Jack: Keeps talking and showing how USA and Alaska have a long coastline
Also Jack: Forgets about Canada being right next door with almost twice as long coastline lol
True, I was thinking this the whole time.
Same
canada was my first guess for longesr
Hg
I kept thinking that.
Jack constantly missing Canada is hilarious
Canada hos the longest coastline in the word
bro gonna get called out by his Canadian viewers
I was waiting for so long

Bro I was bouta comment because Canada has a coastline of over 220,000
Jack: The USA has the longest coastline
Also Jack: Looks at a map to confirm but chooses to ignore Canada
Canada: Has the longest coastline by far
No Norway dose
@@RylanandGraham Well, technically they're all infinite so it's a stupid debate to have.

I wonder how he didnt even mention canada in the vid

Jack: USA has the longest coastline.
Canada: are you sure about that.
As a Canadian this put a hole in my heart
Yeah, me too :(
The US will have the longest coastline after the invasion.
Im suffering with you friend as a fellow québécois
I was wiat for him to clock it but he never did :(
Facts
Canada actually has the most with 265,052km of coastline according to the game, well done Canada 🇨🇦
Damn. A whole 265 kilometers? Das crazy.
265 kilometers is kinda small ngl
Why thank you

Canada when Jack is looking at a map: ceases to exist
Jack confidently knowing the right answer and clicking the wrong answer is just another level of content I'm looking for
Haha we loved that bit too
Norway and Finland have an enormous coastline because of their thousands of islands which really add up
norway doesn't have many islands (compared to finland), it's the fjords that make the coastline so long
@@nzredwolf4048 Norway has the second most islands behind Sweden and Finland is third
@@cleverstone1097 ah, i did not know that
What about the country that has most islands ( sweden)
and i did it like that cuz i don't want to get banned
Jack: goes on about the USA having such a long coastline
Every Canadian watching: no no no!
Real (From a Canadain)
Is it really even a coastline if it's all frozen? I mean what good is it if I can't go to the beach?
That’s so real (canadian)
So true
all of its not really "frozen"@@xviper2k
1:41 jack thinks Portugal and Norway are almost the same 💀💀👍🏻
As a Norwegian I feel kinda offended
Norway's coastline is actually very controversial. Depending on which agency does the measurements the lengths are very different. This is due to the coastline paradox. Would recommend watching some youtube videos on it cause it really is quite cool. Basically a coastline does not have a defined length, but the smaller your unit of measurement, the more precise the total length is. Because of fjords and having about 240K islands, Norway's coastline is massive. But if you use a large enough unit of measurement, many of those become insignificant. Wikipedia uses 2 sources for the coastlines of countries, and Norway is either the 2nd or 7th longest coastline, so there really is a big difference.
Keep up the great up! My Geography has improved so much since I started watching your videos! Thank you!
I feel like deifining the length of a coastline is quiet difficult due to the coastline paradox so idk what data this game is based on but it feels strange because an argument for different lenghs can easily be made
As far as I can tell, the source this game uses is the World Resources Institute, but yeah, I agree that it does feel a little strange.
Someone's watched a RealLifelore video
Everyone: talking about Jack saying the US has the largest coastline in the world when it’s actually Canada
Me: wondering why the US has a bigger coastline than Norway in the game because Norway has the second most coastline behind Canada
same
I think it depends on whose measurements you use. As far as I can tell, the source this game uses is the World Resources Institute.
probobly because of the coastline paradox. It's impossible to really say what the coastline of a country is because the more accurate you are the more tiny details appear. If you get too accurate the coastline gets magnitudes longer/shorter over the day because of tides.
@@of3788but Norway still doesn’t have only half of the amount of coastline that the US has
@@unknownplayer978 the point of my comment is it's technically impossible to say how long any coastline is, maybe the agreed upon estimate that your talking about is but different estimates get very different answers.
Look up the paradox if you want
Amazing. Great score. Some brilliant question combinations. We were praying for Canada to pop up :D Thanks so much for playing!
Hi jack, i just wanna say: I've watched you for 2 years and you've inspired me in geography. THX ❤
*THX sounds getting progressively louder*
The islands in the Nordic countries also add up to the coast line (Finland, Norway and Sweden are the top 3 countries with most islands, all have between 178,947 to 267,570 islands. In comparation, Canada is in 4th place with 52,455 islands)
Jack is making so many unusual noises in this video and they'll all make good no context clips.😂
im doing geography at school and your videos really help me with it!
As a Canadian citizen, I am slightly offended that you didn't even mention us at all in a coastline video, being the longest and all lol

6:08 Just so you now there are 2 main reports of coastlines in countries. The app jack is playing with follows the world resources institute report
However the world factbook report(by CIA) is used by Wikipedia and most encyclopedias according to which USA is 9th and the top 3 are:-
1.Canada 202,080 km
2.Norway 83,281 km
3.Indonesia 54,716 km
However the report by world resources institute which is followed more is:-
1.Canada 265,523 km
2.USA 133,312 km
3. Russia 110,310 km

Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
I was genuinely really surprised to hear that Jack has never heard of Macau.

Fun fact: you cant really know the real coastline of a country because you it’s depend’s on the ruler’s size
OMG WHAT AN ORIGINAL FACT NOBODY HAS EVER HEARD OF
it will be cool if you would do a country rating video
Yea
Nice educational fun video jack
Love this, you always make me smile Jack 💕
Jack getting really into his borders and coastlines lol
Jacks giggles are the best I love his giggles!
Thank you jack,as I started learning countries after watching your videos and now I know every single country in the world and by best time is 8:59
What you have to realise is that the Nordic countries have a lot of islands and their coastlines add up a massive lot to the coastlines as well.
you still have to do that flag tier list if you havent started already
Well according to my calculations it is subjective which one is longer, I could explain but I would recommend RLL video on it. actually I will explain, so basically it's called the coastline paradox, let's say you had 4 massive rulers to measure the UK. it wouldn't be very accurate, because the rulers are to big to measure the details, but if you were to use 8 rulers to measure it instead, it would be like 400km larger. That principal can go on infinitely, like if you were measuring with a 1cm ruler the uk would be 100,000km instead of 8,000km and if you measured using atoms there would be so many twists and turns, that it would be something like 100sextillion km. I know it sounds unbelievable but it's true, I would recommend watching the real life lore video, as he explains further.
I'm not reading that
Always wondered why we can't just use the same ruler. I guess that would be wrong aswell...
@@jesenlivesly8347 lol, just watch real life lore's video on it instead!
And by the way, if you wanted to know what a sextillion is here you go, 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

The fact that Jack knew who Lewis was at the end made my day.
9:24 Jack… Indonesia isn’t even top 10 biggest
Jack is the type of guy to feel sorry for a country not with its friends
You. Don't ever forget my country again, or we'll drown you in maple syrup!
Norway also has a ton of fjords and areas that jut into the mainland, which creates a lot of coastline and islands
This was pretty interesting seeing him learn the coastlines
And didn't learn about the longest coastline ( canada ) with almost double compare to US
Jack: The USA must have the longest coastline in the world
Canada:
Jack thought about USA , Russia and Brazil for longest coastline but not even thought of Canada
1:39 Jack when he realises Norway has one of the longest coastlines in the world (I did some quick Googling and some sources say it’s #2 or #3)
9:20 indonesia is the 14th biggest country.. its definitely not top 5
Jack: the USA has the longest coastline

Jack: I’m pretty sure that the USA has the longest coastline!
Also Jack: Forgetting Canada the whole video, (he even scrolled right past it, when he was looking at how "long" USA’s coastline is)
Me The Whole Video: 🤦🏻♂️ Canada has the longest coastline Jack, not USA!
Actually, longest coastline is either Norway or Sweden. It is a little bit disputed because of the coastline paradox.
@@thetriplee6181 I searched it up and it said "Norway has the second longest coastline in the world after Canada, with a length of 100,915 km including all the islands" and it said "Sweden enjoys 3,218 km (2,000 mi) of coastline, much of it in the Baltic Sea"
As a Canadian I’m deeply offended that Jack didn’t even consider Canada as the longest (which it is) I was just hoping it would pop up just so I could see is reaction
9:21 Indonesia is one of the top 5 biggest countries
-Jack 2023
Latvia : You made me proud of my loss 😅
Finland doesn’t have a coastline at the top 0:49
Jack is like: USA has the largest coastline.
Canada: Am I a joke to you?
The reason Norway is so big (2nd longest in the world) is cus Norway has their famous Fjords that stretches hundreds of kilometers inland. Coastline is also counted with the islands and Norway has the second most islands in the world. Also svaldbard is kinda big.
You know what's funny? Jack has been talking about USA having a very large coastline but he completely forgets about Canada lmao
I hear crying Canadian noises 3:36
