  • Small model boat with windmill driving a propeller direct. Pulling directly against the wind, the line that you see is the only thing preventing it from disappearing upwind. It's using the power of the wind to overcome the wind.

It appears that the string is the only thing allowing this craft to hold it's position. Otherwise, it would just blow away downwind because the wind force on the rotor is much greater than any thrust generated by the prop. How about a video showing it actually moving forward without the aid of a string?

    Hi worsley:
I like a lot your rc boats. Congratulation !
But i can't understand if this boat can work against wind.
    Arrivederci

The boat can work against the wind because the power of the windmill is more than the drag of the wind. There is a propeller under the water at the front of the boat - the pull of the propeller is more than the drag of the windmill. The wind power is driving the boat against the wind!
I can give you the design, please contact me on my website.

I'm sorry my friend, you've got it the wrong way round. Look closely! You should be able to see the woollen thread blowing in the wind. The string is the only thing preventing it to blowing upwind!
If you check my channel I have another video of it, which may convince you.
