There's a Survivor 2. It's basically an odd retelling of Code Veronica. Claire and Steve fight through maps of CV and Nemesis is there for some reason. It's been a few years since I saw footage of it, but it might be worth looking at, since REmake 2 is coming out soon, plus it's fairly obscure and Resident Evil. Seems like it's be right up your alley.
I got this game for Christmas off eBay when I was 9. Going into it I knew it was already bad but I beat it twice; it’s something I think every fan of the series should at least try. The environments and imagery is very stunning for a very rushed game.
Interesting thing about this game: The European and Japanese versions are a light gun game, but they got rid of that functionality for the US release due to Columbine
I owned this game. It did not come with a Lightgun, I had two left over from purchasing copies of Time Crisis One and Point Blanc 1. I love the videos Muta.
I remember playing this game without having any experience on RE games and I remember I was just horrified. This game even dough it kinda sucks but it always has a dear place in my heart hahah
I agree with you about the graphical style. I really like it. It's amazing for horror type games like silent hill. I really like clunky looking games. I'd like to see it brought back for some modern horror games.
I've been subbed for a while but recently found your content because of diablo immortal memes. So glad I found this channel. I've started really getting into diablo 3 and playing the story. Such a brilliant game! Also this game looks like trash but I like your editing with the side bars. Makes it so watchable
I think the reload problem is not there if you had lightgun, because they likely did reloading like most other lightgun games and you reload by shooting outside the screen. and the lightgun functionality was completely removed in western versions because of one of mass shootings or other happening back then
There are multiple routes that open up the lore and give you more story. Plus you get to keep whatever weapons you get during your playthrough for the next one.
had this game with the lightgun back in the day, was pretty badass at the time tbh. I thought it was cool as fuck you werent on rails and could walk around by aiming the gun off screen and pulling the trigger.
Even by the standards of the earlier RE games this had bad voice acting. Like the bit where Ark hears a recording of Vincent's mother telling him to come home.
My father played that on the PS1 when I was a little kid, I always wanted to play that game, I don't know why but I kinda loved it back then. But he always hid the game from me lol. I'm wondering why you didn't show the intro sequence though :(
the main character sounds like the type of pimpley faced dude who serves you your mcdolnalds food lmao. i feel like the team that made this game went to mcdolnalds and once they heard the cashier's voice they were like "yes this is the shitty ass voice actor we need for the game!"
This looks really good, i'd imagine that if you had the light gun to go with it you would have had a blast. I'm also a fan of RE in general, I give it all a try. Which so far i beat 1-7, operation raccoon city, revelations 1. I personally never got around to beating code name veronica and zero even though I do own them.
It would actually be pretty cool to see RE7s engine do environments like these, just make the gameplay better but keep all the EXCELLENT acting. It really adds to the game :D
I actually just completed this about a year ago. (Had an N64 during the ps1's heyday) The ending is slightly lackluster. Honestly your regulars would definitely watch. But a triple a title it is not.
Also, this game was meant to be controlled by nothing but the Lightgun. You have to use the tiny D-Pad on the Hammer of the gun to move, and there were the A and B buttons on the barrel by the tip of the gun so you had to hold it like a rifle with two hands most of the time even though you primarily use the pistol the entire game. I thought it was funny that the boss was (SPOILER) Tyrant. If I remember correctly this game was released around the same time as RE: Outbreak, which was much more widely received amongst the community if I remember correctly.
This was originally a light gun on-rails arcade game in Japan. The original arcade was actually pretty good/fun. The ports on the other hand... well, you see for yourself
I played this game on the PS1. I actually didn't dislike it. I found it to be good as I wasn't old enough to understand Survival Horror, and yes, I played RE games when I was 10ish or so. Allowed in my country, don't worry.
I played this some I dunno... 20 years ago? I was still quite young, but this was the 2nd RE game I could play on my own.. the first being RE2.. for some reason... RE1 and 3 I couldnt manage.. This one seemed obscenely easy for me.. and I beat it without too much trouble.
I actually enjoyed this game, but i did play it with a lightgun, but hard mode was absolutely broken, as the spiders would one shot you, so unless if you were god like, you couldn't 100% this game which sucks, as a rail gun shooter it's not that bad.
I completed this game back when i was a kid and i didn't even know it's crap or not, i was just playing every Resident Evil games that were released in PS1 because i love survival game LOL
People praise RE7 as "NEW TAKE ON RESIDENT EVIL" but it seems it is an old take made new and actually good. Heck, even the lightgun integration is there... With it being changed to VR.
"Quake 3 arena" "Mr.Pants excessive mod" FTW. (On PC anyway). Only first person shooter I ever geeked out on and I was about the the most hardcore mofo on there. Clans like HOC, DMF and a few others used me to find people cheating because if they could beat me they were cheating. I was the aim bot killer. His_own clan and Die Mother Fucker were some of the best clans on the game when I played and the most badass players were the leaders of the clan and I'd waste them like they were newbs. If you saw how my field if view and everything in my config file looked you wouldnt understand how I could own so many people let alone see them, with such a shitty comp and terrible FPS. Just a keyboard and mouse is all I used. This was back around the year 2000.
This game reminds me the game which is The House of the Dead. I mean you have first person view, crosshair on center of your screen and interface kinda similar to the house of the dead.
Man everyone dragging RE survivor. say what you will but I had fun playing this cheesy train wreck. god I miss old resident evil. where one second you have characters lie barry and carlos dropping cheesy dialogue and the next second your running away from a bio weapon that just tentifucked a comrade through his face hole.
This game with the gun-con is legit the only game my mother will play. She got used to that annoying two button tank controls and thinks a joystick is hard. If you play this with the gun con its way more janky theirs a button on either side pressing the left turns left the right turns right Pressing both buttons makes you run To walk backwards you aim away from the screen and press both buttons That is janky as hell and she calls joystick controls hard lol
In my opinion? I would say that yes, it is an absolutely awful game. But there could have been some minor quirks that could have been fixed as well as added. 1. The obvious, you've already pointed that one out. The infinite ammo. It's not much of a survival horror if you first start out with the said infinite ammo. It's just plain unrealistic. I for one don't even play with infinite ammo in any of the games, to begin with, because it takes the spark out of the excitement. 2. The hit detection. I am guessing for its time they couldn't make it to where you could shoot the zombies in the head. That would have worked would have been that if they wanted to go the route of first-person. It could have worked like the way they made it in Code Veronica. 3. Where's the combat knife? I get that it's supposed to be an arcade shooter, but they have made it impossible. Unlike the rest of the Resident Evil games in the franchise, why not only give the player the option of using the said knife but even program it to where it can pierce through a zombie's skull. 4. The voice acting. Yes, this one is another obvious factor to bring to the table. But yes, if you thought that the original Resident Evil voice acting was bad, this one surpasses it by far. At least int he first one, the controls and game were good overall. Honestly, I would have been happy if they just kept it as captioned. That would be alright with me if you were to remake this game. 5. The Music. Yeah, dubstep just doesn't work in this game. 6. A Trophy Awarding system. Well, I would probably be the first to admit that I keep playing the game to earn trophies, particularly, the platinum overall. But if this game could get an HD remake with a trophy awarding system, then I would already have an idea for the platinum trophy name: "Worst Game Ever". That way Capcom would acknowledge their mistake and at least poke fun at it with the game's improvements that I listed above. Overall, I don't even care if it was a super short game. it would have been even a nice little add-on as a DLC to some other RE future games. I simply just like to play these games for the story.
Thoughts?

ghey
To be honest with the light gun on a CRT this game isnt even that bad to play. Sure the voice acting is shitty but we expected that from old RE games.
I wanna give u handshake tooo

Agreed!
@Gooch Chibbles Best Resident evil game is obviously Dead space

The game came with a light gun in europe and japan. But the functionality got stripped out of the US version cause of Columbine I think
