I am an elderly lady, widow, and just starting out learning to embroider, ribbon embroider and learning to sew from a pattern. I have an old singer sewing machine but do not know even how to thread it. I never learned to sew as a child or as an adult. You are my teacher. I was widowed 25 years ago as a young adult. I have learned something about grief. Grief is very painful so when in pain be very good to yourself, do what you love, and get plenty of rest. Grief will eventually lessen. I promise.

I had to thank you for bringing back the joy to my stitching. Like you I grew up sewing and reading a lot. For most of my childhood my mother and I made all of my clothes. I still remember my first pair of store-bought jeans. I think I was in eighth grade. I don't remember learning to sew or crochet. I do remember my Mom drawing pictures on bits of fabric and I would stitch them up with whatever colored threads I could find. I still have several of the bits in a box. When my mother passed away in 1995 I just didn't take pleasure in stitching any more. Watching you be so thrilled when you made your Hassif and that little stick closure that worked so well, brought me nearly to tears. So now I've started my own for my cousin, who turns 70 in a few days. I have enjoyed this project so much I had to thank you. I wish I could send you the photos. I'm having the best time and this brings back so many good memories for me. I didn't realize I'd missed doing this so much! You are a gift.

Good for you, Marion....we all have to find balance in life and it's not easy when that means cutting out things that we enjoy. When life gets too busy, we don't enjoy anything because we need rest and space in between the fun things. We will be here whenever you have time to create for us, and we appreciate all of it.

I really missed you on Wednesday as you're the highlight of my mid-week, but I understand the need to get on with "real life" & the decision to drop down to only one video a week. See you next Sunday. BTW....I won't see any snowdrops in my yard until April.
The snowdrops are really lovely. I only noticed today the linen has a beautiful weave as well. The coat is going to be really special. (Flowers around the cuffs as well, maybe?) I've travelled long distances to visit gardens with snowdrops but there are plenty nearer that give me just as much pleasure. I suspect they were brought back here as a result of the Crusades anytime after 1095. A Latin scholar would have known about 'the lilies of the fields - 'lilies' in KJB but some think they were crocus. Anyway, something Biblically inspired. Those of us that craft know there is never enough time, and that oodles of time is required to complete relatively small works. Inspired by you I finished far more unplanned projects than I have ever attempted before last year. I think its possible you were also spurred on by our interest in what you were doing. Thus, I think its only reasonable for you to get into the groove of progressing with your long standing projects. We are all keen to see these things yet we also need to be getting along with our own projects too. Dropping in once a week into Marion's World seems about right to me. Much ❤
I think K3n would say, "You do you!" I love seeing what you do, and I'm glad you're pacing yourself in a way that works for you. I want to tell you that the way I found you and K3n, was that I was so sick and tired of seeing promotions for "quick and easy" quilts and needle work. Something in my stomach & my brain kept saying, "I don't want to rush. I want to be slow & deliberate and try new things." So I literally typed "slow and laborious stitching" into the TH-cam search bar, and you & K3n popped up! So, that's just fine. The things you do are beautiful, but they take TIME and that's just the choice we make. There's lots of "quick and easy" out there, and you are unique for doing things that take time, but are well worth it. Take care Marion! Love you!

As a newbie to the channel, I could see you were being swamped with all the videoing up to Christmas. I whole heartedly agree with your decision. I on the other hand have been troddling on with your stitch journal of 2024 and enjoying it immensely. I finished the tree, decided to do the oak leaf in crewel on a separate cloth as my tree seemed to be so cluttered with all the different leaves and new stitching. I love it. I call it my fairy tree. I didn't close off the ends of the branches but left the ends flaring out in a bouquet of yarn ends, like a plume. Thank you so much for inspiring me to get into stitching. I love it. I also want to do the botanical of last year but one step at a time. Even though you may feel bad at leaving the videos to once a week, I am excited at all the previous videos I can go back and learn something new, which I also have been doing. So bless you for your gift of teaching and thinking outside the box. Your snowdrops are truly lovely. Truly enjoy your week.

Dear Marion, the snowdrops are so much more meaningful for having seen you crunching through the snow to show us them. Incredible, how you include every little detail of each bud or bloom. Due to your videos, I am appreciating the botanical names and history. The coat hemline will be sensational. I was worried about you when there was no mid-week video and hoped you weren't ill. Happily, you have just made a very sensible decision to concentrate on just the Sunday video. You do such a good job, can't imagine how you can possibly do so much, without sucking all the joy out of your week.

The snowdrops are really lovely. I only noticed today the linen has a beautiful weave as well. The coat is going to be really special. (Flowers around the cuffs as well, maybe?) I've travelled long distances to visit gardens with snowdrops but there are plenty nearer that give me just as much pleasure. I suspect they were brought back here as a result of the Crusades anytime after 1095. A Latin scholar would have known about 'the lilies of the fields - 'lilies' in KJB but some think they were crocus. Anyway, something Biblically inspired.
Those of us that craft know there is never enough time, and that oodles of time is required to complete relatively small works. Inspired by you I finished far more unplanned projects than I have ever attempted before last year. I think its possible you were also spurred on by our interest in what you were doing. Thus, I think its only reasonable for you to get into the groove of progressing with your long standing projects. We are all keen to see these things yet we also need to be getting along with our own projects too. Dropping in once a week into Marion's World seems about right to me. Much ❤

I think K3n would say, "You do you!" I love seeing what you do, and I'm glad you're pacing yourself in a way that works for you. I want to tell you that the way I found you and K3n, was that I was so sick and tired of seeing promotions for "quick and easy" quilts and needle work. Something in my stomach & my brain kept saying, "I don't want to rush. I want to be slow & deliberate and try new things." So I literally typed "slow and laborious stitching" into the TH-cam search bar, and you & K3n popped up! So, that's just fine. The things you do are beautiful, but they take TIME and that's just the choice we make. There's lots of "quick and easy" out there, and you are unique for doing things that take time, but are well worth it. Take care Marion! Love you!

Thank you for this inspiration of stitching snowdrops - I am smiling, for me snowdrops are spring flowers - six feet of snow at this time of year leaves a very barren landscape in northern Ontario.
As a newbie to the channel, I could see you were being swamped with all the videoing up to Christmas. I whole heartedly agree with your decision. I on the other hand have been troddling on with your stitch journal of 2024 and enjoying it immensely. I finished the tree, decided to do the oak leaf in crewel on a separate cloth as my tree seemed to be so cluttered with all the different leaves and new stitching. I love it. I call it my fairy tree. I didn't close off the ends of the branches but left the ends flaring out in a bouquet of yarn ends, like a plume. Thank you so much for inspiring me to get into stitching. I love it. I also want to do the botanical of last year but one step at a time. Even though you may feel bad at leaving the videos to once a week, I am excited at all the previous videos I can go back and learn something new, which I also have been doing. So bless you for your gift of teaching and thinking outside the box. Your snowdrops are truly lovely. Truly enjoy your week.
