- He is a Brownlow medallist, a Norm Smith medallist, a five-time Crichton medallist, a five-time All Australian, a dual premiership player, an Essendon and AFL Hall of Fame member, and a legend of the game. He is amazing. He is a genius. He is James Hird.
Here is exactly what TH-cam has been crying out for; a James Hird highlights package without any of that godawful music people always put on these sorts of videos. I hate it when people do that. This just has the commentary, the way it should be.

Watching mid-way through the 2018 season..
As these highlights demonstrate, James Hird is simply one of the greatest footballers to have played our game. As impressive as his career statistics & honour roll reads, it’s not so much ‘what’ he did on the footy field, rather ‘how’ & ‘when’ he did it that set him apart.. Some of his contemporaries may have been more technically skilled, but few players (of any era) have had the ability to read the game so intuitively, while also having such a profound influence on it’s end result.. It’s fair to say, it may be some time before we see the likes of James Hird pass by this way again...
I’m honoured to have witnessed his time at Essendon, and will cherish the memories.

His second and third efforts just brilliant his ability to read the play and know where to be second to none. can't say enough about his courage and passion for this game and for his beloved bombers.

funny how watching this Hird wasn't as graceful and skilful as I remember, most of these highlights come from his desperation and second efforts. He was such a competitor.

I could easily watch him for 6 hours. Even now, when I watch his highlights, I'm still in total awe of him. He really was the best player I've seen in my lifetime.
I met him 6 years ago and had my photo taken with him. He was just lovely. :)
I firmly believe the Dons will win a Premiership under him.

Do you have many whole games on digital media? There are a few Dons games I am hoping to track down... top of the list is the Dons vs NM 2001 round 16 comeback, and the other being the WCE game where Jim hugs a spectator... 2004 round 2 or 3 (?)

Essendon have clearly been the most dominant in history and even fairly recently, such as in the 90s and early 00s
They have the best 16 premierships, equal with carlton, and they have had some of the est players in history.
