i think most "great directors" do.. i mean, just any great operator in big biz knows their own biz super well. blockbusters are a big biz. this rev tech is a big biz.
the diff we may notice most on youtube is how open and sharing caring james cameran (jeje) is.
aint no way spielberg would ever drop a break down like this on any of his ground breaking films before release on a small channel.

Wouldn't it be great if we were given all the capture data and could edit our own versions of these films? There have been several videogames featuring live action performances but we need to take that a step further and have games where we select the performances from the sound stage and then edit together our own films on virtual sets.

This is the greatest video I've ever seen on how exactly they are actually able to create the Avatar films! They were right to show us with the video samples how the editing process was a layered approach and how they could connect and alter the performances...finally I am understanding the process...and oh wow, it's even more incredible than I had thought! Thank you for this!
