- In this week's video I am critiquing my viewers' art! I will go over and give tips for things like anatomy, body proportions, coloring, shading, anatomy, character design and more! I hope these drawing tips will be helpful to beginners or artists of any skill level.

How to submit your art:

- You can send the art to l2dmdrawmyoc@gmail.com (l2dm = L2DM many people think the "L" is an "i") in the subject of the email please include the word "Critique" so I know you want me to critique it.
- Or post the art to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #l2dmcritique
- In the email/post include art you would like me to give feedback on. If the art is done traditionally the picture of it needs to be clear and in good lighting. You can submit multiple pictures if you like, but I will probably only choose one to critique.
- In the email or post, you can tell me if there is a specific part of the art you want me to give feedback on. For example; the hair, face, coloring, and so on. That way I can give you advice in areas that you feel like you need help in.

13:30 Ironically, my favorite person to get feedback from is my mom and she’s not an artist. The reason I like her advice is because my mom has a tendency to be brutally honest (in a loving way), so I know she won’t lie or hold back to “spare my feelings”. She also has a real eye for detail and notices things I don’t. Also, since she’s not an artist, she describes things that the average person would notice is wrong. Sometimes that is oddly more helpful than asking my artist friends. After she’s critiqued me, I usually tweak my work and then show it to my artist friends, who can help give advice for the things my mom couldn’t.

That’s great I’m glad you have a good relationship with your mom unlike me but hey my mom lied to me for a long time but I’m glad you like art keep working hard I’m not good at online art but I can do art on paper due to the fact a pencil makes it easier I’m more used to the shading while I have lack In experience of coloring so I prefer sketching

6:57 I think i forgot to flip the canvas thats why the eyes looked weird😭the highlights are a very nice touch to my art so i am glad you added those^^ (i almost threw my phone away when i saw my drawing.. i am soo happy i got chosen🤧❤️❤️)

What I love the most, is how you set each person up for success. You pick one area for them to work on, and include encouragement as well as the critique. I'm sure because of your help, these talented people are on their way to their next art break through!

At 8:20 I feel like the mouth looks a bit unnatural being moved so far to the left, nonetheless these critiques always help me improve my art so much!! Thank you Bekah :D
I mean like she said in previous videos its just critique its not redrawing so even if it doesn't look perfect she wants you to get a idea of what she means
I really liked your piece actually and I agree with you about the mouth and I think the nose placement looked a bit off after alterations. At the end of the day you gotta remember its suggestions based on Rebecca’s style so it’s not the only correct choice. It’s just suggestions and opinions like how I’m doing right now
My suggestion for the mouth is to even it out in a way. The way you have it now makes it feel like the classic anime smile. It is a cool style to have, but if you want my own suggestion, you could widen the upper lip and wrap it to the skull. It would give off more realistic vibes. But I think that the reason why both pictures look slightly off is because the direction that the eyes, nose and chin are facing is slightly different from one another. To me it looks like the character is facing a bit to the right judging from ear and nose but the char. left eye js too close to the ear.
Yep I thought so too!! I feel like the original face looked a lot better than the “corrected” one but i guess this is just some critique based on her artstyle

7:41 i agree with you about the adjustments with the shirt, but I'm not so sure with where you changed the mouth. To me it doesn't look in line with the rest of the face. It's just something I noticed. You're a great artist and I agree with you on the rest of these ❤
gotta agree- the shirt was a great change but i felt the eyes could've instead be tilted to the right a bit more to keep the flow of the piece 😅the nose didn't really need to be any larger & the change to the mouth made the expression end up feeling stiff

This series really helps me know what NOT to do like in the other critique video you explained about the the nose and how to have to match the direction of the face in a not weird way!

12:02 I struggle with angles still so makes sense the horns didn't line up. Even when I tried imagining them facing forward, I still couldn't get the horn placement right.

Edit: I just realized with the change in horn placement, it feels like it actually gives them the more menacing-ish vibe I wanted. Reminds me of buffalos or bulls, and it fits. You unintentionally also just helped me make more lore for them Rebekah :D thank you!
Altho even while I like my OC, they're one I want to kinda always just do stupid stuff with. I love him alot but I also wanna just randomly throw em off a pile of snow lol.

I don't think that 19:18 is supposed to have ears because the character has a gem and might be a Steven Universe OC. I personally feel like there should be a little bit more going on at the top part of her design, maybe a small sweater of some sort or bigger sleeves
Came here to say this! The character does look like a gemsona of some sort. I think the hair critique was accurate, but gems don't have ears 😅 I agree that the design could use some more interesting elements, like maybe some jewelry or a headpiece?
Agreed! To follow on the jewellery thought, a little heart or diamond shaped necklace or choker type of thing could be cute to break up the solid white of the shirt maybe. Or another little ribbon or bow, which could be around the neck or in the hair, to carry through the wraps on the legs to the top half of the design! I think any or all of those could really fit her vibe ^^
Yes she’s a Steven universe character! She is not meant to have ears, I created her purposefully like that ^^

I just want to say it's so nice to see how respectful you go about critiquing art. I understand that the 'roasting art' is currently a trend but the way you do it is much more helpful in my opinion.
These critiques are very helpful but I feel like 8:21 the mouth being shifted made the face off since it didn’t look like it was directly under the nose

thanks for the advice on the whole double eyelid shenanigans I do (even though honestly that's NOT the thing that felt off about it to me probably cuz I've done it for so long but yeah)
I probably should've worded it better by saying that it was meant to be more like the creases of the eyes (??) just like really high up, like you can see that my art does actually have normal eyelids but then it has the whole thingamajig crease long eyelid shenanigans going on on the forehead

1. NOSE-CHAN!!!
Ik that drawing noses is hard but you didn't have to give them a stickman nose! Maybe just draw the holes and then add a bunch of blush lines till you can't almost see em anymore lol. Or add a sticker ontop of it lol.
2. God dammit you could cut paper with that chin

3. She be breathing real good with that neck eh?
The neck looks a bit too thick.
4. A personal preference but please remove the double eyelid. It makes her look like allmight!!!

i like that you gave good critiques focusing on proportions or background elements rather than changing the artist's style to fit your own. I've seen other art youtubers critique people's art by completely changing it to something more their style, but you did it right 👍

In regards to shading, something that I learned from the artist Temi Danso is that a lot of issues with shading looking flat or unfinished can just be solved by adding a little more TLC to the artwork. Adding deeper and darker shading, and making more prominent highlights, actually helps a lot, even if it takes a long time to actually finish. (And its actually possible to make highlights for a moody piece without taking away from the mood, it's mostly just choosing the right colours. Something something colour theory. Detailed shading is super finnicky in my experience but it is *worth it* in the end.)
Video idea! (For drawing whatever the heck I want or TikTok art/ art challenges videos maybe) draw one of your characters in the “hairstyles meme” art template! It’s kind of similar to the 6 art styles template (or however many it was) but in this one you draw ur oc in different hairstyles! ✨

I would suggest looking at Drag makeup for reference. It can help seeing different versions and ways to stylize

I love the idea of the last character with the heart! The hair does need some work but, it's definitely on the right path. The colors are close in color hues, I kept looking at the shirt. Maybe make the white a tab more blue or something. The pink probably should be a little dark but, I love color choices overall! ❤
at 8:32 the straightened mouth doesn't look quite right. Considering the position of the eyes and nose, the mouth is now too perfectly centered from the viewer's POV, and not following the angle of the other features which are in 3/4 view

20:14 I know what you mean about no ears and I noticed this was a gem from Steven universe and gems don’t have ears. Most the time hair covers them like amethyst garnet and even pearl but even characters like spinel who have no hair covering up where the ear would go don’t have ears

20:00 One quick thing that’s not too important but I believe that’s a spinel from Steven Universe and the Gems don’t have ears. The solution would probably be to style the hair a bit differently if it looks too weird though. That’s all! Have an nice day!
