- X-Bomber was renamed Star Fleet and dubbed by English speaking actors for broadcast in the United Kingdom on ITV. The show was broadcast there on Saturday mornings, first airing on October 23, 1982,[4] the day before Star Wars aired for the first time on British television. Due to its broadcast slot, the advertisements shown before, during and after each episode frequently included children's Public Information Films. The series was also broadcast as such on first-run syndication in the United States. Drawing heavily on diverse influences such as Star Wars, Japanese Anime and Gerry Anderson's various "Supermarionation" series, the show ran for twenty-four half-hour episodes (twenty-five in Japan - the eighteenth episode, titled Bloody Mary's Promotion, was not included in the English version, as it consisted mainly of flashbacks). The English version's theme song was composed by Paul Bliss,[5] and was later covered by Queen member Brian May and Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen. This was released under the name "Star Fleet Project". The screenplay was adapted for English by Michael Sloan, who in later years would create the popular TV series The Master and The Equalizer. Actress Denise Bryer ("Commander Makara") and editor Tony Lenny both went on to collaborate with Gerry Anderson and Christopher Burr making another memorable sci-fi series, Terrahawks.

With 3D printers it SHOULD BE easy AND CHEAP to make more series like this ... personally I am a bit bored by "perfect" computer-created cartoons.

Well, what do you expect, this ship is being run by like four guys, a useless robot and a space Princess an her pet Ape-Thing, when it looks like it should have a crew of at least thirty.
@@weldonwin Obviously this was done to save cost ... and time ... because you need to create "characters" for these characters, which takes time in the series.

Well in naval terminology hard to starboard does mean turn left (as happens in Titanic). It means move the tiller to starboard which turns the boat to port..
Fun Fact, Barry Hercules Afro is also a crash helmet.

The background music is perfect. Didn't Daft Punk say they were influenced by some of this? Even if not, you could see how they could have been, it's that good.

It took me a long time to realize that PPA isn't actually an android. It's just a robot with mechanical features..

The original series of this (X-Bomber) must have been made very near, in time, to Walt Disney: Black Hole, 1979, maybe no one else likes that movie, i do, especially John Barry's, beautiful score, for it. Maybe watch that movie too; Imo, both items can stand singularly as stand alone: vides to view, and both share very distinct and different stories, so both should reward the viewer with a great view!
Why are Earth's astrofighters such complete bobbins? If they have the tech to build X-Bomber and Dai-X, why is everything else so fundamentally useless?

Because everything other than X-Bomber and Dai-X were outsourced to China.

They are really not using Dai X a lot in this series which is surprising given the type of show and who made it.
I think they wanted to keep Dai-X as something special, that it was something they would only break out when the stakes were really high, so we didn't get too used to it. Its something they did on the Netflix version of Voltron, where five or six episodes could go by without them using Voltron, so every time they did break it out, you got hyped for it
@@weldonwin if you ask me, I would have preferred it if they did what Dancouga did where the robot didn’t show up until halfway through the series as that not only gave the individual components more time to shine, but it also made Dancouga feel that much more powerful. Also I wouldn’t have made that complaint if this series was more than 24 episodes long.
