Smashing repair, saved from landfill for another day lol. Wow that's sensor crack mania, never seen it that bad ever!. I've never damaged a mode switch contacts, just a tiny lift to restore the contact pressure. I'm no lover of the single board vcr, but most seem to do the job fine 😀
Thank You for a very descriptive repair video. Helps me to understand how to remove the tape mechanism from the board. I cannot find a Single VCR or even a DVD repair technician in Singapore. Hooe to see more of Sharp VCRs repair video from you. 🙏👍
Ouch, that shipping is gonna sting! I'm now 40 & just started using a magnifier in the last year or so, keep kidding myself it's just PCB traces getting finer but we all know that's not true lol. Makes things so much easier when we accept our limitations. I guess you have a good 15-20 years on me, being in the business since I was in nappies so you're not doing badly at all with the eyes. Long may it continue too, always a pleasure to see a master at work.
A cheap and cheerful Sanyo. I had a small Sanyo VHS Hi-Fi VCR like this one from circa 1993 that I used constantly until it finally died in around 2005. Paid around $250 for it I think, a bargain at the time. Definitely got my money's worth. Replaced it with a Panasonic VHS/DVD recorder that I still have.
Another video closer to me sending my VO2800 U-matic to you. Though I probably will run and hide at the cost of shipping from Chicago up to you. Got a similar issue with it, though I’m not entirely sure if the umatic machines have a different loading process other than the u shape load
I'm 59 and I've had to start wearing readers for very small print and close-up work. My distance vision has always been very good, and never had to wear glasses before and never been near sighted.
I started wearing glasses at about 13 and contacts from 16 on to 47 when i bit the bullet and had LASIK. I never knew how sore my eyes were wearing contacts so long but man it was nice to not have to wear them anymore. Have friends that could benefit from procedure but they are too nervous to get it done. So they have to deal with glasses fogging up and getting wet in the rain or deal with the dry contacts issue when in air conditioned environments.
spotted that the middle LED solder was over flowed, and both contacts joined.. I need glasses for distance, but can see clear enough when working on PCBs & decks. Great video as always though:)
overflowed? joined together? no mate, it was a dry solder joint, if it was joined together then that would be shorting it out.. and that wouldn't be good
Cheaters are what i use at work for fiber splicing. They are very small with no frame, very light weight and sit on nose. Designed to be like bifocals for folks that don't need bifocal. Look down and see through the lens look up and see over them. I should buy myself a second pair for the work bench as they are better then these dollar store specials. I have a very expensive frame from my glasses wearing days that I had some prescription readers made for +1 and +1.5 which are supposed to be even better then these cheap ones but i really don't see a difference. I try not to use them. I prefer to exercise my eyes by forcing myself to see close up for all but where i really need them. Keep the lens in the eye as flexible as possible. Those I know that started using readers younger needed to kept getting stronger lenses as their eyes got lazy. So i will look at my phone then at the tv then the phone and so on. Keep changing focus distance is a big help to keeping the peepers working at their best.
Hey, I have a new old stock Radio Shack dual tape deck I think would be a good video for you to make, I'd like to send in to you to get a check-over. My grandpa died 2 years ago and he was an electronics hoarder and among the stuff I ended up getting was this tape deck from 2002(?) still unused in the packaging and even with the original receipt taped to it. Its in pristine condition cosmetically but because of how long it sat I'd like to make sure the belts are all good and there's no bad solder spots. Hey I'm having 2 problems with my sony str de997 receiver.. issue number 1- whenever i use the Multi Channel In 1 function, using any of the RCA inputs creates a buzzing and hum noise in the speakers. Now jiggling the RCA plugs a bit seems to have an influence on the buzzing and hum... But here's the weird part, whenever i use the same cables on the Multi Channel In 2, the buzzing and humming is gone. Another thing is that using a regular input like for example the SA-CD/CD input removes the humming and buzzing from all channels. So clearly there's something wrong with the Multi Channel In 1. I actually have an identical motherboard that i use for parts from it. The reason i don't use the duplicate one is that there's alot more issues with that one. Issue number 2- the front A/B Speaker selectors aren't working. Usually when operating the speaker select button, i hear the relay clicks for A/B and the Rest toggle on and off. Now i only hear clicks for speakers A and the rest. Whenever Speakers B is selected and deselected, there are no relay clicks. Also, there is no audio from any of the front A/B speakers. Hopefully you can help me identify the part i need to replace. Thanks in advance and i really appreciate it
Is there a reason that you're messing with all the electronics while the unit is seemingly powered up/connected to mains? Is it low enough voltage? Not a criticism, just genuinely curious about thought process / if I'm missing something.

It's is pretty cool what they can fix now with the laser. I had astigmatism too, that was also corrected. I have forgotten what it is like to wear glasses or contacts as unless I am working on something up real close I don't wear any.
There used to be a test card that you would expose to bright light to charge them up then they would glow in a specific ultra violet range. You held this test card up to the infrared device under test and if it was emitting light it would show up as a pail orange to green glow on the test card depending on the IR wavelength but i havent seen these since the early 80s when IR remotes first became available. You can also use a black and white ccd or cmos camera as they can see IR, or you can take a regular color camera and physically remove the IR cut filter which is precisely what the nightshot mode does on video cameras. No you can't just use your phone. Some excessively bright LEDs such as remote controls might have enough near visible harmonic radiation emitted to break through the IR cut filter but low output devices such as rotation sensors or tape sensors will not have enough secondary emission to see anything without eliminating that cut filter.
It's actually pretty simple. The audio is recorded at a much different angle on the tape. The video heads are +7 and -7 degrees from perpendicular to the tape. The audio hi-fi is -30 and plus 30 from being perpendicular. This means that there is a 37° spread between the video and audio heads. The audio is laid down had a very high record current on to the tape and then the video records over top of the audio that has been laid down into this deep layer on the tape. The video signal does erase part of the audio signal as it's being recorded over top but because the very different angles that the heads are facing the tape there's enough of the audio signal left in the deep layer of the tape that it can be played back because the steep angle rejects the video signal interfering with the audio and vice versa. This is how VHS Hi-Fi work. Beta hi-fi and 8mm hi8 work totally different. On beta and 8 mm there is much more bandwidth available so the audio is just placed in between the chroma and the luminous signal. There's enough of a space between the two signals for the audio carriers which are frequency modulated like the luminance carrier is. Beta for the pal system had to adopt the same recording method that VHS used because due to the Head drum spitting slower there wasn't enough bandwidth to insert the audio carriers between the chroma and luminance.
Sir i ask you a favor ..if you have a schematic diagram of pioneer amplifier model A405...my problem is the two resistor near filter capacitor is burn out and i have no idea what resistor ohms i replace cause of no color coding cause of burn out..the part no.in printed circuit is Resistor 565 and resistor 566..i hope that you can help me sir.from your subscriber in the Philippines thanks in advance sir.

Yes he can make a claim for refund after it is exported back to USA. I check the box goods returned to USA when i ship back. Prior to pandemic i actually took a piece of equipment to the states to mail back and made the claim. Got back all but 10.00 but had to pay 10.00 to take across the line to mail. So it cost 20 and I got 40 back. Took about 3 months to get refund. Tried it a second time and got a letter denying the claim. So I don't do that now for anyone. They can do it on their end.
@@12voltvids Yes, its a hassle anyone could do without. A simple refund request like most paperwork we have to undertake on the Web, rob's a ridiculous amount of time from us all. As a 5 minute task spiral's into 1 hour task.

Its relatively low voltage and even the mains connected part is on an isolation transformer so I would have to try real hard to shock myself.

Hi. I looked up the schematic for this amp and I couldn't find R565 and 566. Are you sure these are the correct numbers?
