    Young man runs 44.6, and these announcers barely raise a eyebrow..unbelievable time for a sophomore in college.

      After this performance there's no one who will doubt the world record. It's the same as Erriyon Knightons WU20R in the 200m, not ratified but generally accepted

      They don’t want to send him that check for the WR. It’s all political. If it was a professional runner who was signed to an agency I’ll bet things would have been different. (This is speculation) but I agree with you tbh is makes no sense

    Every race is different in the sport. And indoor 400m running is very dependent on the unfolding tactics The other runners in the race knew what they were up against, and tried to derail Christopher by forcing him to go out harder in that first 200 than he would have wished. That plan worked and definitely took some of his sting off for the second 200m. 20.99 is probably the fastest first 200m of an indoor400m ever. I can't wait to see what he runs outdoor where we get to see his strength over the last 200m really coming into play. I can only magine what this guy will run in the 100m segment between 250m and 350m, It should be something truly jaw dropping. It should be close to 11 flat. I imagine 27 flat or slightly under for the first 250m, then 11 flat for the next 100. If he hits the 250 at 26 mid to low, it will be too fast, I imagine 38 flat or slightly under at 350m gives him 43 very high to 44 flat for a 400 time.

      Sometimes its best to keep what he’s used to and incrementally make small improvements. Big ones would likely confuse his body and result in slower times and injury

    • @dennisrobinson8008

      Us real track fans know what you are saying. You leave well enough alone. If there is a small adjustment it has to be within Christophers desire to make the adjustment and it has to make a difference, make him feel stronger, more in control or something like that. The man set a world record running exactly how he was running. @@donovan_99_

    So when does he go pro? At the end of the semester? Or now? Or does he wait until after the Olympics? He's marketable, well-spoken, has a good story, and is only going to get faster.

    • @Thermolizer

      He probably will win the NCAA outdoors this year then go Paris and try to medal/win. That would give him the best chances of landing a big pro contract.

    • @krbcan1569

      @@Thermolizer That's certainly a possibility. But if he turns pro now, he doesn't have to worry about risks associated with over-racing at college. Look what happened to Britton Wilson last year. He already has a busy summer already coming up with the World Relays and the Canadian Olympic trials.

    • @michaeldeierhoi4096

      I haven't heard of any runner abruptly going pro mid way through the track season. It would be an impulsive and rash move imo. He has only two really fast times under 45:00, 44:48 at the SEC Conference meet and this 44:46. That isn't enough to to go pro on. He needs to now continue to run good times outdoors when it really counts.
      There is no reason to rush things anyway!!

    • @krbcan1569

      @@michaeldeierhoi4096 Your post is certainly valid, but how many runners have there been that have set a world record during the middle of the school year during an Olympic year? It's sort of unknown territory.
      There are also examples of high schoolers turning pro (Ajee Wilson and Vashti Cunningham amongst others) so if you get approached by an agent (and it's certainly a possibility he has been already approached), it would be a consideration to at least weigh the pro's and con's.

    Can someone tell me, when they say “world record”, is that the fastest time recorded that year to date? It doesn’t mean the fastest time ever recorded, right? Or are times just constantly being broken in T&F? Thx!!

    • @kennethwoods6525

      The video is referring to all-time indoor 400 meter times (includes professionals). Christopher previously ran the indoor 400 meters faster than anyone in history - but it could not be ratified by World Athletics because there were no sensors on the starting blocks. Christopher's time in this video was second best (this year) only to his previous time. Michael Norman ran 44.52 in 2018.

    • @jacobdoyle420

      Above comment is correct. Year to date is called World Lead. Indoor 400m is more competitively run in the college scene than in the pro scene. Still an astounding time for a 19 year old indoors.
