I don't mind the recap as long as it is bringing new info out. The curve was announced ahead of shot and talked about extensively in media and on TH-cam. I've even seen a shooting review vid a month ago.
I bought one (its ordered) and cannot wait to take it to the range. I wanted a pistol that would be slim enough for CC when i wore tank tops & shorts. My revolver is a giveaway. You do not need a holster, so you can clip it on the inside of your jeans. Thats a plus. I also have hand strength issues and cannot handle 9mm slides or large caliber pistols. Each person needs to find their fav little friend.
I carry my Grampa's model 36. Some old dogs like new tricks. These are terrific little pistols and you can slip them on your belt, with the trigger guard on, and no one pays them any attention. Throw the box away. Think outside the building.
You missed a whole group of people who would buy this thing, and that's people like me. I want one just because it looks weird and somewhat futuristic. Would i want to carry it? No. Would it be a replacement for my M&P9? Absolutely not. Does it serve any real need? Not really. But it looks funky and i'd love to have it in my collection as a conversation piece.
I am disappointed you made your decision without having even shot the gun. I read several reviews where the writer started out wanting to hate it and ended up giving the gun a good review. But then, they took it to the range before making that conclusion. All of them agreed the Curve is a specific use or niche gun.
JDL9615 I agree whole-heartedly! Why make a 'review' on something you haven't tried? You're only just going to make an opinionated review based on opinion and no facts! But if someone is biased then even if they tried it out - it's just going to be negative. I don't like it when someone who puts their own expectations into a review, thinks that it becomes the bible of all there is to know about what they're reviewing. Just because you don't like it does not make you an expert because you ran up to a booth and put the damn thing in your hands - SMH
You know, I'd wager that the first polymer pistol probably met the same skepticism the Curve does right now. As a concept, it's not "Terrible" and Taurus kinda dropped the ball not offering the lefty version at the same time (they claim it's coming later). The barrel isn't an issue since the rifling stops at the same point on the bottom as it does at the top where the curve begins. Essentially it would work similarly to the slant-brake on an AK. PocketGunsAndGear did a shooting review of this thing already - it doesn't seem any less accurate as say, my PPK. Who'd buy it? Probably people who just want to "have it to have it" ... as a novelty - maybe a backup pistol. If one appears locally around the 300 mark, sure - why not? Toss in some Underwood .380 with the Lehigh X-treme penetrators, and you've got a decent backup pistol.
I haven't held it or shot it. I can't begin to say if it's good or bad as a piece of hardware. As an idea I think this is a solid one. There are 300 million people in this country. What percentage are hardcore gun fanatics? 1% active military (not all will be gun fanatics). Less than that are police (not all of them will be gun fanatics). You think 5% of the population are hardcore gun fanatics? I like the idea of a gun specifically designed to appeal to 95% of the country. Smaller when "holstered" is more important than smaller in hand. It just is. How many times have you drawn your EDC weapon to defend yourself? So, the majority of that time it's just taking up space on your side, right? That's where I want it as small as possible, too. Most guys who are really into cars respect and/or drool over the BMW M3 (especially those who have had a chance to operate one). That doesn't mean the Toyota Camry was a terrible idea just because it can't compete on the same tracks. I like fast cars, comfy cars, economical cars. I like cars for what they are, and I want it to be the best at what it can do. I feel the same way about firearms. It doesn't mean that all cars/firearms are equal, and there's a place for each. There are certainly garbage cars/firearms. But, I value that they're not all trying to do the same things.
I just saw a sweepstakes with this gun as the prize. Never having heard of it I came to TH-cam to check it out. No thanks, would not even want to win one. Sorry Taurus.
But, unfortunately, in 20 years the Democrats will outlaw gun ownership. But, maybe it might work out since guns may be at a premium, like they are in all countries where guns are illegal.
I like the recap format. I am trying to reserve judgment of the primary features of this gun (the curve, sights, etc), until I have shot it. I admit I am curious. Having said that, I think you nailed the target market segment and utility of this gun.
It's weird but innovative and some college kids might start carrying so I support it. I like that a gun company or two are trying to innovate and appeal to wider markets. I'll stick to older, standard guns, but I support this.
The Curve videos I've seen of guys actually shooting this model have tried with the left hand and have both been very able to shoot with it left handed without problem. I've heard there IS going to be a dedicated left hand model just through the YT grapevine, but if there's not or until that time, those with trigger time on this gun say it's more than doable for lefties.
The magazine release makes a lot of sense if the user doesn't carry a backup magazine. I wouldn't carry this as a primary for this reason but think it would make a decent backup. I could definitely see this being carried appendix while my primary in on my side.
If your a person that's cwc a 380, then I think this is a solid choice. I'm sure Taurus spent allot of money making sure it's safe and fires true. I like it getting one, as soon as they re release. Called a local vender 345 out the door. That's with laser light combo. Good job Taurus.
I got mine 3 weeks ago. I have had no issues and it shoots fine for what it is. I carry it in my pocket, and I carry my Glock on my belt. I think it's a very good last line of defense pistol. It also seems to eat any thing I shoot through it.
If this gun is built like any other Taurus gun I have shot or mostly not shot, I would stay away. My friend in Orlando owns a gun store and is about dropping them from his store as they come back, not the snub noses but the small autos do ALOT. His saying is this Taurus guns work...after they come back from the factory 2 or 3 times.
Well said.. when you made that comment about people who want a gun for the security without knowing how to use it that really hit home I have friends who really have no idea what it's all about and it upsets me. They think just owning a firearm is going to make them the toughest guy on the block, but in reality if time came to act they would be pooping in there dippey .. I guess you could say it frustrates me.
I imagine those are also the people that give credence to the anti ccw people who spout statistics saying the weapon will be turned around and used on them.
I agree with you. The moment I saw the magazine is straight I thought it was fallacy. How do they make a gun tailored for concealment bulkier than a normal... They should have got a TCP added the laser and LEDs dehorned and bent it... along with it's magazine...
One thing that struck me when looking at the shape is that this won't print like a regular gun when you're carrying it. I don't personally care about that so much; I carry a full size Glock and really just wouldn't feel comfortable with anything sub-compact in my massive paws, but maybe for women or guys with smaller hands that want to stick something on them in places where it would be useful to not give away that you're carrying and can't wear clothes conducive to holster carry, this will be good? I also think that the laser is completely with how flush it is to the gun. Seems like a pain in the ass to actuate when you're in a high stress situation. Same thing with the magazine. I'm not so worried about the lack of sights. I've put a few mags through my buddy's P229 with a silencerco suppressor that completely covered the front sight, and I really didn't notice any detrimental effects from it. Pretty much anyone else that's shot it has said the same thing. That being said, I that still required sight alignment. This doesn't, and I can see that potentially causing barrel alignment problems for anyone that doesn't train on it regularly. Speaking of the barrel, I guess you could be right about it reducing muzzle climb? I honestly have no idea. The first thing I thought was that you'd get a brighter flash in the upward direction due to it being a shorter length of travel, which might make follow up shots difficult, but you're not really aiming in the first place, so I guess it shouldn't theoretically matter. Idunno. It's weird and I wouldn't touch it, but I'm sure it'll find its niche somewhere.
good idea, committee came together to mess it up. many good insight points made, enjoy the format it shares your thoughts beyond a short shot video so keep them up! I wanted the curve, now I don't, thanks!
being left handed, thanks for early on pointing out this is a RH only dedicated pistol possibly Taurus feels they can still get a decent market share ignoring LH users that seems for what seems a style issue.. you pointed out how the Curve has gained thickness over the TCP with no gain in interior design operation. if T. had gone with a flat profile and a reversible pocket/waist band clip they could have gained a 10-14% market base w/ a truly ambidextrous pistol that still has plenty of functional curves and more thinness for concealment and non-snag draw. also, with CCW and defense weapons in general, i'm amazed that total ambidextrous functionality is is ignored both in the military (now lessening) and civilian market. what if your dominant arm is semi/fully disabled? a left hand safety/slide release (not on the curve) would be mighty handy (i can think several ways to load a mag one handed including using your mouth). silly? (an historical aside. John Browning designed the original High Power front sight to catch a boot heel or other to allow a one handed slide draw in case of being wounded). also (as with the Curve) i find it silly with all the hyperbole about self defense on the blogs and youtube that oblivious worse case scenarios are conveniently ignored arguments about the reality of civilian CQC of a controllable body placement shot from either hand w/ a hopeful follow up vs. "body stopper rounds". i.e., 380 vs 9, 10, 45 auto. realize and accept that most of the latter calibers are not controllable by anyone than a regular range dog. there seems to be a disconnect in the serious gun community that for the vast majority of defensive owners they, for the worse but you have to accept their limitations, are operating with a minimal training. bottom line if you don't carry, it's not there. too many of the big dog bloggers & YTers totally admit is the summer they are dropping a 380 into their cargo shorts pocket. this invalidates constant close carry which is what the Curve is about for RH within or close to the waist band. fess up about CWC. most of you are packing some tiype of 380 CC most of time. as a LH, i like a variety of options like you. a closing augment that is directed at the firearms industry, and those that shrug off LH shooting. my enjoyment of being a firearms owner/user has been limited by short sighted design. i can only fire about 10% of contemporary firearms within my enjoyment level. i don't have the desire to retrain (nor the disposable income for range time) to do that. Militarys are increasingly demanding full ambidextrous carry in side arms and long arms. why is this not being seen in the civilian market? considering the growth in gun purchases in the US you are being short sighted. ultimately this comes down to gun owners/buyers wanting innovation.for what majority wise a conservative group, i'm talking firearms technology, NOT POLITICS. unless we demand innovation and support it. we will live in a much boring gunning atmosphere. no offence to Eugene Stoner but how many AR variations? if he was alive and young i think he'd be kicking something far beyound the AR platform. again a system no one thought possible. copyright C. Mikkelson 2015
A gun created by non shooters for non shooters. A gun isn't built to be convenient it is built to save your life. In my experience a gun configured this way will spend most of its time in the safe. Still enjoy your content lateboyscout
I have to agree with Green Man on the coverage of SHOT. It is handy later on to be able to see several reviews on a gun you may be interested in. Keep the videos short. On rhe Curve, sights are not that big of a deal on a gun intended for defensive distances. Mainly point shooting in any case. It is also not even close to unique in that regard. I just got a Colt New Agent sans sights as well. The guy who will buy the Curve is concerned primarily about concealment and "printing" . Probably a suit-and-tie type in an office that isn't all that keen on CCW but doesn't prohibit them. I would also see it as useful if going out to dinner, etc where a deeper conceal would be difficult. Niche for sure, but I won't say it has no place. BTW, the "dumb idea" comments come off as unprofessional and more likely to offend than convey your thoughts. You've got a really cool channel, one of my favorites. I've come to expect more from you. Just my 2 cents, still a fan!
Yes, I agree. The "dumb idea" comments seems to brutally sum up the review with no professionalism. It looks more like a personal opinion than a factual based perspective. Not professional. He says it is a dumb idea but what if the weapon turns out to be effective? I believe a lot of people trashed the Glock when it first came out but it was proved effective. So yea, less personal opinion, and more facts.
I like the recaps. As for the gun: I'd never buy it, but I like that people are still trying to innovate. You never know what someone else will learn from things and apply in a practical manner. Also, keep in mind that if Glock did it, you'd see a lot more buy-in. I think Taurus should improve their quality and image instead of going for gimmicks.
I see this as a car gun where you need something fast when someone that's bad comes up to your driver side window. Just pull it right up and point. Very much the close quarters gun. That's why I'm surprised that they over it with a laser but since there really isn't any sights on it then that's probably why the laser. It might make some people feel more secure in pointing and shooting when there is a laser. Quick pocket gun in the jacket, gives you time to get your real weapon out.
Love the design and I appreciate forward thinking in design unlike late boyscout. The absolute biggest problem with curve is the super late break on the trigger. I have medium sized hands and my finger had to curl almost all the way back before the trigger would break. Combined this with a an extremely long and hard pull and you got a formula for a trigger that typically hate. For these reasons I would not buy one.
Curve: interesting concept if it's proven reliable it will sell and will appeal to its intended target audience which will most likely NOT be people who frequent internet gun forums and TH-cam channels or tactical know it all mall ninjas. But hey we all know us gun pros and know it all's know more about marketing and intended targeted audiences then a multi national gun manufacture and corporation. :) Shot show: I'm done with it the TH-cam firearms community has effectively overloaded it's viewers with hundreds of hours of product displays and trade show demos which by nature are bias not because of the channel or reviewer but because the manufactures rep is standing right there or the one rambling along in the video. Shot is great too go to but boring to watch on TV at least for me. Your channel: love it! Please know my comments above are not a knock on you just the subject in general.
Hey Scout, Fun format different way of covering the material in closer detail then the usual "booth review". And yes, it is a very weird firearm, seems money would be better spent in a more "standard" format.
I think it is good as far as innovation goes but just looking at it I see to many problems. The magazine release for one. The guy taking it out struggled with it more than once. The grip looks to be exceedingly short. And without the laser one would have to rely on initiative shooting because that cross on the back its going to do anything. Honestly if the were going in this direction maybe the should have just made it like a double barrel derringer and do away with the whole semiauto design.
Late - The recap format is fine keep it up. I agree some of your point here but leave you with this "If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking." Gen Patton.
i'd be interested in it simply for the sake of it being an oddity. I'm not so sure that the idea was truly "Dumb", but it just doesn't seem to have much practicality or true usefulness in reality. It's kind of like building an AK variant rifle in 300 Blackout; there's no need or purpose, just a "Because I could" pride. Well, good Job Taurus, you could, and you did....but now what?
I don't see why not. If Taurus makes a reliable gun. That's a big if but it is possible. Then it makes sense. It forms to your body well and as a backup to a full size gun it would be a good choice. It makes sense to carry an extra gun if it's light enough and doesn't upset your other methods of carry.
OK, so from the reviews I've seen, around a 6 to 7 pound trigger pull. No real sights. Lasers require batteries, batteries go dead. What then?. Funky ergonomics, which in all honesty are the only reason I want to get one of these in hand and try it out for myself. Might be awesome, I can see some potential there. Dumb mag release (my opinion). And finally pocket clips belong on folding knives, not hand guns. "But its not a pocket clip its for inside the waist" Blah blah shut up its a freakin pocket clip on a handgun I don't care what anyone says. All that being said, it is interesting, and I can see some potential. Would I buy one, NO way. But I do want to try one out. Could be the start of something really good, or just a hunk of crap. Either way big thumbs up to Taurus for putting something really different out there, it takes a brass pair to try and sell a gun like this, good on em for that. Who knows, I may try it out and buy 2.
I like the SHOT show recap format. As for the curve, I don't think it will sell well. As pointed out in the video, it has such a narrow audience within the gun buying community that it simply can't succeed.
I don't think I'm a fan bro. It looks like that gun shaped pepper spray pistol that I swear I used to see in the CTD catalog. Anyway now that sexy little revolver next to it in the video well I'd sure like to see more of that. Regarding Shot Show Recap...COOL I don't mind. I think you singlehandedly put out more vids than most of the other channels I sub to, and I just want to say how much I appreciate your dedication to your subs at least where Shot is concerned.
A right handed gun with the clip on the right side. That makes no sense at all. If you got it on your belt to the right, the clip should be to the left.
I am sorry, but this is a very arrogant review. You haven't even shot this pistol, and you have completely dismissed it. I on the other hand have shot several rounds through the one I bought and I have to say that it is a pleasure to use. Good trigger, controllable flip, and most important... very accurate. It is easy to carry and conceal, and that is what a "pocket" gun is supposed to be able to do. I know, real men would never carry this gun, but that would be your mistake to nullify a gun just because it doesn't look like the previous 1.000 guns that came before it. It shoots well, and if a bad guy gets in front of it, he is done.
Ken Day...Very well said. I love this little gun. Like you said, so easy to conceal and accurate. I want something that's comfortable to carry and reliable and this is a great choice. If it's not comfortable to lug around then it will sitting in your gun cabinet the one time that you need it. I also just got the Millenium pt111 G2 which is another great gun! Not really a pocket gun but reliable none the less. People can bash Taurus all they want but they are truly trying to resurrect their reputation and have really done a good job of doing that over the last few years IMO.
That looks like a budget gun. For example they used to sell dime store pistols strictly for the sake of better than nothing logic. I wouldn't pay more than MAYBE 40-50 bucks for that POS and it would be a load and forget in my truck gun. Would not get caught dead carrying that lol
I don't think it's responsible to criticize this pistol until you've had some experience with it. Unless you do, you really don't know what you're talking about.
Taurus just needs to go out of business. They have poor ideas and poor quality controls on there guns. I don't know anyone that actually owns or shoots Taurus brand firearm. They do a great disservice to the firearms industry.
I don't mind the recap as long as it is bringing new info out. The curve was announced ahead of shot and talked about extensively in media and on TH-cam. I've even seen a shooting review vid a month ago.
I like the recaps because you are able to speak what's really on your mind; something you weren't as free to do at the show.
really like the recaps. they are letting you get into a lot of fine points and details about products.

I like the shot show recap stuff, I got flooded with SO many SHOT show videos when it was happening that I stopped watching. Keep em coming!
I carry my Grampa's model 36. Some old dogs like new tricks. These are terrific little pistols and you can slip them on your belt, with the trigger guard on, and no one pays them any attention. Throw the box away. Think outside the building.
I honestly just think it looks pretty badass, kinda has a P-90 design going on. But it could've had some revisions made, like pop-up sights at least.
Diggin the recaps.
Keep it up man I love all your videos! You are amazing!
You missed a whole group of people who would buy this thing, and that's people like me. I want one just because it looks weird and somewhat futuristic. Would i want to carry it? How hard would it be to accommodate left handed shooters?......really?
Looks like the sight is the hole on the back of the gun that the white cross hairs point to.
That thing is going to become a collectible

fancykitten85 Ambi? Soooo no curve? lol
fancykitten85 Lol.. The 'Taurus Squiggle' ;)
perfect back up put it on your ankle and it will never be seen.
I haven't held it or shot it. I can't begin to say if it's good or bad as a piece of hardware.

You see those sheepdogs from America? They’ve got curved guns. Curved. Guns.
Late Boy Scout do the SOG fielder
Do they plan on making a left-handed version of this gun..?
A lot of what you said is so subjective about gun owners/enthusiasts. Hilarious that you really think that way.
I just saw a sweepstakes with this gun as the prize. Never having heard of it I came to TH-cam to check it out. No thanks, would not even want to win one. Sorry Taurus.
Where is the review of the surefire blast diverter?
I would buy the Taurus Curve just because by this time next year when its discontinued it might become more valuable in twenty years.
But, unfortunately, in 20 years the Democrats will outlaw gun ownership. But, maybe it might work out since guns may be at a premium, like they are in all countries where guns are illegal.
Keith Larsen Lol.
I like the recap format.
I am trying to reserve judgment of the primary features of this gun (the curve, sights, etc), until I have shot it. I admit I am curious. Having said that, I think you nailed the target market segment and utility of this gun.
I bet it becomes collectable a few years down the road.
If it got a good pocket feel or wasteline feel I could see the curve mattering even if it isn't thinner.
I wonder how comfortable this gun is using two hands.
It's weird but innovative and some college kids might start carrying so I support it. I like that a gun company or two are trying to innovate and appeal to wider markets. I'll stick to older, standard guns, but I support this.

also (as with the Curve) i find it silly with all the hyperbole about self defense on the blogs and youtube that oblivious worse case scenarios are conveniently ignored arguments about the reality of civilian CQC of a controllable body placement shot from either hand w/ a hopeful follow up vs.
Militarys are increasingly demanding full ambidextrous carry in side arms and long arms. why is this not being seen in the civilian market? considering the growth in gun purchases in the US you are being short sighted.
ultimately this comes down to gun owners/buyers wanting innovation.for what majority wise a conservative group, i'm talking firearms technology, NOT POLITICS. unless we demand innovation and support it. we will live in a much boring gunning atmosphere. no offence to Eugene Stoner but how many AR variations? if he was alive and young i think he'd be kicking something far beyound the AR platform. again a system no one thought possible.

staple gun? glue gun?
John Hauser Like it or not, personal opinion will always bleed over into my reviews, along with facts.
***** i like when ppl are personal in reviews to a degree its not like ur one of those brand extremist fanboys lol
Keep doing the recaps. One thing I never liked about convention videos Is all the background noise.
I like the recap! Do more.
I dig the recaps.
I think that if I wanted a gun with a pocket clip I'd go for Kal-Tec's P11. Twice the capacity, 9mm which is a decent sized round, and cheap as chips.
I honestly wish it was heavier and available in larger caliber.
I like the Recaps.
held it at the great american outdoor show in PA. Not for me lol
Shot show: I'm done with it the TH-cam firearms community has effectively overloaded it's viewers with hundreds of hours of product displays and trade show demos which by nature are bias not because of the channel or reviewer but because the manufactures rep is standing right there or the one rambling along in the video. Shot is great too go to but boring to watch on TV at least for me.
Your channel: love it!
Please know my comments above are not a knock on you just the subject in general.
Wow perfectly said on all points. Glad I don't have to write add much now lol. seriously well said.
Thanks for the input.
What next? A totally spherical gun that fires eggs?
Hey Scout, Fun format different way of covering the material in closer detail then the usual "booth review". And yes, it is a very weird firearm, seems money would be better spent in a more "standard" format.
I think it is good as far as innovation goes but just looking at it I see to many problems. The magazine release for one. The guy taking it out struggled with it more than once. The grip looks to be exceedingly short. And without the laser one would have to rely on initiative shooting because that cross on the back its going to do anything. Honestly if the were going in this direction maybe the should have just made it like a double barrel derringer and do away with the whole semiauto design.
did they not trust you to unchain it
I personally like the recaps. Go for it.
I Like the recap because you can say things you may not want to say in front of the manufacturer. (Cuz you don't want to criticize in their face.)
Keep them coming.
I like the shotshow recaps
Good video thanks. Do a more videos like this. I prefer the truth. What it's. The price for that gun?
I like the shotshow recap
Would love to shot one if not for anything just to say I shot one.

I think its cool if it works properly, also I like your recap vids
IF IT WORKS I see it making a great backup gun for police officers.
@hypervigilance6
The Taurus Derp.
I like the recap yes more
OK, so from the reviews I've seen, around a 6 to 7 pound trigger pull.
More videos like this please and more negative comments about guns this was refreshing. The curve has I'm a pos tattooed all over it lol.
G26 gen3! Don't try to church it up boy!
I like the SHOT show recap format. As for the curve, I don't think it will sell well. As pointed out in the video, it has such a narrow audience within the gun buying community that it simply can't succeed.
They'd be better off focusing more of their time on quality control.
Thumbs up on the recap videos. Great channel by the way.
Wow, that's a really bad idea!
Looks kinda like a a phone with a big case....
Looks just like a S&W sigma 380 with a laser on it. Handgun with no sights I think I'll pass
Back up gun if anything. Not something I would waste my dollars on.
Touched and saw one. Not much else to say. Maybe George Jetson wants a couple and his son elroy. Yells. Stop I have a curve. Huh. Lol.
boring people should review boring guns, and boring guns should not be reviewed by people who like cool things.
#1 problem with this gun, made by Taurus.
No thank you.
I really like the recap, straight and to the point with info. Also, the gun is stupid. I'll stick with my Glocks :)
Taurus just needs to go out of business. They have poor ideas and poor quality controls on there guns. I don't know anyone that actually owns or shoots Taurus brand firearm. They do a great disservice to the firearms industry.
I'm a lefty, so goodbye
Bye.
JohnnyRabbitQC hahaha! See, us lefties are a peculiar bunch.
Ugly gun that would mess with my ocd
Yes, I am. No thank you. Total miss.
Maybe the women would like this gun to keep there curves but as a guy HELL NO.
I disslike there sorts of vids
Horrible design, somebody is losing a job over this one.
Yes gun sucks
