    The funny thing is, out of all the Super Password episodes I have witnessed, I never saw any of Jim's run! Seriously, until now! Thanks for posting!

    In reply to the person who never saw him in an episode, Jim was the contestant with Rip Taylor in the "Testimony" game where Rip ripped off his toupee.

    A one-word guess. Amazing, that I used to watch Super Password on NBC. I wish they would bring back Password.

      It was already did back around 2008 just for a couple of seasons with the late host Regis P.

      NBC did bring back Password in 2022 with Keke Palmer as host and Jimmy Fallon as one of the two panelists.

    If the British version of Password was played like this in the '90s, I would think that all the amounts would be 20% of ours but in pounds, therefore, puzzle 1 would be worth £20, puzzle 2 would be worth £40, puzzle 3 would be worth £60, and puzzle 4 would be worth £80.

    @zachhoran Did he play in the Tournament? I haven't seen any clips from the tournament except for the winner at the end.

    I wish game shows were more prevalent now. $64900? Most game shows in the 80s only had a $25000 limit.

      NBC never had a winnings limit post-scandal, choosing to institute game/match limits instead.

    • @seanvogt221
      @seanvogt221 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was CBS that imposed winnings limit starting at $25k then raised to $50k by 1985 then $100k by 1990. Now there are no limits. Which is why The Price Is Right now has things like Big Money Week with one contestant winning $200k on Plinko.

      @@SamHodkin23 Even though NBC doesn’t do daytime game shows anymore, their prime time game shows are still rolling out big dough such as The Wall and Deal Or No Deal.

    Jim Bontempo was the biggest non-TofC winner in Super Password history, having won $76K, and 11 years later winning a Lexus on Bergeron HS.

    There were no Tournaments of Champions after 1985, but I'm sure Jim would have won it (and every bonus round in that TOC) if there were.
    Nevertheless, the 1985 ToC winner was nowhere near as good as Jim, the BEST Password player ever.

    (cont.)
    The Cashword would be played after round 2, and would be a jackpot which would start at £200 and increase by that much until it is won. The first player to reach £100 would win the game and the chance to play the bonus round which would be the exact same as this. Each correct word would be worth £20 and all ten in 60 seconds would win the jackpot which would start at £1,000 and increase by that much until it is won.
