I think we're also not taking into account is that he is racing himself and no competition to push him harder. He could have probably dropped the time down even further with the right person pushing him.
I practice with the 7th placer in this event, Max D'angelo. 12th grade, been working the last 6 years of his life pretty much every day. And it shows. He is so unbelievabe-ly fast. And this SOPHOMORE runs nearly 3 SECONDS FASTER. This is insane, remember this name.
Was there today spectating a teammate, watching this race was absolutely insane. Hearing that he was the first from the announcers to do under 46 was crazy enough, but to hear that he was a sophomore made me lose it. Watching my teammate get all-american was already great, and watching this was the icing on the cake. Absolutely crazy meet
This kid is amazing. He's got that body type like Wade Van Niekirk, Britton Wilson and now that Canadian guy, Morales Williams. Light and springy, they just float around the track. Hope Quincy can keep it going and not push to hard too soon. This is next level of the next level talent.
Bullis overall is absolutely insane. I moved to Maryland recently and all I’ve heard about is either James Paltrow or Bullis HS. Their girls 4x2 won the national championship as well
Let just pray for him & hope that he doesnt burn out by the time he reaches his top form in later years to come. This is where coaching comes in. I wish him the best. Go Q!
I seriously hope that this kid gets the coaching that his talent deserves. He could be the next biggest thing in Athletics he has to stay grounded and get the best coaching he can get.
I first saw Quincy compete at the Penn Relays against Jamaican athletes a little bit older than him. Though he didn’t win, he ran with his heart out. I knew then he was going to be something special.
Man just ran a 44.2 just 4 months later. His growth is exponential! He’s going to do amazing at the Olympic relay this year. Definitely a top contender to break the all time 400m record in his later years.
I wish Quincy well. Those are crazy stats. Will be interesting to see how many of the top U18 athletes on the list continue on to become world beaters and continue to progress over time.
@@tortareka just something to be excited about I guess. Lots of high schoolers who caused a stir and never went on to do much. But if you crunch some numbers.. sliced 0.16s off a 20 Yr record. If he improves 0.3s every 2 years?? Peak for track is 23-28 yrs old??
@@TawazUK You seriously believe he can improve 0.3 every 2 years? Once you get to low 44, athletes would be delighted with any improvement at all. There's a reason there's only slightly over 20 who have gone sub 44. I'm not saying this guy ain't got potential but then again so did Justin Robinson, Christopher Taylor, Thebe, Haroun, Obea Moore and many, many others. They all are retired, inactive, hit a rut or at the least haven't been dropping 0.3 every two years.
Bright future and I hope he keeps excelling 👏👏🤞🤞. My only concern is his mechanics. I really hope his corner helps him clean it up. Reminds me of Boiling(Talented, Raw Speed, could clean up mechanics for efficiency).
I wish this kid the very best and hope he does well in the future.. Jamaican, Christopher Taylor ran 45.27 over 400m at the 2015 world junior championship when he was only 15 years old!!.. Today he's just an average runner at the senior level. It's important to note that the guy whose record Wilson broke, Elzie Coleman did 45.92 in 2004 when he was 18 years old. That is still his best time to date. Sometimes kid athletes get burned out working too hard so early in their career and can't carry over at the next level
He’s one of my favorite track athletes in high school. Hopefully he can keep this pace. Usually when they peak this early so young, they don’t get to much more faster as they get older.
This kid and Morales from UGA is something to look forward to down the road. It's hard to believe that a 16 yr old sophomore could run that kind of time.
Nah Quincy is just crazy. There are 200m sprinters and 400m sprinters. He’s one of the rare type of sprinters that have just enough endurance to run crazy fast for just a bit longer. Like Wayde van Niekerk who had the 300m world record until just a bit ago. Just wait with this kid fr.

they fall off for peaking to young. young and fast isnt necessarily a good thing. 1) the human body can only run so fast and 2) running fast young its difficult to maintain that top speed for years to come. Just think by 26 he would already be running 45s or sub 45's for 10 years that is extremely long in track and field
i attended new balance nationals in the same grade he is in sadly i got hurt in the 60m semis but i was there i seen it it was crazy his speed endurance is top tier almost like proffesional athletes
Phenomenal performance! The real question is whether he will have longevity. I hope so. It’s worth noting that the previous record holder was not a household name suggesting that he had his best years at an early age. I really hope this young man continues to improve because I love to watch the 400m and he appears on his way to being another great 400m runner in the long history of great American quarter milers. (Just looked up his record predecessor. Apparently, he was derailed by off track legal issues. What a shame!)
He’s got a 1:17 600m under his belt according to his World Athletics profile. Would love to see him go out a little slower and see what he could do over 800m. But, when you’re 45.7 indoors at 16, I can see the argument to focus on the 400. 😁
Yes definitely I didn’t mean to imply he should not do 400s But it’s just my opinion his best event in the future will be the 800’with his speed endurance
Too fast too young doesn’t always work out very well. Adults get too psyched and push these youngsters too hard, too soon. The youngsters wind up with physical and mental burnout plus injuries. Hope the adults don’t rush him. His important races and his career only just begin years down the road.
Impressive! If he grows and keeps this form, watch out. Butch Reynolds is 6’3 and Michael Johnson 6’1. Crazy that he can cover these distances so fast, so young, and not having the benefit of long strides from height.
That's great it's unbelievable but don't forget Nicholas Harbor did something amazing too in the 200 when he was in high school a junior or a sophomore I can't remember which but has never run faster
Probably very, very few people would remember the great Lee Evans. Quincy's running style is very similar to the 16 year old Lee Evan's. I know because I was on the same track team with Lee during his sophomore year. Quincy is about the same size as Lee was as 16 years of age. Lee would go on to reach 5'11" in height, break all the records, win 2 Olympic gold medals, and hold the world record for 20 years. You won't have to wait long for this young man to do the same!

I think we're also not taking into account is that he is racing himself and no competition to push him harder. He could have probably dropped the time down even further with the right person pushing him.
True but he dont need that. Especially in indoor. When someone in ur way, ur slower. The track was all his in that race.
