Nice recipe Sam! The Family LOVED IT! I added a slight twist by cutting a garlic clove in half and adding them to either side of the chickn face down. After chicken cooked I squeezed the roasted garlic paste into the pan added some flour and a cup of chicken broth to create a nice sauce for the chicken. Thanks for continuing to deliver great recipes combined with humor. Cheers!

The wife just said she's got a taste for lemon chicken, and I got a whole chicken in the freezer in need of some love... Thanks Sam! (Max & Chance too)
So, I tried this myself, and the chicken was good ( I generally like lemon garlic chicken). I did the potatoes the same way with some instant garlic mashed mix and the corn flakes crumbs, and they really were busting! Great flavor! And that's what it's all about.... the flavor!
Sam, I wore my STCG vegan shirt the other day and a woman from out of no where points at me and tells her friends “vegan, he gets it”. Little did she know.

5 stars, amazing chicken! We made it with shiitake mushrooms and asparagus with olive oil salt/pepper parsley instead of the deep-fried mashed potatoes but it was phenomenal. We couldn't find soy paste in Kitchener, so we used soy sauce which still worked out. So good. Thank you Sam and crew. This and your panini from last year is a family favorite.
I made the chicken portion of this last Saturday since the rain kept us from grilling. This turned out amazing. The lemon really made the flavor "pop". My wife and kids loved it, this was awesome the next day as a leftover too. Thanks for another great recipe.
Made this tonight, and also used the roasted garlic that I made for the first time (because I didn't have one of those super-cool garlic presses). It's in the oven now in my 12" cast-iron-but-not-STCG-but-still-works-great pan. Can't wait to try it!
Made this for dinner and it was a hit! Truly the most delicious and juicy chicken I’ve ever made. This will be a staple for our family for sure! Also, I didn’t have the soy paste this time but I improvised and used soy sauce (eye balled it) and it was fine! Still getting the soy paste for next time though!! 😎
I happened to have ALL the ingredients for this in house this evening. Whole chicken wings instead of a whole bird, but it’s all in the oven and looking/smelling amazing right now! Can’t wait to see those Jerry Rolls in an upcoming episode. Jerry rolls, man.

I just made it today for me and the family. We loved it, though we made it with steamed haricot verts and just before serving, a glob of the butter used on the chicken, amazing
A tip for this recipe, if you can't find soy paste it's easy to make! I used a half cup soy sauce, and a teaspoon of cornstarch and water. Mix cornstarch and water and add it to the soy sauce then render it down to thickness. Worked like a charm!
This is a holy grail of a chicken dish. My added mods. 1. Large stuffing mushrooms. 2. Used two shots of brandy instead of wine. 3. Four (4) large cloves garlic. 4. Skipped Chinese sauce. 5. One small minced scallion
I made this, got the butter underneath the skin, used a thickened teriyaki sauce instead of soy sauce, used a rosemary garlic and sea salt seasoning cause i didnt have rosemary. It came out as the most crisp chicken ive ever made in the oven not as crispy as pan fried chicken but up there.
Just made two of these for dinner last night. All the guests loved it. I did make a rookie mistake of adding a teaspoon of Soy sauce rather than paste, as I didn't have the latter on hand, only to realize soon after that butter and liquids don't mix! It's like trying to combine oil and water. So the marinade didn't go on the chickens as well as I wanted it to but they were still juicy, delicious and flavorful. Thanks STCG!
I picked up a pair of "Milwaukee" tool brand scissors at the local Lowes store and use them to spatchcock my chickens.. They work great. Almost like they were made for it. Thanks guys!
11:42 Sam, there's a better way to do the spatchcocking part where you flatten the chicken: • first, remove the wishbone. • second, use a knife to cut the membrane behind the keel bone, then as you open up the chicken, you'll see the bone exposed. It is going to have a dark red color. Grip that and rip the whole thing clean off the chicken. It gets in the way of carving the chicken anyway, so it's a good idea to remove it if you want the chicken to be flat.
Hey Sam, I just want you to know that I have a whole playlist devoted solely to your cooking. YOUR COOKING! Even if I haven't tried it yet, or don't want to, it's going in that playlist. By the way, my friends think your garlic-bread pizza is f***ing amazing! And they're absolutely correct, but for my friends who don't like onions, I leave them out. I also use San Marzano crushed tomatoes when I can find them because they're easier. That marinara sauce recipe is also wonderful on homemade pizza, spaghetti, and anything else Italian that calls for it. I'm a huge fan. Thanks for all the culinary joy!

Made this last night. It didn't look as good as yours but it still was good. I brought leftovers to work and everyone loved the smell of the chicken. I sent one of my coworkers your video to try it.
I gotta say it. When you cut lemons and cut through the pits, you're adding bitterness because when pits are cut they are bitter. It takes time, but it's best to cut the lemon and remove the pits as you go.
