Having worked that branch when it had 2 tracks which reduced the risk of being held on the main line either way, wouldn’t it make ultimate sense during the present upgrade, to close this very neglected’ branch with its very acute curve and sand drag and use Mirfield Stn as a passenger stop and change ends. Obviously it would be a problem for chartered specials, but regular services.? Thanks Don great video memories flooding back. Barry
The problem with that Barry is they’d need a crossover and wrong direction signals. They have talked about twin tracking the junction at Bradley Wood which would ease things.
Enjoyed seeing this Don, as I never worked a train round that spur between Bradley Jn and Bradley Wood Jn. Another bit that's always intrigued me, that I never got to drive over is that spur between Greetland Jn and Dryclough Jn. I seem to remember hearing that it was a bank engine section back in the day, which wouldn't surprise me, given the climb from Milner Royd Jn towards Halifax. Does that bit of line still exist, and if so, have you any footage of it? Keep up the great vids!
(good lord, 'first'-commenter in all my time on YT?) thanks for the upload :) nice, just got to watching this one as always great info. (& presented with subtlety) - odd transition at 3m10s, i'd advise the entirety be kept/presented for posterity... single-line 'woods' section feels quiet & pretty in its own way - who knows, maybe it'll be doubled once more in the far future?
My type of videos ❤ great chanel mate😊
Much appreciated Darren.
