings controlling everything from colour to texture...
Really good points there. I'd love 343 to make us able to toggle on or off the hit markers and sounds, to me this is the graphics and colours' job Oh and increase base spartan health by about 40%, like in 5 they are so weak once the shield is down it's so ridiculous and forgiving
11:45 Yes please, I played BlackOps Cold War the other day for the first time and the UI is like someone took a boiling diarrhea of menus, boxes and currencies whilst being hit by a tornado.
Absolutely agree with the shield damage issue and shields should be the original goldish yellow color regardless of team color. Also I’d like the option to remove team outlines entirely and use only nameplates to identify enemy players, ideally I’d like the return of red vs blue but we know that won’t happen.

Wow your suggestions on what you would change/fix in Infinite are top notch! I didn’t hear one thing in this video that I didn’t 100 percent agree with!👍
One thing you missed was the lack of physics in general, not just the Gravity Hammer. Grenades and rockets do not feature the complex and satisfying physics Halo 3 had but rather the simple physics we saw in Halo 4. I tried the nade + rocket test where you can deflect rockets in games like Halo 3 and it was nonexistent. So I imagine that Warthogs will barely react to the hammer, nades, or rockets.
I feel like the gravity hammer should have its current attack as an alt fire and bring back its original attack as its primary attack. so the primary is the standard attack that send things flying like halo 3 and the alt fire is a heavy swing that sends a shockwave like the tartarus' gavel
Regarding Battle pass progression, coming from Gears 5: Battle pass progression happens via Challenge stars, in addition to daily revolving challenges each operation (season) has it's own NUMEROUS categories to earn additional progression stars (battle pass xp) so at the very least, daily challenges will not be the ONLY means of XP for battle pass. Given the fact that the coalition is lending a hand in Halo's development and being a MS studio, I would not be surprised if everything related to battle passes followed the same structure as this.
343 is definitely making HUGE fuck ups by making the armor coating final, every time I find out more about infinite I loose more hope, now I hear that challenges are the ONLY source of XP? Might just have to switch to another game franchise or just MCC.....
The new highlight is a major no for me: - Hard to see when an opponent shields are down - Harder to tell enemies in general - Firing on an opponent looks bad in general, the red color blocks out the enemies armor. - Hard to hide in shadows - Can't really see armor or colors when in gameplay anyways
@seannelson95 Yeah I came into it with an open mind. Because I've always had the same thought. But honestly this new system makes it harder to see peoples armor during play. The red highlight blocks it all. Plus you don't really notice people's armor during the action of a match anyway. I think it would be cool of everyone's armor/color was showed off during the pre/post game animations, then it animates to red/blue just as the match starts. Might be a fair compromise and cool effect if done right.
The outline system is actually grim, takes away from the clean aesthetic which halo has always had. The entire hud needs to be re worked actually, it's too cluttered
@seannelson95 Yeah I'd like to see how that plays too. I just think red vs blue is clean and makes it so easy to tell who's who without taking away from the experience. One problem with team highlights is you don't have a clear sight on when a team members shields are down due to the highlight. This changes they way you might play. For example, you might throw a grenade near an enemy with their shield down if you know you nearby team mates aren't also down... Then again they could also create a better shield down animation to make it more clear. I just personally think their solving an issue that doesn't need solving. Show off everyone's armor during the pre game animation. You can't really enjoy armor types during play anyways. Unless it's something dramatic like the giant unicorn horn from H5 lol
I do agree with many of your points especially the gravity hammer. I just want it to feel more devastating then it is cause it is awesome when you send a warthog or mongoose flying over the map. Or wreck havoc on a group of enemies is so satisfying
I heard some people speculate that the "gravity" physics weren't added to gravity hammer yet, and I really hope they are right. My favorite uses of the gravity hammer are launching myself up to higher ground and knocking projectiles away.
My big gripes are a lot of what you mentioned plus the lack of blood painting the enviroment (don't care about MP but it was missing in the Campaign demo footage too). And I want to be able to disable the FoF system, just put a red tag above enemy heads.
What's everyone's thoughts on the Armor Coating system now that we've had a chance to see it in action? Personally I'm indifferent about it. I like the kinds of paints and coatings we can have. But, I do agree that a lot of people will end up looking the same. Is that necessarily a bad thing though? Idk.
My additional nit pick would be the player outlines, specifically your own team, it felt like a bit too much on the screen at some points would much prefer it to be just clan ID/gamertag overhead and no team outline. Totally agree with everything you mentioned Nick! Keep it up!
The One change I'd make is with the Radar. It's a "Motion" Tracker. Why wouldn't it show people moving in general unless they sprint, slide, Grapple or Shoot?
I'm glad you noticed this too. I'm so used to checking my radar before I turn a corner. I felt like I had no situational awareness and was getting flanked A LOT since it doesn't pick up when players are walking (which is almost as fast as sprint!).
This. Halo doesn’t flow as well without having complete awareness of your environment. Maybe for MLG/Hardcore playlists, but the rest of the game should have the regular radar
I wish they’d bring blood splatters back. Without it the guns feel like I’m shooting nerf darts. Makes it feel like Spartans are going “haha you got me! I’ll fall over now!”
I'm not a fan of Halo multiplayer going free to play. Shouldn't Halo still be a game we all get in line for and spend real money on? I used to get so excited about new map packs. BattlePass and Halo will never work well in my opinion.
Agree 99.9% with the medals critique. I want to avoid going to the dirt-covered aesthetic of H4; I love the clean colors in infinite and H5 and don't want to sacrifice. The nightmare and demon medals look dope!
Okay the subscribe gag at 6:10 is legit probably the only one of those "subscribe now here slides" in a video ive liked and actually laughed at, gg lmao.
I think the slide momentum build should just be a thing like I get how fun it is to spam slide in destiny and rewarding it is for movement but I think that having the momentum build first just keeps the game well paced and not having someone instantly 180 degree slide backwards instead of taking the fight more head on
FINALLY someone is honest about MCCs aim assist. Thank you. I love Halo. I actually enjoy it on controller but MCCs aim assist has spoiled everyone for far to long. Stop holding everyone’s hand and let them aim for themselves.
I wonder what if they made it so that you don't automatically get pulled towards the object or wall you grapple. So you can choose to sort of swing and stay in the air. And you can again get pulled by pressing a button or holding down the grapple button or something.
The battle pass only getting xp from challenges is an issue but I don't think it will function that way on full release considering they had 30 minute xp boosts consumables which lean more towards getting some xp from matches and challenges being bigger chunks of xp as well as the daily challenge kept resetting after its completion in the test flight giving players infinite challenges and allowing them to cap the test flight battle pass so I don't think anything we saw from the battle pass will be the completed system at launch
I actually like that you can run through team mates. Kinda annoying in the older games when a team mate spartan pushes you or bumps you off the map lol. Doesn't happen that often but it's still annoying

They don't slow down gameplay because they're optional. They were just an extra feature to make the game a bit cooler and now people are acting like 343 is doing them a favor by getting rid of a perfectly implemented feature. I'm down for however they change/improve them, but they really didn't need fixing.
@@Windjammer19 Did I say it was? Lmfao I'm pointing that out because surprise, the most played Halo game in the MCC is Halo 3, and guess what Halo 3 doesn't have?
Anyway... yeah they needed fixing. They're not competitively viable and I don't know if you noticed, but Halo Infinite is 10× more competitive than Reach/4/5 was. So get over it manchild, they don't want pros to just turn it off, they want them to actually use it too. It's not worth delaying the game over and they obviously want to monetize it. You also failed to realize this is a brand new engine, they can't just copy paste the ones they had from 5. You're stupid as hell tbh.
That clip at 3:25, aside from the original video reawakening my memories of my high school years, instantly gives me visions of Halo Infinite LAN parties
Guess I'm the only one who was a massive fan of halo 5 and it's movement system!
Agree with almost all of this! A great basis that can be even greater with the appropriate tweaks
Thank God I wasn't the only one who thought we should have more reasons to play the game other than "to do challenges to level up the battle pass", I did all of the weekly challenges the first day of the flight and there's only one daily challenge (at a time) you can do and I think that's a huge issue
Tech Preview, not even a beta, wait and see the final product.
@@OrionDawn15 i understand it was just a tech test, but I can still make comments about the state of the game, especially when launch is only a few months away.
At this moment I am in love with a you guys. Most of the response and criticisms is really well explained and useful. Great job guys, I wish this wouldn’t end but it will.
I’m so happy someone of bigger position brought up the slide, I was telling people on the discord that it felt somewhat clunky falling into the slide motion and I hadn’t got many people agreeing. It could go 50/50 and I’ll be fine with it, but I’m so happy someone who understands halo actually felt the same.
Thanks for touching on the menu point, something that is so small but so important
I want the ability to continuously slide down a hill, gaining momentum, then grapple something to fling up and snipe a distant enemy. *queue Titanfall
I personally think the slide mechanic should not exist in a halo game just because it will change how halo gun fights work completely
@@jaayseff9206 It will create a new dimension of Halo gameplay, let's not act like Halo 3 ended the franchise lmao
@@RAD1111able no... That was reach (lol)
I still hate coatings with a passion. Should have just made camos and patterns the coats and left color customization the same as before
yeah im not a fan either :/
feels like they didnt have much of a choice though, there wouldnt be enough stuff that could be locked behind microtransactions without the armour coatings controlling everything from colour to texture...
the best idea would be letting us customize the 7 layer system as well as have options to make your armor shiny or dirty
Really good points there. I'd love 343 to make us able to toggle on or off the hit markers and sounds, to me this is the graphics and colours' job
Oh and increase base spartan health by about 40%, like in 5 they are so weak once the shield is down it's so ridiculous and forgiving
Same, cannot *stand* hitmarkers. More so when the sound of them is almost louder than anything else. Hooefully there's a toggle.
Couldn't have said it better Nick. It wasn't a completed build but the certainly have stuff to work on, but they've also got me beyond optimistic.
I can’t wait for the next flight, can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the feedback
Best review video I've seen so far. Thanks for the rundown as someone who didn't get an invite!
Yo dawg if this campaign doesn't SLAP I'm going to terminate my existence
11:45 Yes please, I played BlackOps Cold War the other day for the first time and the UI is like someone took a boiling diarrhea of menus, boxes and currencies whilst being hit by a tornado.
I hope they add a dimmer on the out lines of the enemy players or a way to disable it
I hadn't heard the music until you showed it. It sounds so much like Mass Effect 3 in a lot of ways, that's awesome.
Also the sound of the gravity hammer, needs to be loud and proud. After all, it is a brute weapon.
id say bring back emblem customization, hud customization, and customize what sounds i hear. Ai voices, etc.
THANK YOU for mentioning the medals! that's been driving me nuts too
No assassinations! That's literally the ONLY gripe I have with this game
I'm glad they're not included, i never liked halo 4-5 and this makes it feel like the old CE game, besides the sprinting
@@edgaral 343 are adding them.

It was midnight when the PVP started on the east coast of the US I logged off only five minutes before it started and went to sleep.
I 100% agree the slide is delayed. Noticed that the 3rd or 4th time I tried it. Thank you for saying it
Absolutely agree with the shield damage issue and shields should be the original goldish yellow color regardless of team color. Also I’d like the option to remove team outlines entirely and use only nameplates to identify enemy players, ideally I’d like the return of red vs blue but we know that won’t happen.
I feel if they added the reach Credits back, we could use those credits to level up the battle pass so we’re not just challenge hunting
Damn bro. Nice to see you again. Watched all your videos back in the day. Made my day now watching a vid from you again:)
Good stuff man! I'm finally excited for a new halo game for the first time in a very long time!
WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT HOW YOU CAN UPRAGE THE THE BATTLE PASS USING CR??!! THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY I COULDN’T HAVE BEEN THE ONLY PERSON TO SEE AND USE THIS OPTION, RIGHT??!! I LITERALLY BOUGHT MY WAY UP TO LEVEL 12 USING MY ALLOTTED CR BEFORE I EVEN STARTED MATCH MAKING!! “I FEEL LIKE IM TAKING CRAZY PILLS!!”…
Well that sucks!!
Battlepass progression should be XP based from games with optional unlockables via challenges (armor pieces or effects etc)
Wow your suggestions on what you would change/fix in Infinite are top notch! I didn’t hear one thing in this video that I didn’t 100 percent agree with!👍
Gravity hammer’s sound design is just not like what a gravity hammer would sound like. Also the needler does not sound traditional.
Not a fan of the needlers sound either, but do tell me from your personal experience, what a hammer that distorts gravity sounds like
I agree it should be changed but the way you phrased that was funny
@@eazhe3716 It should sound like it's halo 3/reach counterpart. Should also function the same way too
One thing you missed was the lack of physics in general, not just the Gravity Hammer.
Great video Nick! Very happy to see your success on TH-cam and Twitch 🔥 Youre an incredible content creator
My biggest issue at the moment is the lack of environmental objects and things you could interact with other than players, guns and equipment!
I'm with ya here - give the environment some physics and the worlds will come to life
I feel like the gravity hammer should have its current attack as an alt fire and bring back its original attack as its primary attack.
so the primary is the standard attack that send things flying like halo 3
and the alt fire is a heavy swing that sends a shockwave like the tartarus' gavel
Needs more map interaction such as grav lifts and teleports. And the unique interactions like the halo 3 maps
The thumbnail looks like chief is passing you a huge joint
The new highlight is a major no for me:
- Hard to see when an opponent shields are down
- Harder to tell enemies in general
- Firing on an opponent looks bad in general, the red color blocks out the enemies armor.
- Hard to hide in shadows
- Can't really see armor or colors when in gameplay anyways
Reach had the best menu design in any game ever
Agreed, haven't played the OG Reach but from what I've seen it's insane.Generally I like Reach's art direction best.
Idk.
Yes.
My additional nit pick would be the player outlines, specifically your own team, it felt like a bit too much on the screen at some points would much prefer it to be just clan ID/gamertag overhead and no team outline. Totally agree with everything you mentioned Nick! Keep it up!
As a counter point I think they should keep outlines for team mates only
@@DreamClean or give control to the player and allow you to remove it personally.
@@geraltofrivia3242 good shout! Hopefully a on/off toggle cam be a setting they introduce. Giving everyone an option.
The medal thing isn’t a nit pick.
Everything u brought up with things that need to be fixed we’re things I had a problem with. Besides the gravity hammer.. so well done 👍🏻
Because it tones down the 30m wall hack everybody has and forces you to be more aware of your surroundings and allow for more interesting engagements.
I wish they’d bring blood splatters back. Without it the guns feel like I’m shooting nerf darts. Makes it feel like Spartans are going “haha you got me! I’ll fall over now!”
I would say that one big issue I had was not having any ui text feedback for picking up equipment like halo 3
I'm not a fan of Halo multiplayer going free to play.
Shouldn't Halo still be a game we all get in line for and spend real money on?
I used to get so excited about new map packs.
BattlePass and Halo will never work well in my opinion.
I was listening to something called Halo podcast evolved and they said they were genuinely scared for the species after seeing the bots
Love your vids nick
Wow! The music was awesome that brought some memories back
The gravity hammer does still have gravity effects, but strangely it only works on allies.
One thing I didn't like was about the pistol
It took 6 shots to down shields in both the body or all head shots
Can really see the hope in your eyes in this video, glowing brightly!
Doesn't happen that often but it's still annoying
so hyped!
We need more quirky maps and ways to interact with the environment + better physics!
I like being able to walk through team mates because I have been killed so many times because a teammate getting in the way
