I agree with a few of the other reasons people have said about why this would have been a great scene to keep, but also I think it shows another parallel to the first movie (though I know some people don't like how many there are already, I think it's interesting to see) because it’s similar to Neytiri teaching Jake to understand the forest.

I made the same mistake of thinking they are the same, but they just have similar haircuts. Rotxo is consistently good-hearted onscreen, besides the part where he calls them bad divers

The recome doesn't have any dare to speak one word against spider because he is Colonel's son otherwise they would have shoot that monkey boy although it's fun to watch their chemistry of son and father I must say that Colonel have feeling for his son maybe that's why he brings spider everywhere he goes because Colonel does not want his child to suffer from torture of RDA.

the reasoning for leaving this out doesn't exactly work bc spider keeps helping them, with the ikran, with the language, with saving quarritch in the end when jake had actually defeated him and that could have been the end of a great foe. Not to mention, every single moment he is not trying to escape, fight, or otherwise inconvenience the humans.

i really hope we get to see garvin have a greater role in avatar 3, it seems they’re building up to him joining the side of the na’vi. he could be a pretty valuable addition, since he’d probably be able to spy on the RDA and go pretty unnoticed since he seems virtually powerless to them beyond being a scientist.
