We had Sears in Omaha Nebraska just as similar as the one Toledo Ohio and it closed permanently in March 2019. So sad!! I miss sears. I remember going there as a kid and we used to shop there quite a bit.
This Sears was a johnny come lately to Toledo. The one I and my buddies used to frequent was in the Great Eastern Shopping Center on Woodville R. back in the early 60s. They didn't do clothing yet. We used to get our refills of b-bs for our b-b guns, our bows and arrows, and my dad bought our 12 horse Elgin boat-motor there. Later, I bought many of my tools there. It was a much better Sears than its replacement when they built the Woodville Mall. Ha! It's not just the Sears stores that are gone now, but the shopping centers and malls that held them are gone too. When Sears decided to compete with clothing stores like J. C. Penney's, they started going down hill. By the 70s, the guys on the construction jobs were referring to their "sears-sucker tools" .... "I'm the sucker that bought it from Sears." That was deadly.
I hope someday in the future someone will be making a video about Amazon warehouse closures! Abandon Amazon warehouses. That will be a nice video to watch sometime in the future.
We had 4 Sears stores over the years in my area. We had one down town that opened in 1948 and closed in 1983. It was the second one down town. Three more were in malls and other in a shopping plaza. Lake county IL, and Kenosha and Racine, Wi
This was more or less the same story with the Sear's near me in late '18... Closing, so you had to choose whatever was left at rock bottom prices, and use your best judgment if you purchased it, because there were no refunds, nor warranties available...
@randallfawc7501 0 seconds ago Great story. I remember as a child Sears in Davenport, Iowa ,was the place to shop at Christmas time. They had absolutely everything. Including model train sets running. How things have changed. And not always for the better. Excellent video. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
It’s sad. Seeing friends and neighbors at the store made the community. Now we are faceless usernames addicted to cheap products that make some billionaire richer.
I used to work at SEARS in Toronto, about 18 years ago. I did merchandising in Hardware, paint, water/air, garden, toys, Christmas, seasonal, sporting goods. Basically it was my job to make a quarter of the store look beautiful. My customers loved me. They would always ask me what was new for Christmas time. I still have a bunch of signs and things with the SEARS logo on them. I also have 200 paper cups from Kmart with the Kmart logo on them. I wonder what each cup is worth? Here i a video of somebody showing an abandoned SEARS in Toledo after it closed. I believe that it is the store in your video. th-cam.com/video/C5qRlL_cxUM/w-d-xo.html
I recall when Sears dominated the market, but now they've become obsolete. It's merely an indication of shifting trends, much like how Hollywood Video closed, or Blockbuster and RadioShack disappeared.
I worked there as a teenager, absolutely loved that place and the people I worked with, many great times!
I worked at a different Sears store but absolutely loved the place too. Best job I ever had.
You said that… 5 years ago
You are probably old
I also have very good memories of this specific sears, I remember going there a lot when I was younger. RIP Sears
The Toledo I once knew is gone. It's the sign of times, my friend.
Sears was a great store,I miss it
Its just so sad! So big! I fantasize about reopening these stores.
As someone who retired from Sears and having gone through a store closing 11 years ago, this is hard to watch😢
I worked at the Hardware Store and Kmart what a shame they are both no longer around.
I can almost smell the caramel corn. I remember going there for christmas and taking the tarta shuttle across to The Lion Store
Remember the smell of the nuts and candy counter? I loved going Westgate for shopping, especially at Christmas.
I started a fire in the popcorn machine while working at Sears as a teenager. Not my finest hour

Shopped there many times
Eric and Gerald holding down the closeout appliance fort at 6:46.
Walked in the door and there was the candy counter

Every kid wanted a set of craftman tools

I love Sears. It’s my favorite store.
you can still go to the automotive section, you can't go inside of it, but you can see it from the outside.
Worked #1220 Sears in mid 70’s
Sad these stores don’t work anymore
Great video 👍
Slow down, you were walking too fast.
I worked for 15 years at sears we knew when lambert took over he had no interest in saving sears
Watching and feeling shis tugs at the heart
we shopped there and were from Onsted Michigan
One of the last employee interactions thrown in there too
How can they do this shit to my childhood memories
What made you do this? I wish we had videos of this from the 80s or 90s it would be awesome
Just to document the times
