    It took me a while to realize what Karl was talking about with the problem gene/hole/tube nonsense, but I sincerely believe he's talking about the human consciousness's propensity to search for problems to solve, which is a fairly high level idea. The main reason why people have problems is because of their expectations and their inability to adjust them.
    Problems end up going away if you believe that's just the way that things are. Additionally, more problems will crop up after you solve whatever big problem you have in life, so they never really stop coming. It's always a dance of fixing problems and finding new ones.

    Karl makes an interesting distinction with his thoughts on not enjoying things until afterwards, you might very well be enjoying something while it's happening, but it's always a retroactive judgement that establishes 'enjoyment' as fact.

      That’s absolutely proper. As to do is to be and I can say Karl is the very most “be” compared to any human being on earth. He’s being way more than us intellectuals. I recognize you

    I’d have love to seen Karl pointing at Steve when he said that

    I like his observations of the ants... Especially when Susan killed them with the hot water, and the returning ants appearant confusion and remorse. I believe other creatures feel these things, and it is egotistical to think they don't. In my opinion, Karl is showing great empathy. It's a shame the other two don't have that empathy...

      You clearly haven’t listened to his feeling towards homeless people and gay people if you think he’s got “great empathy”

      I've often thought about that sorta stuff, but people mature even when they're older and you'd expect them to think that some of the things they said were in bad taste.

  • @lindatruderung9378

    @wddilly8488 He doesn't understand them. He still shows compassion to them. He will help the homeless with giving them a bit if money. If he lacked compassion, he would ignore them, and walk away.
    Karl simply does not understand them. He has said as much. But when it comes down to helping someone who is suffering... He has helped folks, regardless of what they believe, or their emotional leanings.

    Genuine question; what happens to those ants who return to a destroyed nest? Do they get together the stragglers and start over? Do they go and look for another nest/army to join? Or do they drop out, grow a beard and start hitch hiking?

    • @RosaScapes
      @RosaScapes 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They simply circle the nest and all other ants will join in and follow those circling the nest until they die of exhaustion. I believe its called a death circle.

    I agree with Karl. If you can't use what you learn, than it is pointless to have learnt it. Spend more time learning things that you can use and benefit from knowing. There is little point in learning about dramatic arts, if your ambition is to own and operate a farm... Unless you figure that putting on a play for your cows, will increase milk production. LOL 😂

    funny how ricky and steve never heard of nostalgia 25:00 Specifically its a cognitive bias called "rosy retrospection" Where we recall the past being better than it actually was.
