After watching 30 OAHS vids... that is the best by far! this "elevate the shoulders" was a frickin lifehack, finally it worked out, that was the most important tip. I am doing handstand since 10 years but that tip made one arm handstand possible:)

Thanks for this great video. I'm at the stage of 1-min HS and training my first shapes. I noticed that other people suggest starting with the more difficult full OAHS instead of straddle, but I guess it's ok depending on each individual. Let's see how long I take on this journey! :)
My straddle was always a small one because i was always trying to just get my legs to the side, i thought it was a flexibility problem, thank to your tip i was able to do a much wider straddle, really help Thank!!!
These tips help a lot. Especially rushing it is so tempting. However, number 2 is biomechanically wrong. It does not make any sense unless you have his strength. The full straddle position is easier to balance only if you have enough flexibility to remain straight line while being upside down. If feels so easy for him because.. well look at him - He is a fucking "berg". 😅 That can easily trick your perception then. I have read a lot of studies that claim strength compensates way better that technique. Thus, doing number as suggested would mean for somebody who is good at balancing that he has to hold somewhat like a straddle press to handstand position for the entire OA try. I would definitely not recommend that. All the other tips are pure gold! 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing your thoughts🙏 let's agree to disagree on number 2. I think you are missing the point. Having a small pike due to the pelvis tilt is not going to make it considerably harder in terms of strength unless you lack shoulder mobility. The whole reason you want to do this is in order to be able to open your shoulders so your shoulders, elbow and wrist are stacked, and the slight pike is only getting your center of gravity on top of this stack. I do agree that a lot of practice is needed to be comfortable in this position (which i mentioned). This will however, require 1/10th of the time compared to that of going straight for the small straddle or straight legs version. This is at least based on experience for myself and observations of students that I have worked with as well as following a huge amount of people investing their time in learning this awesome skill.
Most useful video on the one arm HS ive come across yet. Ive been working on it for a 2,3 years now and can hold a one arm 10s max but not consistently. I train that skill à lot but i am wondering if i built more muscle, could i not make more progress. The thing is i dont know what exercices i Can do (strength training) that could specifically help for the one arm HS. Does anybody know about such exercices ? I believe that "sucking in" stomach is a misconception. Some people use it to describe how it looks when your joints are stacked, but I generally experienced that this different from different anamotmies. You should never strive to actually suck in your stomach. When joints are properly stacked you should rather have the sensation of actually being able to relax your abdomen and breathe with ease. Most important when it comes to the OAHS is that you get your hip stacked over your shoulders and elevate your shoulder in order to create stability from there. Weight should be all over your hand and you should eventually get the sensation of tilting your palm, squeezing your fingers and rotating your elbow in order to compensate. In short, your should never feel that your hand is static and your weight at one particular spot. I hope this clarified your question somewhat, but it is extremely difficult you describe in words. And there are so many things to be said about the OAHS😅
i was doubting my self and my training because it been about 6 month since i started training for it(yes there is progress but not much) but when you said it may take more than a year i felt relief and happiness for a moment 😌😁 small question : is it okay to train for it everyday like regular handstand or take rest in between
I am 4 years in the Handstand Journey... But allot of it's been other calisthenics like the Human Flag , Front/Back lever , Planche , Pistol and Nortic curl. I'm on the press Handstand now. I can press HS but it's not super clean yet. I really want the one arm HS but I know I'm not ready yet. I'm 44 and worried I'll run out of time. But every time I try to advance my Wrist or shoulder gets somewhat injured. So I know I'm not ready. So I'm just focusing on the Press Handstand , VSit and planche. I’m glad you liked the video :) Yeah, there is literally a world between 😅 It’s all about getting full control over you handstand. Doing shapes, leg movements, learning to control pelvis, spine and all the other joints while doing handstands. It also helps a great deal you be able to properly stack joints on top of each other. Attaining strength, both shoulder, core (spinal control related strength) and wrist can also help a great deal in order to “cheat” your first few seconds (not really cheating, but you want to obtain an efficient position eventually which might come faster if you’re able to get some muscle help at the beginning).

Ive been doing calisthenics for 4 years, i progressed the most in handstand doing 6-8 sets before every workout, it may fatigue your shoulders at first, but you get used to it. Just be careful not to overtrain it or getting injured.

One question, in terms of difficulty/time consuming, how would you compare the OAH with the full planche? at my current level in calisthenics i could start practicing either one of those. but i feel the planche would take me longer because of how tall/heavy i am (6'23 / 85kg). Hard to say, but it is definitely two entirely different beasts! At your weight I'd say they're both as time consuming. Years of practice for both of them. But You can learn both, That's what I am going for, but I am a bit generalistic in my movement, so I tend to spend more time because I am working on so many things. That's how I like it anyways :)
I only did banana handstand walks 8 months ago and I realised that I can't hold. I try to practice everyday and I learned free 10 seconds handstand in 2 months and I learned one arm handstand in 7 months. I can lift my hand from ground and hold. I can't move my shoulder ( can't rise my hand, cuz I have to train a lot😂). Don't lose your hope. Consistency is the key. Some people can learn in a few months but some can learn about 3-4 years. Anyways, it means everyone can learn yeah?✌️😂

I think go for it! When done properly, OAHS is not training shoulders at all. It is mostly the trapezoid who takes the hit if you push out and elevate your shoulders properly. And thanks for commenting brother! Good luck on your plancge amd OAHS. I'll be posting a planche tutorial shortly as well

No it's not supposed to, but it's the most common problem in OAHS. You practicenit best by realizing it, and being aware of it and then practice super hard for a cery long time to avoid it😆 focusing on pushing out your shoulders also help as well as learning to control your hips. tightening hip flexirs and quads may also help to create more awareness

How much time should I spend on one arm handstand? Like 3 Times a week or? Every day before my workout?

I would say oa Hs would be easier for most people

I think go for it! When done properly, OAHS is not training shoulders at all. It is mostly the trapezoid who takes the hit if you push out and elevate your shoulders properly. And thanks for commenting brother! Good luck on your plancge amd OAHS. I'll be posting a planche tutorial shortly as well

Question, my hip turns when I use one hand. Is it supposed to be like that? And if not how can I fix it?
No it's not supposed to, but it's the most common problem in OAHS. You practicenit best by realizing it, and being aware of it and then practice super hard for a cery long time to avoid it😆 focusing on pushing out your shoulders also help as well as learning to control your hips. tightening hip flexirs and quads may also help to create more awareness
