      ***** ehhh I don't know about that. Nobody really knows what they were 15 years ago because they pretty much started the whole screamo/hardcore/punk thing. They definitely don't have the same thrashy punk sound anymore. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet was hardcore, Waking the Fallen was just really melodic and progressive metalcore, City of Evil was hard rock with many classic metal vibes to it, only God knows wtf the white album was, nightmare was more metal than anything but there was some metalcore in there, and HTTK was definitely heavy metal. But, those are just my opinions.

      @superboyrecordings 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      yeah seriously. soooo many people would have never really heard this type of music and have been so attracted to it. they made metal attractive again for a long long time. it was unique but they didn't even NEED to be unique like a korn or a slipknot or something. they could make songs like hail to the king or nightmare or afterlife or something that can be pretty generic but still just kills because of their group chemistry. THE metal band of the 2000's. and the 2010's too kinda. it needs a refresher on their level.

      Ya they don't play anything other than Ch.4 and Unholy Confessions from that album anymore. It pisses me off cause A7X is one of my favorite bands, but they only play the greatest hits at every show anymore.

    • @TomWhaley621
      @TomWhaley621 9 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Dustin Nelson Oh I know. Their setlists have been boring as fuck for the last few years. It's all singles and hits. Nothing in the set left for the real fans, unless you want to listen to "Critical Acclaim" and "Welcome to the Family" a dozen more times hoping that you might catch a show where they play "Second Heartbeat" or "Eternal Rest" or anything interesting at all... How do these guys go up night after night and still have fun playing "Afterlife" "Nightmare" and "Buried Alive." Bands would kill to have their discography, and Avenged lets it go to waste. They stopped catering to the die-hards when they started to become an arena band. They changed the setlist up every single night on the "City of Evil" tours. The self-titled tour was the start of the strict "one setlist per tour" routine, but even then they managed to sneak in "Remenissions" and "I Won't See You Tonight, Part 1." "Nightmare" on has been a snooze. I've been seeing this band live for over a decade now, and 30 something shows later, I decided to skip my first one last year (Mayhem Fest) because I couldn't honestly sit through that setlist again. They cater to fairweather radio fans only, and it's a shame. They really need a small club tour with an exciting setlist to wake them up. Watch a live video from 2014 and watch one from 2004. They're complete statues on stage now.

      Dustin Nelson haha yeah, it's a shame. Even the audience and atmosphere at the shows has completely changed over the last few years. It's just weirdly not as fun as it used to be. Kids in camo hats wearing "Welcome to the Family" shirts and cheering during "Nightmare," and then standing completely still during "Second Heartbeat." It just doesn't feel like Avenged Sevenfold anymore.

    • @TomWhaley621
      @TomWhaley621 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** Yeah! That was a great touring year for them! They had tons of energy, had some pretty cool setlist additions, like "Brompton Cocktail" and "Remenissions." Actually, "Remenissions" was 2007... Same touring cycle though haha

    They touched on something in this I've come to regard as an inescapable truth of the universe. One on the scale of Newton's laws of gravity, or that all life must end- The fact that Avenged Sevenfold fans are the best fans in music. It's a postulation that is undeniable. In my lifetime I've seen a lot of wildly popular bands come along with their huge fanbases-Metallica, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Tool, etc.-but there is nothing like an Avenged Sevenfold fan. The passion we have for this band just means so much more to us than it does to anyone else. The shared devotion between band and fans alike is valued equally, and is reciprocated by both parties. I don't know if it's because the overall Rock/Metal genre is unfortunately becoming a fossil these days and A7X is now the last great American giant carrying the banner for the entire genre, or what the extra incentive is within this unique dynamic. But the intensity within an Avenged fan is a phenomena on a whole 'nother level comparatively. It's inexplicable.
    Yes, music itself is universally loved by humans everywhere, but for some reason it's just loved and valued a little more within the heart of an Avenged fan. There's nothing else quite like it in music nowadays. It truly is a rare phenomenon that only comes along once in a generation. Treasure and appreciate it while you still can folks- because sadly, we may never see it happen again.

      @Britton_Thompson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Baris Gurel Dude, I don't even know who the hell Opeth is, or any of those other obscure bands no one gives a damn about. Who in the hell cares about Norwegian and Danish metal? (Also, are you really going to say that you consider all rock bands who do drugs are automatically shitty bands? There'd be no one left to listen to if you subscribe to that theory) ....
      You obviously didn't pay attention to this video because if you had, you'd have seen the dedication and intensity of A7X fans way before any "mainstream success" was ever achieved. Besides, do you realize how illogical your argument is? Of course Avenged Sevenfold's fanbase swelled with their mainstream exposure and success within the industry. That's because every successful musician/band gains more fans that way! The better you are, the more fans you're going to attract. That's how it works- it's common sense. No band starts off as a nightclub circuit act with millions of followers worldwide on day 1.

      Britton Thompson How on earth is it an undeniable fact? Please show me the official chart that shows how great the fans of all the bands in the world are. I love A7X, but it's ridiculous to claim that they objectively have the best fanbase. Also, I don't see why it matters how great their fanbase is. I'd rather a band be incredible and have 3 half-fans than be horrendous and have 3.6 billion die-hard fans.

      Dude, I agree wholly with you until you called Opeth an obscure band that nobody cares about. I love me some Avenged, but putting out statements like "Who in the hell cares about Norwegian and Danish metal?" truly turns me off. Chances are, Avenged are huge fans of Scandinavian metal, I'd bet my entire life savings on it. Aside from that, I do agree Avenged fans are truly a commendably dedicated bunch. Rock on!

    I've seen the band progress into something amazing. And recently, I started watching all of the behind the scenes footage on TH-cam, and I have to say you guys are my inspiration in its entirety!
    I truly believe that you guys are the "Metallica" of my generation, because in 20 years I will be jamming your songs with my daughter's saying, "This was daddy's JAM when I was your age!"
    Zack and Syn, you are both my fav guitarists and my idols! Keep shredding, keep doing what you guys do best, and stay together as long as the tread hits the pavement! I love you guys, every album, and every moment you have been in my life!

    Jimmy's monstrous drumming makes WTF a great album. And knowing he did all of it in one take since they didn't have enough money to record it properly with high tech etc and all only makes it crazier. It had punk, rock, metal and all kinds of complex yet melodic drumming magic. A master of speeding it up and slowing it down to let the songs speak.
    He was a genius artist. Not just a drummer. A candle that burns hundred times faster than the rest.
    I was 10 when i first hear them and that was it. Jimmy made me a drummer and a writer. Channelling my pain in a positive way and really changed a huge part of my adolescent years.
    Miss you foREVer buddy. Miss you like a close friend although I live halfway across the planet from USA. It's strange but wholly beautiful.

    This was a big album for me when I first started playing guitar about 14 years ago. Recently I've been going back to older songs and re-learning them and stumbled across a bunch of Avenged stuff I used to jam with a drummer friend of mine that was a ton of fun. Playing them brings back great memories from a way better time in my life. Thanks to this band for all the great memories

    Read:
    My first song, heard by A7X was in February 3, 2009 When I was 5. It was Nightmare. My friend, Justin, showed it to me. These were his EXACT words: "You should hear this. This is my favorite band" I listened to it, I go home, remembering the name of the Band. I never listened to them, because I forgot the name of the song. I go back to Justin's house, We played the Wii (not a fan) then, I asked "What was the name of that song, yesterday?" He said: "Um....Nightmare." I'm like "Thank you, so much!!!!" So, that's when I started listening to A7X, on February 3, 2009.
    You're probably saying: "Well, I think he's lying, because he's only 10! Ten year old's don't listen to Heavy Metal & they can't spell that good!' Well, you don't have to believe me, but it's true. You can go ahead & think: "He's a Pedophile! Keep away! Block him! Ect, Ect." Yeah, yeah. Blah-Blah. O.K....well, I'm just a 10 year old who has an interest in Avenged Sevenfold. :D
    See ya!

    I used to question why old metal heads used to get angry when one of the big 80s bands would release a remastered classic album. My newer ears would think it sounds better, but their veteran ears would hate it. I never understood it until I heard Lamb of God's "As the Palaces Burn" remastered. I listened to it for 10 minutes before I just thought "what the hell am I listening to?" It's not even bad or awful, it just sounds bizarre. Like someone was doing a really good cover, but a cover none the less. So with that said, I'm glad this wasn't remastered.

      MrJv123jv Jesus, why would it be? Even 'Sounding the Seventh Trumpet' sounded amazing, in terms production. But Waking The Fallen sounded even better! So there was no need to remaster it, as it was pretty awesome since the release.

    Back when I was 15…20 years ago…2006-ish…I saw the video for Unholy Confession on The channel Fuse. The guitar part at the end gave me chills.
    Anyways, there was no way to ever see the video except on TV. Before social media. So I would get up at 3 am, on a school night, knowing whatever Fuse tv show was on that late, and I’d watch the Unholy Confession video. I think I finally recorded it onto a VHS tape.
    My emo self neverrrrrrrrr would’ve figured they would become such an insanely popular band.
    I kind of liked them better. I preferred Matt screaming. I just couldn’t get into the Metallica sound.
    Waking the Fallen will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart.

    I didn't become a fan of A7X until I heard one song. Nightmare, I loved how it sounded and started off, instantly hooked since that day. My buddy had the self titled album that he let me borrow and I loved that cd as well. I've been fortunate enough to seem them play twice. Both times without the rev though.

    • @Raver-1601
      @Raver-1601 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snakeyes11123 I actually started with Dear God back in 4th or 5th grade, then forgotten about them until 7th grade, somehow. During that tims, i grew tired with the overrated pop songs that sounds very shallow and repetitive. The name Avenged Sevenfold suddenly poped to my head despite only knowing them for some metal band that plays Dear God and one of the member being dead (R.I.P The Rev). Nightmare was the first song that I listened to since Dear God and i immediately got hooked to the song. Then I listened to the usuals (Afterlife, Unholy Confessions, Bat Country, Second Heartbeat, etc.)and heard Carry On in the Black Ops 2 ending and started becoming a mild fan of them. Due to being a recently pubertized confused teenager at the time, I re-grow my liking of a few pop songs, but still manage to keep my status as a mild A7X fan. It was only untik the start of the 10th grade I lost my interest at pop songs again and blasted A7X in every speaker I can find. This time, I learned the heavy shit of A7X that is the 1st album, every song in WTF oher than Unholy Confessions, Beast and the Harlot, A Little Piece of Heaven, M.I.A, etc, and for a period, I only listen to these motherfuckers before trying out other metal and rock bands. Needless to say, A7X is the only band that I can say to be my number 1 band, and the only band that I practically know every basic thing of
