For me I put Hird just a nose of Gary Ablett Snr & Wayne Carey these 3 players are the best 3 men play the game, and I rate Hirdy slightly in front of Cyril Rioli &Dustin Martin and probably equal with Michael Voss,I still get shivers and emotional goose bumps watching the class of James Hird playing this game called Australian Rules Football.THANKU VERY MUCH as the king Elvis would say
Hird had the gift for naturally giving himself space. Neil Daniher was another. I was at the game in 1980 when he was thrown into the forward line in the last 15 minutes of the final quarter and literally stole a win over Carlton. When the siren went, there wasn't a sound as supporters from both sides were shocked in disbelief. Standing 6'3', he could have been anything. His career was cut short, and then his life. Some people just can't cut a break.
@@dw29392 100% he would move in slow motion it looked like. No one to replace lloyd since he retired and certainly no one to replace Hirdy are we screwed? Lol.
It can be quite hard to add the 1%s into highlights packages sometimes because they can happen so fast the coverage doesn't capture them properly, or the commentators don't do them justice. But Hirdy had so many of them he gave me plenty of great ones to choose from!
Ah well spotted! Don't worry I definitely haven't run out of matches but now footy is coming back my uploads are going to based on the new 2020 fixture rather than the old one. So hopefully tomorrow the first part of the new fixture will be announced and I'll be able to work out which upload is coming next. Stay tuned!!!
A genius on the field . A scapegoat off it . He deserved better
Couldn't agree with you more!!!
You just shake your head at how easy he made some freakish plays look.
Everything looked easy for him, even the most outrageous plays!

@15:56 hird touches the ball 7 times. 7 bloody times. Second effort after second effort and then kicks a goal. Sensational.
The GOAT
Couldn't agree more!!!
The Master at Work
He really was a genius!
"Genius" doesn't seem an adequate enough word to describe James Hird.
Agreed!

So many times he made his opponents look like idiots, but they weren't, he just made it look easy to find space and keep his feet.
No one else had as much time to do things on a football field as he seemed to!

An Absolute Magician, Thanks for all of the memories James.
oozes class. makes it look so bloody easy. Legend!
He certainly did!
Thank you for this awesome video as a Essendon member all I got too say is James Hird you are a Champion ❤🖤❤🖤
You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed watching this superstar player!!!
You could do a dozen of these Hird compilations and still have stuff left over.
The two Shepard's from Pevrill at around five minutes mark was special.
I like how it's not just goals. I love the 1%'s more than the goals

Absolute legend
thanks for this mate :)
My pleasure!
Legend 👑
He certainly is!!!
Time slowed down when Hirdy got the ball
No one seemed to have as much time to do things on the field as that man!
Noticed you haven't yet uploaded a highlights package from a past match against Richmond. Did you run out of matches or what?

None of that soccer style theatrics with Hird.No wonder he is exalted so at Essendon.
