With AI becoming more and more common in the art community, I think artists, especially younger artists, need to realize the value of their own unique styles and abilities. You said it so nicely. I try to keep up with the development of later builds of various AI programs, and think that AI is an excellent tool, and I think that especially people are overlooking that there are AI programs that have switched to using stock imagery, Like I know that's the case with I believe the latest stable diffusion build and some of the later builds of Midjourney are made primarily of stock photos from royalty free Stock photo sites such as Shutter Stock, but another thing that people don't take into consideration is that in general, there's people who seem to think that AI is going to replace artists, and that it's possible to somehow steal a style, which is stupid, and kinda narcissistic sounding, you can't have agency of something over something like art style, especially given that I've seen artists who don't know each other have similar art styles, also people are always going to value artists made by people more.
It’s very mature how you handled the AI experience! I’ve had a case where even though I submitted all my art proof and layers, the moderators of a discord art server still wouldn’t let me in cos they said my art looked like AI art style ^^” I didn’t know how to react or if I should be happy or not but AI ‘style’ is still inspired by real artists
1:34 for this piece they are drawing a character from chainsaw man and her character has spirals in the eyes so I don’t think you should have taken that out because it’s a very character defining feature. (Also if you do this again how could I enter)❤
i like how you don't change the style like other artists do. you improve it but still keep it stylized and don't just do the "you're style is wrong" thing a lot of people do

I have a tip I use for lighting, because I also have a struggle with lighting... I usually draw a circle in the side where the light is coming from, like an imaginary sun, and keep in mind to draw light on the side where it comes from, and shades on the opposite side

I love how you give actual advice and tips to help the artist. Most art tubers I see on youtube like to make fun of the art piece and lean towards being harsh rather than being a bit nicer to the artist and giving actual tips. I think some art tubers forget that these artists might be young and are still learning there ways. I just love how kind you are and gentle with the way you give advice.

I actually think you handled the AI situation very well and understanding. I like to pop my pieces in AI to see if theres any element it adds I would like to add myself. I honestly think there is nothing 100% wrong with using Ai, just becomes an issue when you try to pass it off as yours. I'm just one of those people that finds hating something like that with every fiber of my being exhausting , I got work and life to do that already, long as the person is really just using ai for inspiration or ideas I really see no issue. Over all I think you handled the situation very maturely and gave the person some sound advice.
@@blulsixl1004 I'm honestly not even that bothered about that because I generally use photos that aren't for any of my larger projects or experimental art regardless. I guess I just really don't have that mentality of "all my work can't be shared/ used" I haven't even found my true final style yet either and I've been drawing a long time, I guess that's why I'm really not too bothered or afraid of that? Ai is Ai and regardless if it did take elements of my style, it would be mashing it together with other elements as well. I don't condone those people who made ai specifically to copy other's styles though, that was clearly done out of malicious intent. I mostly use an app that generates anime like pictures anyway which is kind of my style but not truly because I am a gothic artist as well, it's still not a set mix of the two as i still got a lot to learn and grow.

I think on the second one, the shoulder had blush, not shading! It was the same color as the blush on the cheeks and the only part soft, the rest of the shading was sharp
When I add finishing touches/affects I tend to erase lightly around high detail areas like the face or hands or anything meticulous so you can get the affect without making your art hard to look at

With the amount of comments on this video and how late I am, I doubt you’ll see this, Bekah, but a thought came to me that you could do a video/series of something along the lines of “critiquing your character designs”!! I can totally see it helping both the people who submitted the characters as well as the people watching, just like this “critiquing your art” series! It could be similar to this one, except instead of critiquing proportions and lighting and such, it would be the designs themselves? If that makes sense. Might be a bad idea but I wanted to throw this out there just in case!!

For the person being lit by the moon maybe they could put a reflection of the moon in their eyes. It would be stylized and not realistic but I think having a bit of moon in their eyes would be cool, also maybe cooler light
I always draw mouths so low to the face but it’s more that I’m like averse to giving proper amounts of chin. I think part of it is that my rendering style is very flat and I don’t think abt the three dimensionality of the lips and chin until I draw a side profile
Just a thought, the person that wanted help with the background maybe added all that excess space so the character and moon would be on 2 of the 4 attention points of art. Just a possible reason why they had so much space.
I love your videos they are truly inspiration for me and help learn although i'm not a good artist it helps me to keep trying and will get better at it eventually and learn to avoid using A.I for my art. ❤

I love how you help with art. Especially the part about showing and character in perspective. I was wondering could you still use AI when you’re in a drawing slump? Sometimes I use it to come up with ideas.

For the person being lit by the moon maybe they could put a reflection of the moon in their eyes. It would be stylized and not realistic but I think having a bit of moon in their eyes would be cool, also maybe cooler light

I always draw mouths so low to the face but it’s more that I’m like averse to giving proper amounts of chin. I think part of it is that my rendering style is very flat and I don’t think abt the three dimensionality of the lips and chin until I draw a side profile
Just a thought, the person that wanted help with the background maybe added all that excess space so the character and moon would be on 2 of the 4 attention points of art. Just a possible reason why they had so much space.
