    Cutting the white wire did not work for me but replacing that silver box WORKED!!!I I want to thank you so much to the person that posting the item # for the radio transmitter and telling us to go to eBay. I bought The transmitter for $70 I paid $30 to install and Chevy dealership charged me $125 to unlock my radio. I am so happy to have my radio working along with my A/C. At the end of my misery these issue was affecting lots of electrical parts in my car. Thank you so much🙋🏻

    I understand this does not work in all cases but it worked for me. Cut the wire and reset the computer a week ago and it’s working perfectly. If it didn’t I was just gonna buy a dash kit and put an aftermarket radio in it since an oem one along with a dealership unlocking it is a similar cost. Thanks for the video this is definitely worth trying as a first course of action. Saved me hundreds.

    This is very lame that this is happening to so may people. Chevy needs to step up and fix this for people without charge. I am going through the same issue as well. Except I had my AC fixed which cost $1,300.00 then within a week my stereo started cutting out and powering on and off, 20 times or more within 30 minutes of driving. I am contacting the service manager at Chevy today to see what can be done.

But after like a couple min or so it’ll start up ready to go. But after awhile of driving It’ll cut out and not be as loud as before. Then when I turn off the car and put it into accessory it cuts out immediately. Thoughts?

    Hello, can you tell me exactly what this white wire controls? I saw where someone said it is a communication wire for gm or northstar. Did they mean Onstar? I have the Onstar and XM radio and want to make sure it doesn’t affect that. My dealer said the diagnostic code showed an antenna fault, but I don’t think that is it. They said I would have to replace that first at $450 and if that didn’t fix it, then replace the radio at $800

    it has nothing to do with the wire. it is a programming issue, you will have to bring it to a GM dealer and get it reprogrammed. i've had this problem when i bought my car and got the whole radio replaced and then after 2-3 years it started the same problem again. i cut the wire finally and it doesn't do it as often, but whenever i slide on ice or my tires slide and the traction control comes on then the radio cuts out. the only fix is to either keep replacing the radio every so often or do what i'm gonna do and just get a 6th gen soon.

  • @grandillusion4258
    @grandillusion4258 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ummmm..... that IS NOT the solution. That little ole wire is the LAN communications between the radio, the control head, and a dozen other modules on the network. You're not going to find the problem without an oscilloscope, a multimeter and a schematic. Something is collapsing the CANBUS. Once you can see the CAN Signals on a scope, you can start unplugging modules, till the CAN Signal becomes active again. Usually its something as simple as a corroded connector contact but, even if its a bad module, most of the modules are specific to the VIN number and a replacement would need to be programmed. Instead, invest in a soldering iron, open the module, and fix the defective solder joint or component yourself. With a little electronics know how you can save thousands of dollars and help out your family and friends. I've spent 20 years in the GM/Delphi/Mahle Advanced Systems R&D Group and see this type of approach used all the time by guys that don't understand network communications on vehicles. Best wishes.

  • @kjdcomp1
    @kjdcomp1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vg South Oh that sucks, I just bought one on ebay for 99$. I looked at the number on the bottom left of the back of the radio by the serial # and googled it. This the one I got new but its not available anymore. I am waiting for it to come in this week, my technician said the a/c knob wasnt working right when they tested it. He snipped off the white wire on the 18th prong going into the radio which is one of 2 power sources to the faceplate and it fixed it a little. I think its a problem with too much power going into the radio, it burns it out. Ill see when i install the new one this week here: m.ebay.com/itm/10-12-all-Chevy-Camaro-13-15-LS-Z28-Radio-Control-Panel-Heater-A-C-Unit-22737615-/362314087709?txnId=942151921023#vi__app-cvip-panel
