- I purchased an 89 Suburban, sight unseen! Did I screw up? I fly out and drive the truck 700 miles home from San Antonio, Texas.

Nice score. They are cool and getting hard to find. Little things needed to get in shape be cool cruiser. And maybe a little stance adjustment with new wheels and tires be cool.

Always liked a Suburban. That's nice..you could flat down the hood with 1000 or 1500 grit and clear coat..not a hard job. Just needs a good detail. Plenty videos on fixing cracked dashes. Depends if you removing it out to fix. I don't think I'd lower it. ... Good luck. Nice find if nice and solid..PS a new truck these days are 80.000 . So a bargain probably.
Good points, it is a super solid truck. I’m going to do some research on the dash, I was planning on pulling it out and doing something with it. For the hood wonder if I could use the turbo can clear??
@@Timmy_Forget yep. The hood takes a beating. So you need a good clear coat that will hold up to Alabama sun. The paint today is water based. But the clear coat is cellulose based. Stop at a body shop. Get advice. You can put a Teflon finish.. There is a company called just dashes. I've seen many top boys use them. But could be expensive. Depends if you selling it or keeping it. New brake pedal rubber. Get it nice and put a big price on it. Nnkh bought two out in the Arizona desert if you check his channel out. Good episode. Good luck man. Buy low sell high. More junk to maintain. Lol. Have a good one.

Haha, you were within 10 miles of my location, when you got to DFW, and that is hilarious you were assigned gate C 10! Boerne is pronounced like bur-knee. We have some very interesting pronunciations around here!
I'd say you did great for a 35 year old Suburban. Many around here didn't look that nice 20 years ago. That interior is super clean! I was fortunate enough to find a NOS GM dash for my '81, before the prices went crazy on them. I had first bought and aftermarket, and yes, the fitment was horrible. I wonder if a better option for you would be to trim out the damaged areas, and just use a dash overlay?
Perhaps wet sand, touch up that scrape, re clear the hood, repair the other minor body issues, and give it a good polish/wax. Might be a 10 footer, then!
Of course, do your personal touches, tune up and it would be good.
Mirrors would be high on the priority list for me. Those are a pretty big mess. Must have been garage kept at some point, and gotten too close to the frame, one too many times.
I've preferred stock height on mine, so I can crawl under them to do oil changes, and stuff like that, since I don't have access to a lift. Yours lowered a bit would look pretty slick though.

Yeah, I think we’ll be able to touch up the bumps and bruises and definitely make it a ten footer! That pronunciation is crazy Burn knee…. If only the truck could talk and tell us where it’s been.

I really like that squarebody...I think you did well what year is it? Looks like it is one of the last years of the squares...BTW I think those spots on the front bumper were bumperettes....that's what it looks like...War Eagle !

I think they're for factory tow hooks. Also, what did you get for mileage?

Ended up getting 14.3 miles per gallon.. not too bad.

When the wife says it doesn't look bad and has her hands on the hips that's mixed signals. You can call this vehicle Tupperware. Look how snuggie fit in it when you laid back. And it's a suburban otherwise it's called a BURB. You have to BURP Tupperware. Okay I really had to reach for that one! I don't know if they even make Tupperware now.
I know there's a 71 Chevy Blazer tucked away. It runs basically. Four wheel drive and 12500 and you can take it out of his shed. And smack dab in the middle of this great country of ours. I've never been able to get him to go lower than that. Frankly I'm not that interested in it and for me there's not enough meat on the bone for flipping. Always a few others from 1955 or so through I think he has a 77 square body.
After all these years, she knows I’m a little crazy. She says she doesn’t care what I do as long as I don’t touch her car!! Keep trying for that blazer that’s an awesome year. Hopefully the guy will come down for you to a reasonable number.
I think I’m going to call the truck the Duke that was another gentleman’s suggestion and I like it
@@Timmy_Forget yeah I saw that suggestion. Hey you need to go get yourself an old MRE. WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT. Those are recalled because they actually killed some army personnel. But they had a candy bar in them back then and called it John Wayne. Putting your pickup as a conversation piece. John Wayne goes with the Duke. You know I have done years ago those things weren't bringing anything. I did not buy anything but the one you have listened pretty good shape. Set 12500 is basically scrap Parts price for that blazer. It doesn't really interests me. I like pickup trucks. Besides I have traveled too far to get it in my estimation. I'm just sharing it with you in case you were interested.
