Dr. Wolff, thank you for doing these lectures and making yourself available to us. Listening to your lectures, Q&As and weekly videos have helped me understand what is going on in the world around me. It has pulled me completely out of the conspiracy theory thought and has opened my eyes to the real truth, that is obfuscated by the normal day to day conversations and American capitalist propaganda. I cannot thank you enough for opening my eyes and mind.

Such a great comment. I know a great deal of folks who have such anger at the system but invest so much energy in conspiracies about all sorts of wild explanations when in reality , it's not all that complicated when you learn about the inner workings of capitalism and its monopolistic and exploitative tendencies.

Thanks TH-cam and internet . I don't have kind of stuff a middle class do have domestically but a curiously mind and vacant time to watch the stuff and like / dislike what i find necessary for my class and nation as a whole . Socialism = common prosperity, shared prosperity, and poverty alleviation. China has been a Confucian society for thousands of years. This is the foundation to contribute the world socialism, peaceful coexistence, and common prosperity among countries.

    • @limitisillusion7
      @limitisillusion7 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

Socialism = collectivism. It's worth noting that communism and capitalism can both be individualistic and collectivistic, therefore, socialism isn't mutually exclusive with capitalism _or_ communism. Collectivistic capitalism is characterized by an organized working class who are ready to build unions, worker cooperatives, boycotts, and strikes in a moment's notice. Collectivistic communism is characterized by an organized working class who are ready to elect better representatives in a moment's notice, in order to write better economic policy. For all intents and purposes, there is no difference between collectivistic capitalism and collectivistic communism. Strong unions (free-market capitalism) and good economic policy (communism) are just two different ways for the working class to appropriately distribute the means of production.
On the other hand, individualistic capitalism is characterized by a divided working class and a powerful ruling class. That ruling class will often infiltrate the government and create a state-corporate merger. Individualistic communism is characterized by an authoritarian government that controls the means of production to benefit themselves, because the working class was too divided to elect better representatives. Again, for all intents and purposes, there is no difference between individualistic capitalism and individualistic communism. A working class who is unwilling or unable to organize to build strong unions or to elect better representatives will be ruled by the oligarchs all the same. Oligarchy, kleptocracy, corporatocracy, and plutocracy are all effectively the same thing, and they can operate within a capitalistic or communistic economy _if_ the working class is divided.
The compartmentalization of government control of the economy and free-market control of the economy are just two different ways to view the control over the distribution of resources. The working class either controls the distribution of the means of production by democratizing the workplace, by electing people to write good economic policy, or they fail to do either. Which strategy they choose is irrelevant the outcome, and in fact, they can do a little bit of both. The means of production are either controlled and distributed by and for a small few or by and for the masses. It's not capitalism vs socialism, it's collectivism vs individualism. United we stand, divided we fall.

This is what the Western World Diaspora (Mentally) is struggling with in foreseeing a Shifting Global consensus.
The idea/reconciliation provocations you imparted onto us all is what we, collectively, refuse to acknowledge we shy away from...

Why are there sanctions imposed by the Us on the chinese imported EV's of 100% tariffs, while no sanctions or tariffs on commodities like gold, silver, cobalt, lithium from african countries?Simple answer is that the mines are exploited by Anglo- american and De Beers corporations..! Brics+ will start sanctioning the Us and Eu elite by trading with the Brics+ countries. The West will therefore sanctioning themselves. Goodbye western unipolar hegemony.

The issue, from my perspective, is not primarily the decline of the American empire, but rather the enduring influence of the capitalist system. This system, with its promise of happiness through material wealth accessible to the masses, serves as the perfect catalyst for billions of individuals driven by ego and 'its' longing for 'more.' The allure of the capitalist dream remains potent among the general population, regardless of whether American influence continues to propel it or not.

"There are few things more dangerous than a wounded animal". Considering the acknowledged decline of America's stature on the world stage, while also taking in to account its perennially-demonstrated bellicose nature since the end of WWII, I have become more fearful of my own country than anything else! Look no further than Ukraine or Gaza! The lunacy of those ventures and the hypocrisy that they reveal make this old man feel disillusioned, betrayed and and quite anxious for young people everywhere.

As a traveling union electrician, I travelled around quite a bit. I'm from NYC. Marine in the 70's. But, when I pulled into the union hall parking lot at a Detroit, Mi. location, I found myself too frightened to leave my vehicle, the neighborhood was that rough. They were no paragon of virtue in the hall, either. Other halls in other locales were like Arlington national cemetery in comparison. Some kept fairness paramount. That makes all the difference.

I agree and support the views of the professor Wolff presented in this short factual/ historical summary.
For an in depth/more detailed understanding of the history and developments of the American Empire,
I recommend the books by prof. Chalmers Johnson (died in 2010 at the age of 79) who arrived at/ came up with the same views but much earlier, over 20 years ago...
Prof. Johnson's book, the "Blowback, The costs and consequences of the American Empire " speculated that there were numerous groups seeking revenge on the US guilty of military interventions around the world since the II World War.
Essentially, the book predicted the terrorist's attack on September 11, 2001 and it was published a few months before it occurred (it elevated prof. Johnson from a relative obscurity to position of a leading historian of the American Empire.)

I live in Saskatchewan where a cooperative is prevalent but it is not a coop in any shape of the word. They put competitors out of business and if they don't make a profit they leave the community without a grocery store. They promise to pay a dividend and after ten years as a member I never received a cent in patronage refund. I guess I didn't spend enough to merit a cheque. They give cooperatives a bad name. This is a major enterprise, not a cooperative.

Recommended reading: "Endless Enemies," by Jonathan Kwitny (1984). This book provides the logic behind U.S. military and covert interventions around the world since the Second World II. The architects of these imperialistic undertakings were John Foster Dulles and Allan Dulles and others at the top of the CIA in league with U.S. corporations pressing for intervention to protect the monopolistic resource extraction interests in less developed countries.

Guys, I had a complete mental breakdown over Palestine. First, I joined a student communist party meeting. Next thing I know, they're taking a dominant role in organizing an encampment at my university. My mental health was in such a frenzy that I thought "I have to at least go and check it out", and it was the most beautiful thing in the world... A solemn gathering of people in solidarity, sharing a quiet moment together.
Fast foward to that night, I'm getting messages from the group on my phone as the police come in with riot gear and tear gas.
A month later I had a complete detatchment from reality as I felt like in some instantaneous way I understood the true face of evil.
Now, I realized I have to spend the rest of my life studying philosophy and possibly psychology to prove it. The more I think back to that moment, the more I realized I understand exactly what is going on and can talk and write about it. I'm planning on writing a book soon primarily about my experiences with mental health and how they have cultivated my thoughts and experiences. I'm going to call it: Confessions of a Failed Millenial!
Thank you Dr. Wolff for inspiring me.
