Yay! Superbooth weekend. One of my favourite weekends of the year for binge-watching Sonicstate videos and see the fascinating new stuff and lovely atmosphere of the world's foremost electronic musicmaking trade show.
Great instrument for timbral experimentation and exploration, which is one of my favourite ways of working with modular synthesis. I also love the choice of not making any normalled connections, but all open architecture, potentially allowing for audio to be used as CV and vice versa, and that means all patches are also visualised with the cables. Once you get used to that, you don't want to be without it.
Looks very interesting. I get the distinct impression that 13 minutes is not enough to present this beast, to put it mildly. Looking forward to a lengthy review, somewhere...
Yeah i've got the synth block from my even older System 10 in my EuroRack case - it does sound more retro than any of my other analogue gear or modules - in a nice fat and chunky way ha
Like it a lot, but it would be so great to see it in the hands of a real synth genius like Ann Annie, RBeny or Omri Cohen ! I really get the feeling all the demos only show like 10 percent of the sonic palette the Lab 2 is possible to sound. But fact is, most people in modular are more technicians, collectors and nerds than musical artists. I guess most companies simply can't afford an electronic music wizard like Mr.Dataline was for Elektron back in the day any more. The only one I can think of right now is someone like Kodek at Erica Synths. Chances missed.
@@sonicstate no assumption. Years of dealing with Pitts over gear that didn’t work. Eventually abandoning them as I can’t trust the products. I wouldn’t post such a comment if I hadn’t had a bad experience.

Richard Nicol just seems like the coolest guy to hang with and talk synth with.
He's pretty great, I recommend it :)
True, we hang for beers out or do music together about once a week.
One more amazing engeneer on the show. All the good to Richard !
I sent my Lifeforms System 201 over from the UK to get repaired and their customer service was fantastic

Flanger, Chorus - Florist. Love it
Super neat. I have the double helix as my main analogue oscillator for years. This is a direct evolution for sure.
Looking forward to the classic Superbooth video flood 🥰
Beautiful
Love Pittsburgh Modular! Love my structure rack and taiga, very interested in the new voltage lab 🤘🏻
Synth of a lifetime here!
Beautiful start. Amazing machine.
It's Pittsburgh's version of the Buchla music easel. Very nice indeed
The first one is such an inspiring instrument, I can't wait to play the new one.
It's beautiful! Looking forward to buying one.

The envelope has fallen off the desk. I love what these people are doing over there at Pittsburgh Modular.
2:48 Rubber band bass tone 🤤😲
Awesome
look realy cool ! i realy like the fact all the jack a nears eatch other , so now use smaller cable and you can see your synth ^^
I still have an old lifeforms and there is just something about the pittsburgh sound. It feels more 'analogue' but thats a stupid notion. 🤔

The synth is ace but, that fonts and colors man... what happened to the lovely dark gray panels from the VL 1?
agreed
PGH doesn't miss.

"Pulse symmetry? Sounds promising!" Hahahahah
If anyone in Berlin can read this, please, get this man a single stack cable
Early start!
Looks terrific, they're doing great stuff at PM.
I'm really considering asking my bank for a loan for this lol
omg I've soiled my faux underpants
i probably never afford this
Not with that attitude... start saving and you might 🙂
Gear guaranteed to fail or be faulty
Not sure why you would assume that? All the Pittsburgh stuff we've reviewed I don't think we've had any problems

@@TRaddcliff sorry to hear that. They've always been pretty straight with us
