It is the greek translation of the word Messiah (what also is just the english translation of the greek Word). Given that greek was a comen language in the times of Jesus , and the fact that the new Testament was written in greek it is most likely that the first christians used the greek Name of Jesus. Also in Romans 10;12-18 is written that there isn't any difference between the Jews (the chosen people of God) and the greeks (the nations) and that who ever calls out to the Name of the Lord (and the context makes it clear that it dosn't mater in what language. Remember? No difference between the Jews and the greeks.) will be saved.
The only think that maters is, that you believe in the son of God, who by the way has many names. Read Isaiha 9,5 and Isaiha 7, 14.
