Colin, a spot to contemplate life and our place in it👍 There is something special about being so in tune with what is going around you rather than the usual diversions and busyness of life. Majestic coastline and a waterfall dropping directly into the sea is the job👍 Almost stormy is the best possible time to be at the coast🌊 for that dramatic mood music. That stretch of sea between Rathlin is usually boiling and those rollers with the lighthouse in the background were pretty cool👍 There is also something about returning to a familiar place and re-experiencing or experiencing anew. A beautiful sunny, warm and settled 2 or 3 weeks of weather has to be on the cards at some stage soon😊
Ive no doubt you have been in these parts Gerry, Is there anywhere you havnt pitched ? lol. Its a very atmospheric place in all weather conditions, but stormy i think lends a certain reverence to how nature is the ultimate law in these coastal parts. It is good just to sit and be , to watch, listen, and taste the salty air , take in every breath . The full moon seemed to animate everything around me, including me in its own moment. Thanks Gerry as always.
Yes i like to give the impression of sobriety every now and again, lets say id a couple more little drams from the hip flask after filming for the night lol, cheers mate , appreciate you dropping in . !!😁
Cracking intro there Colin, very atmospheric. Tried sleeping close to “crashing waves” before and it wasn’t as therapeutic as I thought it would be :-). Lovely spot though… Poor Miriam and the sleeping bag, if I recall she lost her drone some time ago too! I’d be crying like a baby if I lost my sleeping bag 😅

That was a great watch Colin! Some lovely shots of your immediate surroundings, what a special place to camp. Thank god you weren’t blown out to sea 🫣 You lucky thing having a warm sleeping bag for the night 😂 Despite my random misfortune of a gust sucking my sleeping bag through on open inner and out under the closed fly - I learnt a lot! Some lessons I’d rather avoid but there was some benefit to know what I can handle and survive I suppose. -3C with no sleeping bag yet a great mat in the Thermarest Neoair Xtherm. Without that mat and my sleeping bag liner I would have bailed. Shame I couldn’t find the bag the next morning though - I searched and searched the night before and the next morning but no luck 🤦♀️ The drone shots up front in your video are spectacular, how you slept with that wind is beyond me too!! 😎
A very unfortunate mishap Miriam , we’ve all been there before , had to peg everything last night or over the cliff it would go . Yes the neo extherm mats are class indeed , like sleeping on an electric blanket , any lesser of a mat in R value and you’d def have had to bail , as always cheers M 👍🏻👊🏻

Absolutely you should join for a wild camp, I usually hit the Black valley in Kerry often enough another favorite haunt, its more wood burning stove, camp fire and gormet cooking by Ben. Missed you on the last dig, i drew a blank ffs, nothing posted yet about the next one wherever it might be, did I mention the hammered i found on the Inch Abbey dig ?😁😆🤣 Cheers matey. !!
@@frozenmist-w4k my December camp was wild enough . I was tempted this weekend but got some quality time in the woods today. I used to camp down the west alot but my car is acting up . I'd say it was difficult sleep with that cold wind . Is that place south of Portrush?
The steps are a tightener no doubt about that , it would probably be easier if it was just a track with no steps albeit a very steep track 😁 Fairly clears the cobwebs a night on the Head .
What an absolutely stunning location for a camp 😍 The power of the sea is a tremendous thing, that wave 🌊 must have scared the 💩 out of you 🤣 I've been up that way a lot and I've never heard of Kinbane. I'll be paying a visit next time 👌
Get yer ruck sorted and hasten ye to Kinbane Niall, though I would caution, the swells can be a little tricky to call, its rare but that pitch has been breached before, recommend going when its a little calmer. Cheers Niall, . Colin

Amazing I had my first winter camping test run my sleeping bag is adequate lol I'm free this month if you fancy a group camp
