Adidas has earned a special place in hockey jersey history in a relatively short time. Whoever is next in line, I hope that they put quality and design at the forefront as Adidas have done. This is a big reason I'm hoping for New Era to get the contract. NHL teams not contracting with New Era for hats now are leaving money on the table as it is. If NE was the official apparel provider for the whole league, the coordinated combos they could make would be a lot of fun for fans and collectors alike. Also, I really like the CFL jerseys. I genuinely really like their CFL jerseys. Plus their hats are iconic and it's a bummer the NHL doesn't have a partnership with them atm, so I'm hoping for this too but I'm not sure how likely it is

I'd be surprised if it isn't CCM taking over, since they were owned by Adidas, they do the minor league versions of the existing patterns, and can likely just license the "jersey system" from Adidas. It serves the purpose of Adidas exiting the sport (refocusing) and maintaining a revenue stream for their patterns while bringing sustained consistency to the league uniforms. My only worry with anyone else is going through the "we can only do X patterns this year, so everyone has to conform" .. and Nike might change too much to fit their design philosophy / uniform system.

Original CCM / KOHO jerseys will always be my favourite, I have a few of the current CCM quicklite jerseys and they're pretty good. Reebok replicas were average at best, the game ready versions were much better though. The one problem I've always had with Adidas is the sizing, do they not know how to measure properly and consistently? I buy the size 60s and yeah, none of them are actually a proper size 60 and some I've had are closer to a size 52!! As for their replacement, I'm also hoping it's not Nike or Fanatics, would definitely prefer CCM or possibly New Balance, whoever gets the contract, i will not be buying them - I'm calling time on collecting new jersey designs after 2023/24.

Hopefully they continue with the same materials if CCM takes over. If they end up selecting Fanatics I will not be buying anything and I’ll be stocking up next year on Adidas jerseys lmao
I’ll miss Adidas honestly, started really getting into buying more once they took over. I’ve really enjoyed both RR lines as a Bolts fan! I’m also gonna miss those waffle board shoulders, for some reason I really love them! I’ve also liked how they fit, not too loose and big and not too slim and tight for my frame at least.
While I haven’t seen them do hockey yet, I’d love to see Under Armour take it. They have great experience with consumer apparel and after a bumpy road, they finally have figured out football jerseys with some college teams and the XFL.
simply amazing video, I completely forgot about Warrior and yet I'm in the UK where we have the Elite Ice |Hockey League where our jerseys were Warrior for a season and were mainly were print screened on logos to help the airflow and aerodynamics as said in the CHL. My only gripe is the ridiculous sizing from the adidas branded jerseys. Hope CCM take over once more and stick to a more practical sizing chart/guide :)
@@icethetics no problem :) we might be a small island between Ireland and Europe but we do have some very good hockey teams over here ^_^ and I for one do love my hockey both state side and UK :)
I wish this next brand is multiple brands. The jerseys today are so boring under one brand. I love back in the 90s where each time vastly looked different with their jersey style. Today it’s stripes on arm stripe on bottom 1 solid color with accent. Back then you had veritcle lines inverted lines craziness it was fun. That’s why I love the reverse retro because it breaks up the boring adidas reebok style jersey. The NFL in the 90s was amazing they had different brands and each team had unique schemes
I’d be interested to see what New Era could bring to the table. One smaller brand that I think would make some nice designs would be ‘47 they already make some merch for the NHL and I’m a fan.
I think underarmour is a very interesting idea, I don’t know about any other teams but they currently make the sweaters for the Wisconsin Badgers and they gave the badgers an amazing update while maintaining the consistency of their look and incorporating some great nods to Wisconsin itself.
They do make the jersey's for South Dakota State University, the other SDSU on all sports except Volleyball I know that the Jackrabbit got screwed in the process as Under Armour refused to make the uniforms unless they removed the old cartoon mascot from the team entirely no person as the Mascot allowed but nobody else wanted to make uniforms unless the school paid the company lots of money to do so and the Under Armour deal was about all they could get. Now the Rabit looks like a logo for a brand I have seen redo a logo like that before. They have a tie to Maryland University where Under Armour got its start as a Football and distance running/track sports apparel only company but almost lost the entire sports contract due to how a lesser football coach who helped kill an athlete with a heart condition.
Amazing video man! Just from how many years I have loved New Era hats I think this would be the company to put forth the creative effort & quality product that I would love to throw my money at!
I am pretty sure it is gonna be Bauer. They provide at least some Jerseys for the German first Division. I really love the designs for my home team the Adler Mannheim (Seiders and Stützles former Team)
My big 2 picks would be New Era and a hopeful CCM, I still own a few old CCM jerseys and I love them. I'd love to see what a modern CCM would bring to the table.
With Nike already supplying the NFL, MLB, and NBA, my guess is they'll go after the NHL to have all of the Big Four. Ready for City Connect NHL jerseys? Amazing video as always! Appreciate the history lesson and will miss the Adidas jerseys.
I started following the NHL in the mid-1990s and to me, that was the golden era of hockey jerseys. From that point until Adidas took over the uniform contract, you could purchase an 'authentic' jersey that pretty much matched what was on-ice. My main concern regarding the next jersey supplier is whether or not authentic jerseys will be made and if so, will they be readily available to the consumer. I know they're pricey but I'd like to see these jerseys back on the market.
Working with TNSE, I know the Jets sold authentic gamer issued Adidas MiC (made in 🇨🇦) on game days in the arena. On EBay you can find a few blank/customized game issued jerseys
@@Annexation_ Yeah, they're available but not readily so and they tend to be expensive. I wonder if any will shake free for more affordable prices after next season. I remember the good old days when River City Sports would advertise authentics for $75 to $130 a piece in The Hockey News. That's probably one reason why they're rarer and so much more costly nowadays.
I’d be interested to see what some of these larger companies could come up with. I also want fanatics to be as far away as possible. Ot does a lot of AHL specialties as well, and I just can’t get into them. CCM would probably best the best option.
Could you do a video with an in depth look at jersey history, going back to the beginning? This video was great, so I would love to see more. Especially back to the wool sweaters, it's fascinating.
Would really not be surprised to see Under Armour throw their hat in. They've supplied my college (northeastern)'s jerseys for a little bit now and the jerseys themselves are very nice. Only issue we've had with them is they're terrible about merch. Since fanatics has NHL merch locked down though there's a good chance that wouldn't be an issue.
Anyone but Nike New Era would be interesting, when they did make NHL hats I liked the fit and styles. CCM should be THE ONE, even if you don't play hockey and someone mentions CCM they know its hockey related.
I think it would be cool for under armor to take a sign only cause they don't have any major leagues that they supply for so nhl jerseys would be a top priority for them
The real factor is where it’s made an authentic Canadian made Jersey dwarf any Indonesia made , my authentic pro player and ultrafil starter from back in the day are my favorite jerseys by far
I am glad that you pointed out how bad most of Nike’s Olympic hockey uniforms have been. Most jerseys follow the same striping pattern with simply different colors and logos. Hardly inspiring!
Seeing as how Nike has the current contracts with NBA, NFL, MLB, they do the Olympics jerseys, their past NHL history, the player endorsements they created (like with Mats Sundin), and the financial juggernaut they are leads me to believe it will be them with the next contract. As a collector of team issue jerseys I can only hope they don't make a lie out of the term authentic jersey the way Adidas and the latter part of the Reebok contract did
It seems like the companies with enough capital and manufacturing prowess would be: Nike, CCM, and Under Armour Nike taking the contract would make it complete sweep of all 4 major North America professional sports.
Going into this video my vote would be for Underarmor. Now that I've watch it ... Underarmor is still my #1 as a hockey fan. #2 would probably be CCM ... but it would not have the punch and push that Underarmor would in the USA.
I'm wondering if the NHL would ever go the route of the English Premier League and have teams with different jersey makers instead of having one supplier for the entire league (i.e. Toronto, Boston, NY Rangers having adidas jerseys; Arizona, Vegas and Calgary having Nike jerseys, etc.).
I’m excited to see who comes next. The biggest thing I want is the ability to purchase exactly what is worn on the ice. Right now the adidas “on ice” stuff isn’t actually what the players wear. Im ok if they cost more, keep the lower tiers and then just add that higher tier for a little more cost.
Interesting. That’s actually one of the things I loved most about Adidas. In all the important ways, the detail of the retail versions match what you see on the ice. But I don’t have all that gear on underneath when I wear a jersey, so I don’t need the big roomy cut that players do. I really appreciate the fit of the Adidas retail authentics.
@@icethetics oh don’t get me wrong, I loved the Adidas jerseys and I thought their cut was perfect for over a hoodie. I just want there to be that next tier up for if people want it. For example if I want to rn I can get the exact jersey worn by my favorite NFL, NBA or MLB team, yea they’re expensive, but if you’re a collector that’s neat.
The build quality of the prime green logos and the on ice jersey is fantastic and will be incredibly hard to beat. I notice on average less wear on jersey sleeves for my gamers than the Reebok counterpart. As for the indos however, I fine then snag prone. And basically a middle ground to the fanatics breakaway as they still have the nice main logos and patches but the jerseys themselves are cut and sewn using different methods and fabrics. The retro reverse runs especially 2.0 were incredible. Definitely a tough act to follow. I just hope whoever takes the deal. Build a new jersey template from scratch. I wouldn't be surprised if there already a deal signed because these jerseys may need to start design and production by now. They probably just can't announce it due to some agreement with adidas because they still have to market their last run of jerseys before people decide to save their money of the latest (and hopefully, greatest).
Amazing video. I don't think Nike would be so bad, I like their recent Olympic Sweater designs. The colors and patterns are ultimately up to the teams.
I remember when teams had their own manufacturers and I wouldn’t mind that again but we know that won’t happen as you said so I’m hoping for ccm ! I just hope we get a great caliber jersey and hopefully we can get on ice retail jerseys again like reebok 2.0’s I hate the adidas knockoff authentics
Would be good to see Steichens based in Little Canada MN resume its duties. Unfortunately the major supplier went OOB about 10yrs ago or so. Check out the Steichens swag on the North Stars ca. 87 88. If teams wish to don CCMalls/Cooperalls again SandovalSK could come out of the woodwork😅. In our market GA has put out great unis as well as Dangle Pro Athletic. My vote is to have suppliers gain the NHL logo so potential local markets can fit their team.
I'm hoping it will go to anybody else for selfish reasons. I expect that once the jersey manufacturer changes there will be some significant clearance on some of the current gear, so I'd love to be able to pick up a few cheap ones. As it stands now, two of the three jerseys I have are for retired players and the third is autographed so I don't always feel comfortable wearing it to games (for instance, it's supposed to be raining tomorrow and I don't want to wear the autographed jersey in the rain).

Very exciting stuff! Can’t wait to see who gets the deal and see all the New Jerseys and design talent!
The Adidas jerseys were banging for FUN. Worried about the collar though.
I can attest to the crumby fanatics gear. My Bruins athletic shorts had iron on logos and after a year of medium use wear, both fell right off.
Thanks, David! Great to have a UK hockey fan watching.
@@icethetics no problem :) we might be a small island between Ireland and Europe but we do have some very good hockey teams over here ^_^ and I for one do love my hockey both state side and UK :)
I learned a lot about something I thought I knew lot about. Thanks Chris! Great work.
Same! I learned so much myself while researching this video. Thanks, Sean!
Great video. I'd like to see some competition again when it comes to uniform manufacturers.
New Era would surprise a lot of people. They did a fantastic job with the CFL.
Really good stuff here man 👍
I’d be interested to see what New Era could bring to the table.
I appreciate the amount of research in this video. Awesome!
I only really could see Nike or CCM, maybe Bauer, Warrior/NB or New Era but I doubt it
My big 2 picks would be New Era and a hopeful CCM, I still own a few old CCM jerseys and I love them. I'd love to see what a modern CCM would bring to the table.
Awesome video as always !
Thank you!
This was my first time seeing one of your videos but it's definitely not going to be my last. Amazing production value.
Thanks, Richard! Hope you enjoy the rest of the channel.
Been looking forward to this video 💯💯💯
Really nice history class here, at least in the past side of things.
If CCM does it, they absolutely MUST change the neckline because the ones on the current AHL jerseys look horrendous
And that's what makes me hesitant. The collars do not look good.
With Nike already supplying the NFL, MLB, and NBA, my guess is they'll go after the NHL to have all of the Big Four. Ready for City Connect NHL jerseys?
Amazing video as always! Appreciate the history lesson and will miss the Adidas jerseys.
Thanks, Bryden!
They already have Reverse Retros, which are basically the same thing.
@@santiago253 They’re not the same thing whatsoever.
Nike willl increase visibility for The Sport as well Go Big Bettman please
@@JBTriple8 Nike jerseys give me aids. Quality is terrible. Just look at the iihf and Olympic jerseys
What about Majestic? They made MLB jerseys up until a few years ago. Are they still big enough for something like NHL jerseys?
As long as who has the contract offers the maska pro stock made jerseys like ccm did in the 90s
As a hockey fan and official jersey collector, sign me up for CCM...
Amazing video as usual
Would really not be surprised to see Under Armour throw their hat in. They've supplied my college (northeastern)'s jerseys for a little bit now and the jerseys themselves are very nice. Only issue we've had with them is they're terrible about merch. Since fanatics has NHL merch locked down though there's a good chance that wouldn't be an issue.
I would be totally down for New Era taking over. CFL jerseys are good quality.
Anyone but Nike
New Era would be interesting, when they did make NHL hats I liked the fit and styles.
I would love to see CCM come back. Only problem being most teams will deface the jersey by putting ads on it.
This was a quality video hope to see more of these.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the rest of the channel.
Absolute banger of a video
🤟
I am glad that you pointed out how bad most of Nike’s Olympic hockey uniforms have been. Most jerseys follow the same striping pattern with simply different colors and logos. Hardly inspiring!
Such a great video. Love the history of it all. Thanks for creating this. So enjoyable!
Thanks so much!
Thanks for not sugar coating how crap Fanatics is. I'll be crushed if they get the rights.
Exceptional content, as always, Chris.
Thank you, Max!
Seeing as how Nike has the current contracts with NBA, NFL, MLB, they do the Olympics jerseys, their past NHL history, the player endorsements they created (like with Mats Sundin), and the financial juggernaut they are leads me to believe it will be them with the next contract. As a collector of team issue jerseys I can only hope they don't make a lie out of the term authentic jersey the way Adidas and the latter part of the Reebok contract did
It seems like the companies with enough capital and manufacturing prowess would be: Nike, CCM, and Under Armour
Nike taking the contract would make it complete sweep of all 4 major North America professional sports.
Going into this video my vote would be for Underarmor.
Now that I've watch it ... Underarmor is still my #1 as a hockey fan. #2 would probably be CCM ... but it would not have the punch and push that Underarmor would in the USA.
Great vid! Thanks, I'm a jersey guy.
@@icethetics I’m actually wearing a Pastrnak jersey rn
Nike has the entire USA top 4 watched Pro sports leagues if they got the NHL. Please, do not go that route.
New sub here - Just want to comment on the quality of your editing and transitions/animations......you deserve more subs.
Thanks for the sub!
I hoping that Adidas and the nhl can work out a deal but it probably won’t happen I love the adidas jerseys
CCM is my pick. Like you said, the NHL would just get lost at Nike and I have never liked their Olympic jerseys.
Can’t wait to watch this after work!
Will def have thoughts haha
