Making / Throwing a Giant Pottery Easter Egg on the wheel

- My first attempt at making a clay pottery egg on the wheel.
This is for a local Easter Egg hunt which is being held in Ingleton from March 29th.
It's not the easiest of shapes to make and closing it in is the tricky bit.
Anyway not bad for a first attempt.

It took me a couple of years before I could make anything that was even remotely decent, and then for some reason after all the struggling you can throw better.
20 years on and I'll admit I'm still learning new things, and you just keep on improving.
Just stick at it,it'll come eventually.

I have to admit, me too..
it's calming to slowly see the final shape rise up ,on one hand (literally!^^), but on the other hand I am still stunned how simple something so delicate is created...
Must be a beautiful craft.
I know it looks so simple for something so beautiful I cant wait to try it iut myself lol

I took a pottery class at my school and I can say this, it's not soothing until you get good
You have to have a lot of patience and also, if the bowl or whatever looks good, stop touching it, quit while you're ahead, which I learned the hard way
Also using smaller ammounts of clay is much easier for a beginner

Wow, I've been watching your videos for quite a few days now on making/throwing different pots on the wheel, and being that I am in a Ceramics 1 class this semester... you make this look SO easy. It is incredibly difficult for me to even make a simple cylinder! It is amazing watching you do what you do. And if you dont mind me asking, how many years have you been doing pottery? And what kind of clay do you use? (We use earthenware at my school =) )
