    We have been visiting St. John every summer since 1995 and it never disappoints except for the amount to people that have now discovered it, thanks Kenny Chesney 😡. Maho use to be my all-time favorite beach Bach in the day but Now it’s overrun by people because the open air taxis now take people to this beach and they have built infrastructure there which is a shame. There are a couple other beaches I put above your #1 for their sheer beauty and tranquility, but keeping my mouth shut.

      Lots of beauiful beaches on that island. Probably one of the single densest collection of top-notch beaches in one place in the world...

      Go to Maho in the morning way less people

    Cinnamon Bay should certainly be on this list.

      I have to agree with this comment! Cinnamon Bay was stunning! Trunk bay was amazing too! I can’t wait to go back!

    Love them all but for me number one is Francis bay... is the biggest beach of all and the times I went I only saw 3 to 5 ppl on the entire beach

    • @JfCLA
      @JfCLA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're killing me! I didn't realize how close we were to Francis until it was too late to explore it! It's first on my list next time, for sure.

    I am a fishery biologist and used to work on St John...some of the best beaches/ areas no one ever goes to are Rendezvous Bay, Haulover has great reefs, Fish Bay, and a lil beach on the northeast side of the island west of Newfoundland Bay, we named No Name Bay because it has no name, the snorkeling is great here but currents push trash from the BVI to it's shore. Gems off the beaten path 👍

    • @JfCLA

      Holy smokes - that's great info! I will be sure to seek those out next time I'm on the island - thanks!

    St John's beaches are amazing, hope to go back some day. Trunk bay was the best. Saw a nurse shark at Cinnamon bay.

    So what was the deal with Hawksnest? LOL. great video by the way. Sub and Like added.

    • @JfCLA
      @JfCLA  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The "personal" reason was that Trunk can't be anything but #1, because I had that poster on my bedroom wall as a teenager...Hawksnest just can't compete with that image - lol! Although, the snorkeling is better at HN

    Honeymoon was great before the bar and all the rental stuff ruined it's quite natural location and Irma destroyed Solomon next door. Honeymoon is the only one of your top five that is in my St. John top 5 :)... But after 2020 and all the new stuff, it's slipping fast.

    • @JfCLA
      @JfCLA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for the visit :) Not Hawksnest or Jumbie? I have to say, the snorkeling at both those beaches was world class. Not often you see a shark and a 5-ft Eagle ray in the same snorkel!

    • @JfCLA
      @JfCLA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, I have so many more places I have to go. This was my first trip, and the sheer number of fantastic beaches is mind-blowing! I still have to get to the other end of the island. I thought about putting Henley Cay in there, as the water out there is so crystal-clear.

    • @erichearduga
      @erichearduga 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JfCLA I'm not knocking those beaches, been going to St. John for 20 years. Love all the beaches... Just like the lower key beaches, which Honeymoon used to be when it was just the beach and crabs :). Snorkeling wise I like North Haulover, Mary Point (at Francis), the Channels at Salt Pond/Blue Cobblestone, Watermelon, Europa Point (was good haven't been since Irma)... I still need to hit Henley Cay.

      Eric Heard I didn’t see much at Waterlemon, and I’m thinking I missed the spot. Where exactly is the really good snorkeling there? I went out to the cay, and went a good portion of the way around it. I didn’t complete a full circle (We had some issues we were dealing with - kid stepped on an urchin), and I’m thinking the back side must be the spot - yes?

    • @erichearduga

    • @JfCLA

      Both fantastic choices! We like Hawksnest for the number of fish, and Jumbie for the secluded, quiet feel - plus 2 sharks there!

    I am really interested in traveling here! I am a little hesitant as a young women to come because I have heard a lot of conflicting views as to if its safe or not. Im not looking for night life or clubs, but I would like to do less "touristy" adventures and go off path. Your opinion?

    • @JfCLA
      @JfCLA  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can't imagine any problem for a single woman traveler in St. John. It's too small to get in to trouble - lol! Now, I am a non-drinking person, so I don't find myself out at 2am and in trouble, so that is my perspective. But St. John didn't have any crazy nightlife I could see, and the beaches were all close and quiet with friendly locals ready to give advice. I spent a day on St. Thomas and it seemed to have a different vibe, but this island is perfect!

    • @madisynh5359
      @madisynh5359 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JfCLA Thanks so much for the reply! I don't drink either so hopefully that helps to avoid trouble, but great to hear that it seems pretty safe!

      Madisyn H Yeah, I was thinking about it after I responded, and at the beaches, it was almost all families and small groups- girl friends and people like that. Very few if any groups of guys cruising. Local families, people like that.

      My family and I have visited St. John countless times, we go every summer. One of the main reasons for this is its safety. Never have we experience anything negative or felt unsafe at any time. It's for this reason and its unparalleled beauty that we return year after year. Lots of great things to do if you seek them out. Hiking trails, ruins, snorkeling, boat outings, horse. Rides, etc..
