I'm a mechanic. I did an MOT on a Dr's friend's car, and he came to pick it up. He came in his one of these, and when we went to drop it off to his house, he let me drive his, and fuuuuck. What a car. It was pretty quick (220d 7G Paddle shift), it Was pretty damn comfortable, nice to drive, cheap to insure and £20 a year to tax.. I think they're an awesome car. A nice way to get into the Merc saloons for not that much money. The A class is a bit nicer and more practical for a daily driver (unless you get the Estate CLA). If I had the money, I'd get the estate.

These AMG Line cars do not come with AMG badges on from the factory so why do people stick them on, it doesn’t matter how many badges you stick on it isn’t an AMG!
E63 AMG Honestly I didn’t know that, I wondered why my CLA didn’t have the AMG badge at the back, even though mine is AMG line. So where do people buy them from? Is it Mercedes that sell them?

for a few days ago when i was walking home from school a saw a old mercedes B-class with a single exhaust and a damn amg badge. that was a sad day for me but i still had a laugh
The irony of all the anti AMG badge comments is AMG originally started off as an aftermarket styling company for Mercedes as much as a tuner. In fact there were very few people who could afford AMG tuning in the 80's or 90's it was eye wateringly expensive, so what most customers bought was bodykit, wheels and suspension mods. This is likely before most of the readership was born.
The cost of a widebody 560SEC 6.0 DOHC in the late 80's early 90's translates today to the cost of a new Bugatti.
AMG is a brand now owned by Mercedes, it shifts units. In the same way Gucci, LV, Supreme etc shifts otherwise nondescript products due to brand awareness with a label on it.
Mercedes is now a finance company, it builds cars to enable it to sell financial products to it's customers. The cars themselves make them nothing if you buy through carwow or similar, they only make money on the PCP deal. Then at three years, you hand it back and start again.
Is it working? Of course it is, have you ever seen so many low to middle income people able to afford a Mercedes? They are now cheaper to lease/hire than a Ford Mondeo.
It actually started off as a tuner far from a "styling company" it focused on racing in the beginning. The Red Pig being the most notable example of this.
My A200 premium AMG Line has the bigger brakes and callipers as standard. I'm a disabled driver and i had to take it to the guys who fitted the hand controls to get them adjusted and one guy said to me what engine is in that when i said 1.33 turbo he didnt believe me at first he said the size of them brake disks an callipers i thought it was a real AMG lol.
It's the same old crap b road bashing . What car should I buy ... when he isn't going to buy any of them .

Are they correct specs? That’s shit. I have a Mercedes C250 diesel that does 0-60 in like 6 seconds and gives me over 50mpg on the way to work, how is this one in the video so much worse?

My brother actually got one of these before the new year as a company car 😂 his one is the CLA200 1.8 turbo petrol amg line in white with the black wheels. He loves the damn thing, suppose that until I try it for myself, I’ll just stick to preferring my Renault trafic works van 😂

I bought my first C class coupe last year, 2018, C220D, AMG line, night pack, premium plus.
It's not fast, it's just a decent cruiser. What more do you want than heated seats, decent sound system, auto and rear wheel drive when going to and from work?
Let's be honest, when stuck in traffic what is the point in 300/400+bhp? You can't use it and I don't even live in a city.
That said I'm gonna get a C43 AMG estate next year 😂
TheAftermath1987 I have 354 Bhp plenty of opportunity to utilise it on a daily basis but that’s cause where I live is so quiet .
TheAftermath1987 daily driver has 350 bhp and 700nm torque. I use it all many times daily 😀😀
I prefer cla 200d amgline for my age early 30s than E220 or A180 or S class

And they keep pumping them out. The old 350 trim level is now a "AMG43" and the old 550 trim is now "AMG53". And the people that buy them have no clue.....sad.

David mcgloan Standard model can't get nowhere near a amg line. Much more nippy in corners. Has wider arches for wider tire width better suspension better shocks less rollover and better steering like a Mercedes should have. Standard models don't have the Mercedes ride quality

My friend has a cla and his insurance is only 104 per month and he's only 20
The car is a nice shape , but would not get it with a diesel engine has to be the petrol if i had one of these no point otherwise

Hate the term: “easy to drive” find any salon, hatch, etc with an auto box and tell me it’s not easy to drive, you put your foot on a pedal and it moves and they all have light electric steering, everything is easy to drive 😭

I mean mercedes is known for being luxury and style based… most people buy the car for its appearance not its performance. People who drive CLA do not care about speed if you want speed go c63 or E63.

Basically 99% people arnt 'car' people so to them a a180d Amg line is no diffrent to a45 . They just assume they have the 'best' model not knowing it's a spec. On the other hand some people want to look like to non car people that they have the best model with out working hard or paying the premium for the proper amg
I find it brand damaging as people who spend 60k plus on a real AMG, would be confused with the people that cant afford an AMG. personally, I don't like it, only if your a car guy you would know. (Note im taking about E AMG, C AMG and all AMG products Not just The CLA)

I've just sold m4 and got a megane RS so its nothing to do with 'just liking BMW'S ' but I think its poor design when a 500 bhp 3.0 L 6 cylinder is more fuel efficient than a 2.0 L 4 banger. It is poor design and the a class build quality is pants. Maybe the new a class is better.
So it's the same concept as Ford's ST Line, VW R Line, Peugeot's GT Line, Renault's RS Line, BMW's M Line and so on? What the fuck is so exciting about a fake performance car?

This isn’t even an AMG-line ... it’s modified with AMG bumpers and difuser... i drive an AMG line and no it does not come stock with AMG badges and the red vents this is all aftermarket ....
