Hey, yeah! This was a song for a TV special on Kazakhstan's Independence day. It is true that Dimash is a beacon for the tradition in music melded into a new type of artistry for today.. Moreover, this music is not only a beautiful message of strength, pride, perseverance and hope within his homeland, but it also adds to the dynamics and musical tapestry of the world. There is indeed something different when Dimash sings songs like Daididau, Salmatau, Qairan Elim, and Qaragym-ai. You can feel it as he sings. Dimash's love for his country wicks out from his heart to flood his whole body. That love, patriotism, and passion, and pain deeply colors the timbre and richness of his voice. And when he sings this song, but also others like Salmaltau more specifically, the sound in his chest reverberates until your soul is vibrating along with him. Such a feeling as this has the power to bring you to tears. And it does.

Agree! It's great what Dimash is doing in bringing pride back to traditional music. I love that he's proud of his roots and demonstrating that our world is much richer if artists stop following a monoculture of music and sing more in their own traditions. Imagine the diversity of songs in different languages we could be listening to! Indeed the world would be richer. We have to stop monetizing everything so much that we forget the finer important things in life like appreciation of our diverse human cultures and the arts they create.. Mainstream western popularized music is a money driven manufactured culture. Dimash shows that taking ownership of your own music culture is sth artists can do to enrich our world, he restores cultural pride and re-balances the economy of music by showing that its doable bc no culture is superior to another. Dimssh has such love of his family, homeland and his countrymen. He gives every emotion when he sings he feels the songs, but his native songs add heart to the emotions. He always uses traditional instruments, the eagle is always featured and he is generally wearing gold which pays respect to the Golden Man a national treasure. The Golden Warrior Monument, also known as the Golden Man Statue or the Statue of the Golden Warrior, stands on Republic Square in the former capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty. The monument celebrates the independence of Kazakhstan, the identity of its people, and the role of the city of Almaty as capital of Kazakhstan until 1997 when the capital moved to Astana.

Fable, This song is not exactly new==I had heard it years ago, before I knew about Dimash---And I LOVE this song! Yes, I have noticed the joy with which he sings anything about his country. Yes, it is indeed a special sound. One just wants to goout and march for Kazakhstan. This has been my feeling every time he sings about his nation. It's there in "Kazakhstan Song," also. The exhuberance is infectious, but you know that you can't experience it for someone else's nation. And i haaveto admit I feel a little envy for his unbridled pride in his nation.
You can just imagine a group of Kazakh men sitting round a campfire with goblets of wine singing thus rousing song, together.
You said it well, he is different when it's songs about his country, his heritage, in his language, the instruments, it's very powerful and the change in him while singing these type of songs are a celebration of him for his country, his people and his proud patriotism for Kazakhstan. He is so mature in his thinking already from a young age, this was and is his lifelong dream and mission.

I believe this song is their national anthem. I can't believe you don't know what that 2 stringed instument is..it is a Dombra and Dimash features it in a lot of his songs. He has said that in his country kids learn to play this early on.. I think it is their national instrument.

Yes I love most of all his Kazakh songs and like you Samal Tau is my favourite. It was interesting to hear him say in his very recent interview for Kazakh tv that when he sings Samal Tau he has to prepare himself mentally as it is a hard song to sing, not technically but mentally because of the story behind it. He does feel everything to the full and he takes us with him.
