@@ExecutionOfAllThingsif you know the background knowledge then i give you the point. He want to fuck his graduate collage drop out music stuff because the fans wanted this type of music. and he decided to get his way because it‘s his art and show the whole scene theat you coould get a good album with follow your own way. That‘s why there is a short sample part where you here the voice he‘ll give us what we need but not what we want. And that‘s why i would say this album is soo important for his carrer i like it.

@@ach121 one correction… The line is “he’ll give us what we need, it MAY not be what we want.”
He knows they were some fans like you and me out there who would understand this transition perfectly, and appreciate it even more for his self-awareness.
If Pablo didn’t exist, this would be his best record.
If “Ghost Town” didn’t exist, “Blood on the Leaves” would be his best track.
In my own opinion, of course.

@@bellasilva7461mine is “Blood on the Leaves” but I’ll defend “I Am a God” too. I find the dad hypocritical when he said that rappers shouldn’t have any boundaries just as comedians earlier but later says he disliked “I Am a God” because it’s offensive. Rules for thee but not for me. But he’s also right that this song isn’t meant for casual leisure, it’s the inner psychology study on madness and it’s ugliness. Context aside tho, I like how evil and primal the beat sounds so I’m cool wit it.

Virgil gave some insight to this album cover during either an artist talk or an interview. Originally the album was going to be designed by either Takashi Murakami (Graduation cover artist) or George Condo (MBDTF). Virgil was brought in onto the project.
Virgil said working with them was like going to art school. In the end, they realized that this album would be one of the last major albums with a major CD release because mp3 became the main form of listening to music. So the stripped down cover not only matches the minimalism of the sound, but also serves as an open casket funeral to the CD as a musical format.
TL;DR: the cover is an open-casket funeral to music CDs

    On "On Sight" he says:
"How much do I not give a fuck?
Let me show you right now 'fore you give it up"

Yeezus is sooooooo underrated even to this day, probably due to it being so different in terms of production and it being a huge ego trip for Kanye. But when you look at what he did with the production and actually listen to the lyrics it is undeniably one of his best if not the best.

@@ChronicSpinDash fr no cap. I bought this album day one and when I showed it to my friends they're like yeah, the lyrics are kind of cool but the sound is wack.
The further back in time you go the more people stick within the genres of music they most listened to or was around them. I remember when I heard a song on an ad and I have to go as far to contact The ad agency that produced the ad and the artist that they selected for 30 seconds.
People who listened to this are coming from hip hop strictly. Rap is graffiti on a wall and ye took those spray cans and made a mural on a bed of steel rods. Hip-hop said wack. but all of us who love music as art saw this as beautiful. Around this time dubstep was peeking into mainstream with Skrillex at the forefront. And for Kanye to deconstruct the machine music and stretch out the notes was ingenious. This was Kanye at his most egotistical conceited high on himself. He had just presented his crowning achievement and had the Midas touch with the g.o.o.d music album and watch the throne. It was because of this that the reviewers thought Kanye was convinced he could sht out gold with no direction or coherent ideas which made this album a downgrade. My fav is 'im in it's the instrumentals and it's pathway diversity stop and go thru the track is perfect.

Everyone has their own fave, but this defo isn't his 'best'. It's just a colour in Kanye's paint pallet. It seems like those who got into Kanye late tend to prefer Yeezuz more than those who grew up with The College Dropout, who for the most part can't stand the album. Me personally I listen to every Ye album on a frequent basis depending on my mood, every one is a masterpiece when you really consider what went into them, and how they changed music at the time.

Yeezus is definitely a good Kanye album for sure !!! Glad your dad liked it as well . W reaction !!! Hope your dad checks out The Weeknd’s discography sooner like The trilogy mixtapes and Kiss Land . I’m sure he won’t be disappointed with his discography.

That's cool - I found this album the easiest to get into but I love harsh electronic music. I thought this may have been his biggest album or something 😆 Didn't know it was so badly received! 😂 Still can't choose a favourite from him though... maybe MBDTF because that's what got me into him in the first place. Thank you for these reactions, you two are brilliant ❤

New Slaves is by far the best to me that second verse is one of Kanye's best and also the outro is one of his best ever

this is one of kanye’s best records, i think. but it definitely sticks out like a sore thumb in the grand scheme of his discography and the hip-hop genre as a whole.
bound 2 is one of his best. classic kanye.

Not hip hop genre as a whole, experimental rap still exists remember Death Grips?. 808s and Yeezus stands out the most but in a good way.

IAAG is so hard esp the outro and also Send it Up they r the most underrated here, but best is HML/New Slaves.

A lot of people can rank their albums depending on their taste in music. Me loving electronic music made Yeezus my top 3 back when it got released. That’s the beauty of Kanye’s discography, it is arguably the best discography that has the most diversity

I think you might be talking about Ska music when you were talking about the connection between Jamaica and the skinheads. Ska music originated in Jamaica and was the music that both groups would listen to and it had heavy use of the two tone black and white checkerboard logos to represent both groups (obviously before the skinheads started adopting different political views). Not sure if you got the answer in the end as I haven't finished the video yet.

I go a few months without viewing the channel so there's always some content to watch when I get bored and feel like hearing music I might not have heard of. I'm going to start from the "newest" video I've not yet seen but I just wanted to say because I know you really Kanye. It must wild right now liking his music with all the stuff he's saying, lol. I have to say I really couldn't care what he says, sometimes it's a bit funny, but man has that man gone off his meds.
