    I got 5 albums and ended up paying almost $300. I’m with you.

      Ai… that is intense. About a week ago we had the big record fair here in the Netherlands and I went home with 24 albums (lot’s of OG’s!) for 220,-.

    Because those are limited pressings they think they can ask the price that they want, but in the end it will kill the vinyl industry.

      Good rant dude . lol. . Gen Z are gonna keep the prices high for vinyl . Old and new .
      There were plenty of fantastic releases this RSD .. maybe they were cheap …..with inflation for everything the last few years maybe in a few years they will seem cheap .
      I lined up in Vancouver and scored many including the Bowie . And I was travelling from Australia.

    A cousin of mine who lives in Canada went at 9:00 am, which was opening time, and there was a line that was a block long. I wanted the Talking Heads album and I couldn't get it. They only had 8 copies. I had to order one now on discogs, it's a shame because resellers often take advantage of these situations with collectors

      @arzabael 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Resellers camp out and go through hell when it comes to sleeping eating and going to the bathroom, what the other people are paying for is a premium of blood sweat and tears. And yes it could be solved if the labels just made enough for everyone.

    I stayed out front of a record store that opened at 10am from 8pm the night before and I was fourth in line

      Nice! Which records did you get?

      Oh you know, same things everyone else wanted basically, I didn’t get the Bowie I don’t know what I was thinking

    The closest store to me is 360 KM away so my RSD was an online experience. I came across only 1 Bowie copy across 4 online stores and it was grabbed by someone else as I tried to add it to my cart. I managed to get some other titles from 2 different stores, and at least 1 store had Free Shipping when I spent 150 CAD. It's a costly venture but I have been a music fan all my life, so what the heck 😀 Cheers

    I do believe they are pressing these RSD titles in smaller quantities. To justify the higher prices.
    I got a nice 2LP Thin Lizzy live for $40.

    • @top5records796
      @top5records796  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s nice! What is the Thin Lizzy live album like?

      @ediblehorse 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@top5records796 It's a vinyl copy of one of the shows from the Live and Dangerous CD box set. Off the top of my head, Hammersmith Nov 16 1976. Pro recorded.

    Yeah, was in Amsterdam as well. Expensive as hell for some releases for sure. However, I do know that for some it is also due to the extremely high import/shipping prices for overseas products these days (also for businesses, especially smaller ones with small batches). This is why some US pressings have a more normal price in the USA but are very expensive here, and vice versa (talking official RSD MSRP on day 1 here). I used to import quite a bit, but that has stopped since last year. Now, it sometimes it costs like 40 euro's to just ship, even for preorders from a label.
    And yes, record fairs are usually a better spot to hunt for good releases and deals. Last year I got some older pressings of favourite records that went for like 120+ euro's on discogs for 50-60 euro's on a fair. There are always some sellers that will have good/fair pricing there.

    The shops don't see me on RSD! Yes too high prices! Many people are dumb to pay such prices. It s only a party for the shop owners.

    Concerto Amsterdam isn’t the best record store in the Netherlands. Try Sounds in Delft and you’ll be surprised how great and eclectic their selection is, so many new and excellent quality second hand releases for decent prices, certainly my favourite record shop in the Netherlands.

      Thanks! I would put Sounds in Delft in my top 5!

    I totally agree. I purchased the Doors live LP as it was the only thing I was after, but it wasn’t fun shelling out £75 for what is essentially a better quality bootleg of a show you can already buy on bootleg vinyl. It’s pretty rubbish. Also I really wanted the Pearl Jam Dark Matter RSD release, but all sold out in our UK stores and now all on Ebay for £70. What a joke. RSD just isn’t really a fun experience at all.

    Hope someone gets you a Bowie lp... I'll see if i can find you one tomorrow. I missed rsd on saturday and sunday. Came into london today and whilst on ' lunchbreak' hit rough trade soho, sounds of universe and found some good titles. Bowie was in reckless for £26. Most expensive was yusuf lateef £58 in rt and also got de la soul live for £30 in s.O.T.U.

      Oh thank you! That’s very kind! I was lucky enough to find a Bowie RSD on discogs just after I made the video (for 37,- so I am kind of lucky).

    Thanks for sharing your experiences. I didn't go to RSD, mainly because of the fact that - besides the John Lennon EP and Elton 2LP - there was nothing I needed. But I'm also waiting for the John Lennon box set (Mind Games), upcoming Elton John releases (rumors are GBYBR and Captain Fantastic), Neil Young Archives III, Rubber Soul.. Golden Earring. So much to save money for :) ~ Marjet

    I got The Doors album... on CD though! That was £17 at Banquet Records in Kingston, UK. The vinyl was £69!! Too much of a difference for me.

    • @top5records796
      @top5records796  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That difference is enormous. How does the CD sound?

    I made the effort of travelling into town to purchase an album and they had sold out of the record I wanted. I've just looked on eBay and there's two copies on for double the price. It's so infuriating

    I drove 2 hours each way to attempt to get The Beatles record player and discs for $180(way overpriced but I’m an avid collector) and the store got 8 of them. Unfortunately I was #9. I did pay $30 for a John Lennon glow in the dark ep. I bought it so the Lennon estate won’t go bankrupt. lol. The real zinger was while in line I went on eBay and saw what I really want from the store I was at for $380. The dude was sitting in the parking lot listing on eBay. WTF

      I’m sorry to hear that. These small quantities do take away the fun of it.
