Mind BLOWING! I've had a phase of not touching my bass much because lockdown.. don't want to make my neighbours go totally insane living next to a double bassist! This... Oh wow. I play jazz bass too and thank you for this! So good!
Just got the Finale carbon fiber bow you showed on your video. It sounds better than what I had but I think the Spiro's Light are just difficult to bow......will practice these exercises.
I wrote a bass solo on the electric bass that I'm somewhat proud of. It "should" be dang near impossible bowing it on an upright, but I refuse to compromise after hearing this. I can't wait to try at least
What affordable bow do you recommend? By affordable, I mean a bow that costs less than a car payment or a house payment. I know bow making is a true skill, but I am not a professional musician. I am just a long time musician learning a new skill. Also, French or German? I have played violin, so I am comfortable holding a violin bow. Is German bow easier for bass?
Once i see a guy grabbing the french bow horizontaly whit his ring and pinki finger to allow him to use jazz pizzicato whitout let the bow down. I'll search the video. Edit: here is the video th-cam.com/video/afTruloiJx4/w-d-xo.html
Jason. Your Dog...he/she put's up with your public embarrassing for only 3 reasons. 1. Love. 2. Food. 3, and, as I found this with my old Staffy: The opportunity to return the embarrassment, 3-fold ..in Public. Like the day he decided to "cower" in public when I went to put his lead on. I NEVER took a hand to him, and he had a life of fun, food and love. Obviously it was payback time for something. And the looks I got...
i love how u dance with ur doggy at the end 🤣
His live streams with the synths have been magical.
He's such a creative musician, isn't he? 😀
Sounds so good!

Yeah, those can be tricky strings to bow no matter what you're using!

good review and most interesting technique and sound! Do you think the technique depends on the particular bow hold he's got?
I’m not sure, but it’s an interesting approach!
So... is he using a German bow? With a French grip?
He is for that particular clip, but usually he's playing on a French bow.
More like a Baroque Grip I would say.
That bow has to be stickier than a flytrap...
No kidding!
