    I just made a new video explaining all the features in the FREE version of the Stop Motion Studio app (on an iPhone) but hopefully it will be of some help to everyone, no matter what phone type: th-cam.com/video/-9KXIdQ7fWM/w-d-xo.html If I can get my hands on an android I will make a separate video dedicated just to that too. Also don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to be notified of any new videos I make 😎

      @@mozart7074 Non-binary? It's feeling like your have both gender qualities, so sort of being more neutral. I prefer to be seen as a person rather than male or female... I've always presented androgynously, just because that's who I am... so people often can't figure out my gender anyway. Honestly it shouldn't really matter, right? I hate labels. People should come to my channel to learn and enjoy the teaching... not because of what's in my pants - that would just be creepy lol.

      Nice one, thank you so much for your thoughts! I am so pleased you have said this actually because I was struggling to understand who my core audience was. As a creator I much prefer doing the more advanced stuff too - I like animating something fun and then explaining how I did it. I promised that I’d make this one for the eight or so people that have asked. There’s also been a regular request for one on green screen... but will try and get a nice juicy more advanced one ready for you for next week :)

    Wow! This was incredibly helpful. I'm toying with the idea of doing stop motion videos for my channel (as a fun, different way to relay writing advice) and your video was insanely helpful at getting me started since I'm working with limited videography gear. Boiling it down the most budgeted items every videographer has (sunlight & a smartphone) was awesome. Thank you. One question: your proper LEd light, what brand is that? I like the simplicity of it and the light was great in the opening of the video. Thanks again. Subscribed to all.

    • @Animatortor
      @Animatortor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much!! You should definitely do stop motion videos, they are so much fun for sure :) My lights are YN600LED - from Amazon... they have 600 LEDs, 300 white and 300 tungsten... you can have all one or mix the two depending what colour temperature you want. I like the versatility that gives as well. I've had them for quite a long time so I am not sure if the exact ones are still about... but there are definitely similar ones. Obviously if you want to do stop motion properly you do need lights, and you should be controlling the light. But if you are just starting out... on a cloudy day, in the hours of daylight that are consistent, you can get alright results too :)

    I use it on my tablet and when I make my animations I sit it on a canvas holder or whatever they are called I sit my tablet on it and make sure the camera isn't facing near the wood and then I make a grey background with a lid to a tub and then sit a box in front of it then I use my lamp for lighting it still has a few flaws but it works pretty well. I just animate for fun and I'm pretty proud that I came up with all that.

    Great tutorial. But I don´t see the point to use an app (even a free one) when you´re just taking pictures. All smartphones have a built in camera app which have all the options you need to customize your pictures. Am I missing something not using this Stop Motion Studio app? Is there any plus? Thanks.

    • @Animatortor
      @Animatortor  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much. You can totally animate without an app if you want to. The benefit of apps is that you can more easily flick between pictures and also use things like onions skinning to help line up layers. I learnt without any software... apps and smartphones didn't even exist when I was learning - do what works for you, there is no wrong or right way :)

    How do you add music or sound effects? Can you do it with the app? Thanks!

    • @Animatortor
      @Animatortor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, I think you can do it in-app if you pay for the premium version... it's 4.99 I believe and there is an SFX library etc. There's some info on that here: www.cateater.com/support/en/stopmotion/stopmotion-featurepack.html
      Alternatively you could export your movie and then use a free editing software and add sounds that way. Things like DaVinci Resolve are free to download. Hope that helps

    Are you able to take the photo without touching the phone in stop motion studio

    • @Animatortor
      @Animatortor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, if you have a pair of headphones you can plug in, pushing the volume up button will take a photo and mean you don't have to touch your phone. If your phone doesn't have the headphone jack the you can use the bluetooth function to pair it with an external shutter trigger... these are like mini remote controls. They are pretty cheap, you would need to buy that as an extra and probably can be found on Amazon. Hope that helps 🙂
