    Miyavi is right, everyone suffers in conflicts and actually no one is our enemy. Despite the country or the race, we all have the same goal, have a happy life with our family and friends. Our only and real enemies are our own pride and selfishness, and those are the enemies that we really need to destroy.

      My dad fought the Japanese in WWll. Do some research, they were brutal. As bad if not worse than Hitler. That is in the past and the world has moved on but let's not make light of the horrific way Americans were treated by the Japanese.

    Imagine being Jack and playing the role of Louie Zamperini. Must be such an amazing thing to experience. Embodying all those tough scenes but realising where he is acting in a movie, these were all real scenes for Louie. What a legend. RIP.

    I feel so grateful to live in the era we are living in right now. We have enough to drink, to eat, we have electronic devices, connections to the whole world... I live in Austria, the country where Hitler was born and raised...and I am so thankful that two generations later, everyone can live their own lives happily again and are not bound by war. It's amazing what our ancestor managed to achieve, building up the cities again so the next generations can live comfortably.

    I'm 20 years old and I met Miyavi in a music channel when I was 11 with his song "survive" I fell in love with him immediately. I stopped listening his music with the years but I always kept him in my heart as one of the first artist I've ever loved and when I saw this movie the first time and saw him there when I was like 16, 2 years after the movie came out not knowing he was going to be in the movie, I felt so proud and happy to see him again and in this amazing way. I hope he keep growing up un his career and I would love to know more about him

  • @YugeYun
    @YugeYun 9 ปีที่แล้ว +74

    I felt very passionately after this movie, that we are all human beings. In the end, divisions between nationalities are artificial. I hoped so bad that the Bird and Louis would have come together to forgive each other. In real life too. Too bad it never happened.

    • @lorenatondag1912
      @lorenatondag1912 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      yes they were... as Louis said that there's complete healing once you "forgive "

    • @laurenclayton8659
      @laurenclayton8659 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      You need to read the book. Louis forgave The Bird. Wrote him a letter and attempted to meet with him but The Bird backed out of the meeting. The day Louis became a Christian he never had another nightmare about The Bird. That part was left out of the movie.

    This interview is really great, but can you credit him as Miyavi as well? Takamasa Ishihara is his legal birth name but he doesn't really use it for his music or acting. As far as I know, he's been doing all of his promotion as Miyavi.

    • @teatime4godzilla
      @teatime4godzilla 10 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      I've gotta say, I think this is my favorite Unbroken interview yet. Loved the special attention paid to Miyavi and scenes of the Bird that were cut in. Miyavi seemed really comfortable here compared to other interviews, and I don't know whether to credit that to Rizzo as an interviewer or to Miyavi getting used to the press junket and expressing himself fluently in English.
      Miyavi is pretty much my second-language role model. I wish I could speak as intelligently in English (my native language) as he can, much less my second language.

    I have won a few national titles only at junior level at my chosen sport but i can safely say i am nothing in comparison to Louis Zamperelli or ever will be.i do try to live my life as a humble man,it isnt always easy with lifes ups and downs and with my chosen career but i wouldnt have it any another way.living as ego free,humble,honest and mentally strong is what i strive to do but i would only be a waiter at Louis Zamperellis table.the dignity, humility and graciousness despite enduring what can only be described as evil, wanton,disgusting unmerciful cruelty is something to behold.his story is uplifting,highly inspirational and a joy to watch.Rest softly Mr Zamperelli

    Das Interview sieht dir gar nicht ähnlich. Haha
    Ich kenn Miyavi schon seit 6 Jahren und habe ihn schon ein paar mal live gesehen. Ich fand ihn immer schön sympathisch und freue mich auf den Film.
    Aber echt krass wie gut sein Englisch mittlerweile ist.

    Takamasa Ishihara wirkt auf mich wie ein richtiger Feingeist im Vergleich zu Jack O´Connell. ^^

      Miyavi (so sein Künstlername) ist ein herzensguter Mensch und Artist. Die Art und Weise wie er mit seinen Fans umgeht und wie er sich auf der Bühne gibt ist unglaublich. :3 Er hat immer eine positive Ausstrahlung und versucht diese auch weiter zu geben und Kulturen miteinander zu verbinden. Vielleicht ist das auch einfach nur meine subjektive Meinung weil ich ihn jetzt seit über 7 Jahren "kenne". ;)

    Ishimari certainly didn't have any problems playing his sadistic part in the movie! His hatred and sadistic personality was way too REAL!
    He made Hitler seem like an angel, maybe from Hell but yet still an angel.

    Jack O´Connell has big ears! He seems really humble, as he aspires to be. I hope he is successful.
    Miyavi has issues too, "During the filming(!), I mean during the war, he was *not* (!) unwilling to let go of Louie. "
